Found Deceased Sweden - Maline, 31, Landskrona, 23 Dec 2021

  • #81
Has the autopsy been delayed because more testing needs to be done?

Would that indicate cause of death isn't obvious or straightforward?

She had been out drinking and partying. It sometimes happens that drunk people decide to take a walk in the middle of a cold night - hypothermia. Perhaps toxicology tests take more time?

No thread, but found this English link..
Missing woman found dead in Sweden (newsinenglish.no)
2020
''The body of a Norwegian woman who disappeared in the southern Swedish city of Landskrona on Christmas Eve was found during the weekend, washed up on a nearby beach. An attorney for the family of 43-year-old Eirin Mikkelsen told state broadcaster NRK that they’d been “prepared for the worst.”

''She was last seen in Landskrona’s harbour area late Christmas Eve. Divers, drones and specially trained dogs were used in the search for her, after Swedish police deemed her disappearance as “suspicious.” It was initially investigated as a possible kidnapping of the woman, who had been living in Sweden''

yes very suspicious to have two from the same small town at the same time of year two years apart
but I wonder what the cause of death was determined to be in that case

Drowning. It was not a murder.

There is some new information. I’m not at home but using my phone while sitting on the subway . I can’t translate the entire article. Here is the new info :
* Someone has found a bracelet around Christmas eve on the parking lot on kasernplan.
*It is supposedly Maline’s ankle bracelet. *Individual who found it put an add on Facebook about the find and a friend of Maline’s recognised it as hers.
* Police isnt sure it is hers (officially) someone could have had the same bracelet
* Police doesn’t know what it means to the investigation if it is hers

Interesting, since that location is in the opposite direction from her apartment and the train station.

Exactly! I thought the same. First thing I did was to go on google maps. It was ankle bracelet how can you lose that? Also parking lot it’s a strange place to lose it. Very interesting indeed.

Could she have gone with someone who has a vehicle to have a walk in the area? If someone was going to throw someone into the water (i.e.: suicide Dec 2020), is that a good place to park? CCTV in that parking area seems likely.

Map of locations so far.

From what I’ve read police is looking into CCTV right now around the parking area to figure out more details. The parking seems to be quite secluded if you park at the western side . I’m looking at the maps right now and it is surrounded by forest/ small canal , museum and photo gallery which would be closed at that time. There wouldn’t be many people around since there doesn’t seem to be any cafes or bars unless you park on the east side closer to the buildings . I don’t know what would she be doing there at night but going for w walk with someone from a party who parked the car there or lured her there sounds plausible.

Do we know on which side of the train tracks she was found? East or West?

thanks so serial murderer can be ruled out

Yes and no. The 2020 death was ruled a suicide, but the similarities with this death are raising questions. Same day or so exactly one year later, same circle of friends, similar hairstyle, same small down.

I’ve tried to find some information about that but it doesn’t say anywhere where exactly she was found. Closest to the description I could find was an article that stated :
“ Police technicians were on site next to the company Ahlsells, which is a stone's throw from the railway, during the late afternoon. According to police, Maline was found nearby, outdoors - about 1.5 kilometers from her home.“
But no which side of the tracks .

Most chain bracelets do have a lock that allows to put them on and off comfortably. If this lock malfunctions, the bracelet can slide off pretty easily without the wearer even knowing, especially if said wearer is under the influence. And if it gets into a tire crack it can travel around a bit.

Yes that’s true I wonder what state it was found in if it was damaged and lock was broken . I thought about winter clothing and shoes it’s fairly cold out and most women wear higher winter shoes and long pants mostly at night. I think it’s more difficult to lose it then during lets say summer time. It was about 2 degrees at night.

Thank you! It seems like a very unusual place to go at 4 in the morning, not so unusual for hiding a body.

I agree. 2°C is means dressing for Winter weather. I hope it doesn't take too long to determine whether the ankle bracelet belonged to Maline, as it might help to trace her movements that night.

True that. We should remember though that Maline was out there partying that evening. I doubt she went partying wrapped in umpteen layers of warm clothing and with thick boots on.

There wasn’t description of what she was wearing when vanished. It’s hard to say what she was wearing could be winter clothing or very light clothes for partying. I see women here dress very differently on a night out in winter. Wish there was some information on her clothes.
