He may go live somewhere else so JP can apply to get the kids back. Or JP may do so (although it's hard to imagine him supporting himself)....

Hard? More like impossible! :banghead:

Cash bond means that one cannot pledge real estate, a race horse, etc. in lieu of money.
Profession bondsmen will put up the money for ten percent of the required amount plus their commission (regulated by law).

Does JP still own the house, is he paying for it, or did he loose it? He isn't working, is he? How could he be making a house payment without working?

SP has a grown daughter, 2 grown sons, 2 grandchildren and himself to support. (Did I miss anyone?) What kind of salary does he make? All those cars, insurance, house payment, utilities, groceries. Seems strange. Plus a son living with him who is running for Congress. That costs money too.

JP might be on unemployment though.

This is so strange.

All I know is that I saw in an old media article that JP went back to the home to get it ready to try to sell it. And in the court custody docs the home is mentioned too, something about JP trying to sell it. (No the Cox's aren't trying to contest that or trying to recover Susan's share of it. Though IMO he probably should for the boys sake.)

I keep going back and forth about whether they want him out or want him in to put more pressure in many ways on Josh. There is no income now coming into that house. The kids are gone and Josh has to know he is not going to be given those kids back. There is no reason for Josh to stay. Yet he doesn't have the means to go either. He has been put into a spin with this action. I think the person they have eyes on now and are tailing is Josh. He may try to make a run for it, or may do something stupid because his father isn't there to lead him. Let's hope.

Cash bail means he needs 20K cash, correct, or does he need the whole 200k?

• Cash Bail Bond:
To be released on cash bail, someone must post with the court the total amount of the bail, in cash. The purpose of this is to secure his or her return to court on an appointed date, and thereafter until the case is concluded. If the defendant shows up for his/her scheduled court appearances, the cash is returned to him/her. If s/he fails to appear, the cash bond is forfeited to the court

According to the county records, SP just refinanced his house this summer. Took out a mortgage of $177k. Don't know what the house is worth, maybe $250-300k in this economic climate.

He lost his job. Can't see him finding another anytime soon, so unless he has a healthy savings account, what now? IMO, bonding agents are going to find him a poor risk.

Jp and his other sibs better start looking for jobs asap, maybe between the three of them they can manage to pay the house payment.

I think you are spot on. My guess is SP isn't speaking, has an attorney and LE is letting him stew without even talking to him offering him a plea deal or anything.

The pressure is incredibly high on Josh right now. I see it that it can go in so many directions. Will he break down, go to her grave and cry, will he turn himself in, will he attempt to commit suicide, will he try to lay another story and place the blame on his dad? Will he go all harry kerry on someone or someplace?

what is the story on josh's mother?

Jmho, the man I married was the man that I was divorced from after 21 years. I say it that way because 12 years into it I was made aware of so many things that had I known before hand I would have run the other way. He had the perfect job, family and freinds to help live a double life. It is so horendous to be deceived by so many. He pursued me. Susan had supporters, the church and family. The way my ex chipped away at me, wow. It was so so sick, if I dared tell anyone, we moved. So for anyone to say we dont know JP or SP, I am here to say sadly, some of us do. I will not fault religion, especially LDS, as I know and love many, just as I wont fault catholics, etc. The JPs and SPs are a dime a dozen and its the Mr Cox of the world who are becoming rare. Jmoo ps I dont argue politics or religion w my freinds and family and I am not about to do it here.

Thank you for your personal insight - I really appreciate your point of view. I'm also terribly sorry that you know this behaviour first hand.

Hugs to you!

Mel

Can you find the status of JP's house?

I want Susan found so I pray LE is watching JP very closely. If JP is as narcissistic as his dad I don't see him doing the suicide route. JP does come across to be that silent deadly type person. He'll explode at the drop of a pin without any warning.

what is the story on josh's mother?

Steven and his wife got a divorce and Steven got the kids in what is reported to be a bitter custody battle. She is living and I believe has talked briefly in the media.

I think what you are referring to is Steven's mother. We don't know her story or her status. At least not other than the story that Steven told.

I've given this some thought on who will betray the other first. (By the way I think this would be a great poll question.)

I will make a bold prediction and say that Steven Powell will betray his son and throw him under the bus, saying he only learned of the murder after the fact, and will tell LE where the body is in exchange for leniency, maybe that he will not be charged with obstruction of justice, conspiracy to commit murder, etc. (he will still face the current charges, however.)

The reason I think that is because of the following factors:

1. I think SP is already implicated in this crime, and that it was his hard drive and/or journals that discussed Topaz Mntn and even the murder itself.
2. SP is sociopathic, no empathy, no remorse, no conscience. He doesn't love Josh.
3. Josh loves his father due to his father's manipulations that he was the only one who cared about him.
4. Josh has less intelligence (which isn't saying much, but still).
5. SP only cares about himself.

MOO.

Susan's family can protest the bond. They can use victim impact statements in an effort to prevent the release. Also, there can be conditions set up to include many, many things as a condition of his bond plus the funds. I hope he does not make bond.

He refinanced it at 177K? No way he has any equity then.

I'd love to hear Josh's mom discuss the bitter custody battle and the "kidnapping" alienation of Josh from her. I think she could shed real light on the controlling, perverted nature of SP.

maybe she has been a source and we don't know it.

I wonder if JP and his other siblings will be begging her for help with food, a place to stay now.
