HOW CAN YOU COMPARE THE TWO??? STEVE IRWIN IS A LEGAND AND I WILL MISS HIM. TERRI, BINDI, AND BOB YOU WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS.scandi said:I understand Buzz, but it did make a blurb in USA Today I think, and was not long after Michael hung his baby out the window. We happened to watch it live on TV!
But I also think YOU are pretty wonderful Buzz.
I also wish for the best for his wife and family. He was like a Titan with animals which was remarkable, as usually he could command them at will. It was a rare talent.

PLEASE STOP TALKING ILL OF THE DEAD. I AM SORRY BUT IMO IT IS VERY RUDE. ANIMAL LOVERS ALL OVER THE WORLD RESPECTED EVERYTHING THAT MAN DID. I AM ONE.scandi said:Yes, it could have been a Croc. Virtually the same animal. I saw it happen, so there is no disputing the truth to the matter. He had to have been on a wild ego trip - was not his normal self as I remember, and maybe he regretted doing this after all.
He was just a nip away from manslaughter, and his baby was helpless.
Like I said, I feel a loss when anyone dies. But I'm not going to ignore such a truth, especially when I belong to an organization like WS that always fights to keep children safe.

Jeana (DP) said:I agree Cupcake. I didn't see any of the Lord of the Ring movies, but my husband and kids loved them. I wouldn't stick them into any of her categories.
I am sorry, I agree with her wholeheartedly. There have been numerous experts who also agreed on TV in the UK.Cupcake said:Who is this Greer person?? I have never thought Steve Irwin exploited animals and their habitats! He always, always put an animal back where he found it on his shows.

Cupcake said:I agree with you, Jeana ... I suppose this Greer woman is just seeking attention from poor Steve's death ... what a horrible thing to do ... as if Steve's family and friends don't have enough to deal with right now.

I dont like to speak ill of the dead, and I am very sorry this accident happened but my opinion of Steve Irwin cannot change.
We NEVER saw normal, natural animal behaviour on his shows, we saw animals being terrified most of the time.
I cannot believe people dont see this. Compare him to David Atteborough, who has educated us for 50 years on animal matters without interfering with them or stressing them.
I think Steve was a fun, good looking guy who didnt deserve what happened to him but I seperate that from his jumping from a moving jeep onto an animals back as it tried to flee.
I am sorry if I offend you and maybe now isnt the time to debate his treatment of animals but we all have an opinion and are allowed to express it.

I cannot believe of all the good Steve did; the only thing consistantly told is the "Bob incident ". I hope if I die in a tragic, freak accident, people do not see the one home video me and my husband made when my oldest child was 2 and 1/2 and was helping me cook and was sitting on the counter next to the stove, stirring a boiling pot of noodles. I can only imagine the comments that would be made of me. Was it the best decision I ever made as a parent? No but neither was the time I let my 4 year old unbuckle himself to get a box full of chicken nuggets he had dropped on the floor of my van. Thank God nothing happened, but it could have. I also found our cat in the crib with my sleeping 1 year old. We've all had made poor choices, bad judgements and made mistakes with ourselves, our family and, yes, our children. Please, I believe (I say believe because I did not know him personally) that Steve was a great husband, father, son and friend. Of all the good he's done, can't we just forgive the incident? Just this once? Bob is not dead. He was not ate by a croc. Steve is dead. He was not ate by a croc; he was killed doing what alot of people do every day all over...he was snorkeling. Just because he was filming for a tv show doesn't mean he was anymore disturbing or scaring the sea creatures than my best friend who went snorkeling last year during one of her stops on a cruise she and her husband took.
(jump) I'm off my soapbox now.![]()
