I'm sure this has already been mentioned as I've missed so many posts, but the pump team volunteered to stay behind and pump water out of the farm fields.

MORE HEROES ! There are a slew of unsung heroes there. I hope we will at some point get to hear about all of them. Now that is a documentary I'd surely like to see!

...I wonder how many exclamation points this thread has seen tonight...:)

Much of the focus has been on food, what the boys want/can eat right now, and what y'all are having to celebrate. Stir fried pork w/basil ... pecan pie ... bread and chocolate ... all sound yummy. But as a tribute to their rescue I'm going to try to make some congee, because it's what they're all allowed for now. I've never made this before ... I've never even had it. But it seems apropos, for a very late breakfast. :)

Congee is great when you are sick or just want something bland, warm and comforting. It's the chicken noodle soup of Asia. :) I'm making Thai Spring Rolls tonight to celebrate. My recipe is similar to this one (except my peanut sauce is made from scratch): Thai Chicken Spring Rolls Video

Now is the time as the world is looking. It is time for the other nations to do as Australia has done . That is the way that the Thai govt can be supported to stop this intetnational travel

I hope we are not misunderstanding one another here, but "international travel" from Oz to Thailand must continue. Not everyone from Oz goes down there to be predatory; that is a infinitesimally small category of 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬. (e.g. Peter Scully) Just as the majority of Thai folks coming in aren't drug mules, etc. It only takes ONE criminal to bathe everyone in a negative light.

International travel is mostly amazing! I've been to Mexico (very often); Pakistan (best trip of my life), Bangkok, Hong Kong and the northern UK, as well as growing up in the US and permanently immigrating to Australia. I have more trips coming up for Venice; Izmir in Turkey and Macquarie Island Antarctica, if I can rig it right. Everywhere I have been-- without exception-- has been lovely. I'm sure I will treasure all my upcoming trips.

If people here are going to start hating on travel, and kicking to the kerb any idea of leaving one of the first world countries, well, I'll have to say "phooey on you".

If a place seems "out of date", then maybe they can and do welcome other countries in for aid. But asking for help and being inundated by well-meaning colonialists is a cat of a different colour.

Thank you so much for the link to these amazing photos of an amazing rescue mission and a beautiful culture!

I feel for some reason like it's inappropriate to have favourites here, (they all bring tears to my eyes) but I do. # 12, and # 18 (including the caption.)

Rest in Peace, Saman Kunan, a true hero.
May the 13, and anyone else taken ill in their effort to save them, improve swiftly!

I can’t pull away.

Now I feel extreme sadness for Saman’s wife and family. Everyone is rejoicing. Their sadness must be inmesne. Embracing them with love and peace. My heart is broken for them.

I had to go with my elderly dog to the doctor, he has congestive heart failure :( He got medication, waiting for blood results.
Just coming back and read that the other divers, doc and nurses are all out safe as well (Jonathan Head on Twitter) - but Im sure you guys already know that :)
Man Im so glad this went down without a hitch, a second death would have been unbearable.
I want to hug them all! Boys, coach, coordinators, divers and all the unnamed volunteers! They should all be so proud of themselves. I have deep respect for everyone involved in this rescue.
Sorry about your doggie's condition. I hope the meds help him breathe more easily. It's hard to watch pets age and become infirm. :'(

When will we get the first photos of the 13? What do you think?

Agree. Wish the uber rich King of Thailand would give a lifelong
pension to Saman's wife and family. He wouldn't miss much of that 60 billion $$ he has and controls.

A lot of folks don't give credit to all the behind the scenes worker
bees that contributed to this. I saw videos of all the divers who
helped carry and move hundreds of boulders blocking the narrow
passage ways. they even had guys with huge hand held drills
chipping and cutting the limestone in the tunnel.
This was a monumental exercise and hats off also to the
"Supreme Commander" miltary guy.

Did your vet suggest a diet of rice and boiled chicken? I mention this only as we all talked about it earlier for an easily digestible food, and for a pet on a soft diet, boiled chicken and rice is easy on the system.

My heart is with you during this scary time.

I mean to to add both posts in. Yups, I sucketh mightily. LOL

Best Wishes for your doggy. I have my 16 y.o. shepherd getting Hospice Care here. Anything she wants to eat and
round the clock spoiling.

Two Thai artists have created a cartoon, full of hidden symbols, to depict the ongoing efforts to rescue the Thai soccer team trapped in a cave.

5b43924542e1cc24f17e6bbc-750-281.jpg

Here's what each part of the cartoon symbolizes:
  • Wild boars (12 small ones and one larger one): the stranded boys and their soccer coach.
  • White elephant: Narongsak Osottanakorn, the leader of the command center in charge of the rescue mission.
  • White horse: all the heroes who have been involved in the mission.
  • White seals: the Thai navy SEALs who have been leading the rescue efforts.
  • Frogs: the cave divers who have been helping.
  • Blue lion: rescuers from Britain and Belgium.
  • Kangaroo: rescuers from Australia.
  • Panda: rescuers from China.
  • Crane: rescuers from Japan.
  • Moose: rescuers from Sweden.
  • Tiger: rescuers from Myanmar.
  • Brown elephant: rescuers from Laos.
  • Eagle: rescuers from the US.
  • Iron Man mask: Elon Musk, who has been tweeting his support for the rescue effort.
  • Swallows: climbers from Thailand.
  • Dog: a K9 unit at the scene.
  • Dragon: the team drilling into the cave and pumping water out.
  • Birds facing all the animals at the end of the cave: journalists covering the rescue mission.
  • Black crow among the birds: people criticizing the mission.

This cartoon depicting the Thai cave rescue is going viral in Thailand — and it has a hidden meaning

Hi, just back on after the usual round of after school activities (including football, swimming and lifesaving funnily enough!) just wondering if we've heard how and where John & Rick are?

The law in Australia is for convicted child sex offenders. Australia is denying them to travel internationally.

It would be a great help to the Thai govt if the rest of the nations did that as well woudln’t it? I do not understand why anyone would not want a law to stop child sex offenders from travelling internationally. That means they could not come to the US from other countries as well.
