The elusive "other" cell phone - the Blackjack - REVISITED

So many seem to believe there was truly a lost phone.

Has this ever been proven?

I for one think that there never was a second phone. Casey just claimed there was because she knew that calls she supposedly made and received between her and the imaginary nanny could never be tracked and she needed an excuse as to why.

So conveniently that phone she had only a brief while was lost. The phone was supposedly new, and yet didn't work? Then voila it was lost.

I dont't believe it ever existed, especially with her paying a bill for cell service with a stolen account (IIRC the 574 paid to att) to reestablish service. How many times can you get a new phone when you havent paid your current bill? It just doesnt fit.

I think it is bull - what do you think?

Kathy in Texas

The blackjack is just like Zanny the Nanny, Juliet and Jeff. :liar: All lies to cover lies.

Interesting how it wasn't just any phone; she had to make it a fancy "blackjack". She's gotta make those lies big. And not just any name for her imaginary friend, but one named: "Juliet Lewis". Different spelling but nevertheless, the female lead of .... "Natural Born Killers"?

Things that make you go hmmmm... :waitasec:

Just thinking aloud...sorry to go OT. :)

Just to clarify a few things.

I don't recall anything about it being a work issued phone. The call between her and lee from jail she said she got it from the AT&T store. This is the call that they were discussing the Blackjack

LEE: Where did you get this phone from? Like how was it provided to you?

CASEY: Through the AT&T Store, god, what road? It’s the bottom left side of town kind of near where the mall and stuff is.

LEE: Was this a phone, is this another personal cell phone of yours?

CASEY: Yes.

A SIM card or Subscriber Identity Module is a portable memory chip used in some models of cellular telephones. All she would have to do is simply take the SIM out of one phone and into the other one. The SIM is already programmed with you number, phone book, text messages and other information, kind of like the hard drive on your computer that automatically activates the phone when you put it in.
A SIM card can come in very handy. For example, let's say your phone runs out of battery power at a friend's house. Assuming you both have GSM phones. You can remove the SIM card from your phone and slide it into your friend's phone to make your call. Your carrier processes the call as if it were made from your phone, so it won't count against your friend's minutes.
If you upgrade your phone there's no hassle involved. The SIM card is all you need. Just slide it into the new phone and you're good to go. You can even keep multiple phones for different purposes. An inexpensive phone in the glove compartment, for example, for emergency use, one phone for work and another for home. Just slide your SIM card into whatever phone you wish to use.

Which makes it really easy to change phones cause all you have to do is take the SIM out of one and put it in another and you are already set up. So yes whatever phone you put that perticular sim card in would then have that same phone number since the phone number is associated to the SIM and not the phone.

unlike CDMA like Verizon or Sprint where the programming is done on the actual phone, then you have to actually have your provider program the phones ESN (electronic serial number) on to your account so that the phone is seen by the network.

Thanks for that info. I've been wondering what in the world a SIM card was, and how it worked, and have been meaning to look it up.

Just to throw this out there, in one of Caseys Photobucket accounts there was picture of Casey sitting at a bar table. On that table in front of her are two things a 22 oz beer and a Samsung Blackjack. Link is in the earlier General Discussion threads. I no longer have it as my lovely fiancee cleared all my links, favorites and history from the laptop. Grr.

An e-payment from Amy's account? Will have to look a the doc. again.

It's in the 6 (I think) page information regarding the new arrest charges (not in the 400 page discovery). Look at the documents associated with the latest arrest--all that stuff is in that.

I think I'm going to err on the side of caution and consider the source from which this came. Let's see, where did we hear of this from? Oh yeah, that's right, we heard this from the lying lips of none other than the abscentminded mother who 'misplaced' her baby girl. Considering that most else that has come out of that beer chugging-Lord-only-knows-where-else-those-lips-have-been-sorry-excuse-for-a-parents lips has been untruths, I'm going to go with Nope! Not gonna buy it!! She needs to go sell crazy somewhere else.

I believe in the 400 pages document, Amy stated that there was an electronic payment to AT&T for $542 (?).

As far as most of the information out there points to, Casey hasn't had a job in awhile. My guess is that she hadn't paid the bill in a few months?

Does anyone know where this picture is? Maybe it was someone else's phone that she was sitting with (and he/she just put it on the table). I'd also like to see the date on that picture. :D

As far as I remember there were 2 photobucket accounts for Casey. This was in the first. No date. And I never said it was hers, or that it was actually turned on, or that she hadn't stolen it, just said it was there.

