For Gardenista-
Swimming Induced Pulmonary Edema- SIPE
there was talk Saman was on his second run of the day even though his buddies suggest he take a break. His body may have
been suffering from exertion, along with cold water which can exascerbate the problem - could have been a perfect storm.

Wow, I've never heard of this condition. I read Saman was a triathlete too.

Love that he named the mini sub "Wild Boar" - so awesome. He must have brought over the mini sub himself.

I love it, too! I foresee "wild boars" being a popular team name in the best future.

I hope someone can donate money or property and these kids can do some special family activities when they're feeling up to it! And fingers crossed that nobody contracted anything awful in there!

No need to get upset--just trying to figure out how one of the best divers on the planet could have died by running out of air. Creepcrusher posted he may have had faulty equipment which is something that hadn't occurred to me.
We really do not know how much training he had in diving. I've read that none of the Thai seals had any cave diving training which is a specialty itself. Just because he was a Thai Navy Seal does
not automatically make him an "Expert" at diving. Some of these small, poor countries have such limited resources, similar to their
military and commercial pilots. Many of them are not adequately
trained when you compare them to US Miltary and US Commercial
Airline Pilots. Just a well known fact of life.

lol, I thought about being in that cave like that with my 12 and 17 year old like he is with the boys and no thanks! :) It would be time served :D

Can you imagine? I'm exhausted after a few hours with a school class, and that's without them being hungry, tired, scared, cold, thirsty, poorly and upset. However, I'm not a Buddhist and I have faith that their meditation and strength of religion will have helped more than others might.

So could this also be a reason the rescuers can only last so long for rescues each day?

Thanks for all the info you have shared here re diving.

I read that he died because he lost his grip on the guide line and became disoriented. I think that's why the decision was made for two divers to accompany each boy.

I thought SEALS were all expert divers?

Hey Poppy! I too have a 12, and 17 year old. Daughters though. I couldn't imagine being stuck in a cave for 17 days with all their drama. It's hard enough at home!
