This case is perplexing to me in that a) there are clear elements of a crime of passion- the fight, domestic violence, etc. and b) there are also elements of premeditation- they haven't found a body, or any "slam dunk" evidence. Now that they found a reciprocating saw, it's clear to me that B.S. spent a lot of time thinking about "What he would if he killed Suzanne?".

Cutting up a body with a reciprocating saw would produce a ton of blood, bone pieces, and other bodily fluids that would be widely distributed and hard to conceal. He had to have thought all of this out beforehand. And when the "triggering event" happened, he put his carefully crafted plan into action. This is a premediated murder IMHO. This also shows what a depraved individual B.S. is.

I truly hope that the only physical evidence in this case is not a piece of DNA on a saw. Especially if that saw was already in Suzanne's home. That DNA would be argued over in court for days to create doubt. Now, if B.S. went out and purchased the saw after Suzanne's disappearance, that would be something else.

...family members told KENS 5 they were informed by law enforcement that her DNA was found on a motorized saw.

It was the indictment for that last charge (tampering w/evidence) that said Brad allegedly tried to conceal a reciprocating saw – tools that are typically small, handheld and machine-powered – as a way to "impair its availability as evidence" on Oct. 8, one day before he was arrested. Law enforcement have not expanded publicly on how he tried to hide the tool or what kind of evidence may have been found on it.
Just eughh I'm finally caught up ,we've seen so much of these types of murders the last few years. I don't understand how these murderers think they will get away with this. Divorce is so much easier jmoo. I feel for their families and children .I hope they can get threw this and that there will be justice . Jmvho

Authorities informed family members this afternoon that Suzanne’s DNA has been identified on a reciprocating saw, which was mentioned in an indictment that came down on Tuesday.

Reciprocating saws are motorized hand saws.

One of the counts says that Brad knowingly concealed the saw to hinder the investigation.

Brad is charged with tampering with physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse. The indictment says that Brad committed an offense, "namely a murder, alter, destroy, and conceal a human corpse."

At this time, it’s unclear where Brad is accused of hiding the saw and when investigators found it.

How terribly awful. Now we know why they cannot find the poor woman. It’s shocking he would do that to the mother of his kids and life companion !! Yet show no emotions as we have seen in MSN

I am horrified reading about the saw. I'm assuming that this is part of the "🤬🤬🤬🤬" he referred to in the pump house. I think he's not talking because he can't admit the gruesome way he murdered and disposed of the mother of his children. He doesn't deserve to ever see his children again, imo.

"On or about October 8th, 2024, Brad Chandler Simpson did then and there, knowing that an investigation was in progress, namely a missing persons investigation, conceal a thing, namely a reciprocating saw, with the intent to impair its availability as evidence in the investigation," the indictment reads.

For those unfamiliar, a reciprocating saw is an often handheld saw which has a blade that moves back and forth. According to hardware dealer Pro Tool and & Supply, reciprocating saws can cut through some of the most difficult materials, including wood, hard plastic and metal

Exactly. Even he knows its indefensible. He has mental illness. Is the insanity plea next? He performed a diabolical act and HE KNOWS IT. Wowza.

I doubt the prosecution would hinge their case merely on Suzanne's "touch DNA" found on the saw. That would be easily explainable by the defense.

I would bet my life that the DNA found on the saw came from either blood, tissue or bone. All things that should not be on any saw simply because Suzanne may have used the saw at some point in time before her disappearance.

Hopefully BS's "touch DNA" was also found on the saw. That would directly tie him as a person that used the saw. Even if his DNA was not found on the saw, I think there will be others involved who can testify the saw belonged to BS. Which I suspect his buddy will do when he turns states witness to save his butt and will testify at trial that BS gave him the saw along with the gun to hide.

Never ceases to amaze me why people don't dispose of such things. But I guess that is a good thing. The saw is defiantly a nail in his coffin and a good piece of evidence for the state.

Now knowing he cut her up, makes me wonder what part or parts of her body he may have placed in the bucket and sealed with the Quikrete.
Snipped by me...Sadly, I imagine he Quikreted anything he thought would identify her quickly. But DNA testing on any tissue is probably pretty quick these days, right? So perhaps the Quikrete was more a warped and twisted FU to her in general. Or else he's not so smart as he imagines. What a monster. :(

Joe, I agree with what you said in the first paragraph. Furthermore, a Google search gave me an AI overview which says that "most reciprocating saws are now battery-powered (cordless)", meaning that isn't just true (as you said it above) generally for power tools, it's also true specifically for reciprocating saws. Although here, we should keep in mind that prosecutors have this saw as evidence, and they know exactly what model it is. They can also see how Brad had it configured. They might also know when he bought it. (I'd guess previously since it does bump up that cash purchase at Home Depot by about $100, but he could have purchased it on 10/7, if he had lots of cash or maybe even with a separate purchase at HD that day. Prosecutors could have left that info out of the affidavit.)

Regarding where he used it, I think it's still challenging to guess. My current guess is on the blue tarp and in the wooded/brushy area, before he moved the body much. On the other hand, if he bought it at HD, then he might have used it only near the burial site (so, somewhere near Medina, Texas). But if he owned it previously, there are other options. Regarding in his home, you do have to remember that his 5-year-old is sleeping there, and he'd need to need to move the body there. Yeah, that is why my guess is that he tried to use it out in the wooded/brushy area.

BTW, we also don't know how far he got in that part activity. He may have realized that would be a very messy job and stopped after just a brief attempt. Note that we still don't know about any of Suzanne's blood being found in the truck or in the home or outside on the ground. We only just know about her DNA (blood cells, I presume) on the saw (on the blade, I presume). So, we really don't know much yet. Obviously, police/prosecutors must know more about this stuff.
To many neighbors near the wooded area. At night the sound would have really carried a long way. I am leaning either near the home or at the disposal spot, not in the wooded area.JMO
i just figured out what a reciprocating saw is. A sawzall.
Blades available to saw thru pipe and metal as well as wood and other things. A body would be an easy task , exception flesh and blood , did he put her in a freezer and then do the dismember deed. He had all that night and several hours during the daytime after he dropped the 5 year old at school. Leaning towards just her head and hands and sealed in a bucket of quikcrete. Ugh I hate these thoughts!

Using a sawzall aka reciprocating saw on a fresh, dead body would be extremely messy.