Definitely true -- just typing out loud, throwing out reasons why it might be there. It would be interesting to find that pic and see if we could figure out the model to see if they indeed do have the ability to accept SIM cards.

YES the Blackjack uses a SIM card I just went over all of that if you read my earlier post!

Some members with blackjack experience have stated that they do not hold a charge very well, just as Casey has stated.

I think there is a blackjack out there and it was hidden for a reason. I also believe it has a different account and phone number. Casey discussed how she used one SIM card in both phones and that could be because she was transferring her phone book from her old phone to the new one. I know this isn't easy to explain but it seems to be the most likely to me.

2 Accounts
2 Phone Numbers
2 SIM Cards

She stated in the 400 page discovery that she had the blackjack for work. You don't get a second phone with the same number for work. It's just not feasible.

Hypothetically... and IMOO

She has a cell phone. She has her little phonebook of friends' numbers saved to this phone's SIM card.

She gets a 2nd phone, different number and account for work.

She wants to put her old phonebook of numbers on the new phone so she takes her SIM card from her original phone with phonebook in tact and puts it in her new blackjack and saves that phonebook to her new blackjack.

Voila, she now has the same phonebook now on both phones. The only difference is, the phonebook on her original phone is stored on that SIM card, where as, the blackjack only has those numbers stored on the phone, since only one SIM card can be in a phone at one time. At that point, she very well could have went a step further and saved the numbers from the blackjack to the blackjack SIM card.

This is why she might know right off hand who's numbers were stored on the blackjack and who's were stored on SIM cards.

Whatever Casey was doing for work or why she had this blackjack, I don't believe there will be anything on it to prove Zanny's existence. I think it may provide more information as to what she was doing for work though.

And as always, this is my opinion.

 Hi, I believe the "blackjack" could have been a code name for someone or she could have had one for "work"----call girl service or other.
Yes she could have swapped sim cards to put in her personal numbers on "work" phone so she could use it for both. I had a regular phone and switched to a blackberry. I swapped sim cards so I did not have to reprogram all my numbers. I did not like the blackberry and switched back.

She could have had two phones---two numbers. It is possible and I know little or nothing about all this. I usually ask one of my children for help with such matters. That is how I pick up bits and pieces on these kind of things.

That "blackjack" is definitely a key to the mystery.

The model of phone isn't the issue, it's the carrier that it is associated with that will determine if it uses a SIM card or not.

Case in point. I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 through Alltel, my Best friend has the exact same Blackberry Curve, though her's is through AT&T/Cingular.

Her phone uses a SIM card and mine does not.

:
But there was no work ???

So how could there be any work related calls??

No legitimate work that is. This doesn't mean she wasn't doing somekind of work under the radar. She could have even been doing some
"services" for guys at Universal. Something not on their regular "payroll."

Face it. Who knows what all that "pretty little thing" was into. Sex, drugs, etc.

I think that she did at some point have a blackjack. Didn't Lee ask her about it? He seemed familiar that she had such a phone.

As for where it is and why it is missing, given the personality of Casey, it could be almost anything or anywhere. Who knows which of the many lies that she churned out the phone is involved in? It may have something to do with Caylee, it may have simply been dumped out or lost when she emptied her purse, it may be related to some other lie or scam, completely seperate from her missing child.

That I definitely do agree with.
Look at it logically, she's attractive, outgoing, overly sexualized, has no problem hanging around with not so good people, expert liar and highly money hungry.
She has large chunks of time that can't be accounted for, people that no one else can find, phones for "work" that seem to disappear. Oh yeah, she was into something besides losing her kids and partying a lot.

Personally, I doubt there was a second phone, although there could have been one. If there was one, I don't believe that it didn't work. She probably just got rid of it to cover her tracks.

As far as getting a new phone when you haven't paid your current bill, Up until recently I would have agreed with that statement, but I've seen evidence (not related to this case at all) in which a person can have many accounts...especially if using a stolen account, and have many accounts with different providers.

Now that one can get a free phone, and sign up for service online, it is only up to the person's "honesty" stopping one from lying when getting several phones. The providers assume you are who you are (as long as you have cc info that they can check).

I know of someone in which come to find out have as many as oh...about four or five phones, with different numbers, in different names at once.

So...yes, I believe she could have. My big question if she did have this blackjack is what was she using it for, and what numbers were really on there.

:blowkiss: Someone else could have provided the phone for "work related" reasons. Please remember the backward thread and how "Carmen trashed it".

Last night on NG, Nate, room mate of TonE talked about Caylee playing with him and another room mate named Carmen. Hummmmm makes you wonder.
The plot thickens.
