The elusive "other" cell phone - the Blackjack - REVISITED

I think that woulda shown up in all of LE's tracing and tracking, honey! Also maybe in the rumor mill.

Looks to me that she spent all her time shuttling among the A house, the latest bf's, the latest club, and the latest parties. The rest of her time was pretty much MySpace and FaceBook.

She didn't seem to have much of a life. Now, she has even less of one.

Oooh, that reminded me of a sig line someone used to have --- something about how ironic it is that KC murdered Caylee so she could be at the bars all the time... and now she'll be behind them for the rest of her life. Or how ironic that KC murdered Caylee so she could have her freedom and now she never will... Something along those lines.

Either way, I can't get past the point that KC knows all the necessary info to track any phone she ever used. She knows where it came from or who gave it to her, kwim?

I do hope Kio's phone records might potentially lead to the blackjack. :)

If there was a blackjack and if it's important to the case, I'm confident the defense has access to anything they need to know about it. They have KC and she can lead them to it quite easily, imo.

It's been over a year since Kio's contact with LE.They would have pursued records for the blackjack long ago and we would have seen something in the doc dumps by now.LE would have been very interested in that Blackjack if it existed.I'm sure all the friends were questioned about seeing KC with one. Some info on one may still turn up,but I believe if there was any evidence KC really had one we would have seen it by now.
Some posters strongly believed that the phone the Grunds lent Casey was a blackjack, but recent doc dump proved that wasn't true.We just have not seen any evidence of a blackjack.

wha? To see if it's possible to track back to the blackjack for the purpose of getting the phone records on the blackjack if it existed. :waitasec: I'm not going to presume what the records might or might not show, it would just be great if the records could be obtained.

I believe that if there was a BlackJack, records to track back to it long since would have been discovered. I am certain Kio would not have been the singular POC for inbound & outbound calls, if that's what you are suggesting? Would Kio's phone records logically have been the only source of information to investigate in regards to the BlackJack? I'm not sure I follow that idea in light of the tens upon tens of other people Casey communicated with.

Also, if there was a BlackJack, why ever would the defence neeed to rely upon Kio's phone records to prove it existed and trace back to it? Wouldn't KC be busting her tail to at least exonerate herself on that mistruth?

I'm sorry, but I just don't get the concept that Kio's phone records would be the pivotal trigger to prove the existance of the BlackJack.

I understand the fascination, but there were many other holes in the BlackJack story to begin with, so hinging results on Kio's records is a stretch to begin with.

It is hard at times to avoid becoming obsessed with case details that seem to point to conspiracies. Letting those tasty morsels go to refocus on facts is difficult, but ultimately worthwhile.

KC herself said the SIM card between both her phones was interchangeable. That would indicate it is ONE cellphone account (using multiple phone shells) and that all the records would go to that same billing account number (regardless of which telephone numbers were temporarily stored on or calls placed from that particular phone). IIRC, this idea was put to bed a while ago.

IMO........the blackjack was just another one of Casey's lies to explain why she didn't have phone calls to or from ZFG, Jeff Hopkins, Juliet, or any other of her imaginary friends. Remember........Casey even gave Lee the phone numbers for ZFG, Jeff, and Juliet, and all those numbers turned out to be the phone numbers of neighbors of the Anthonys. With Casey, it was just another lie to cover her rear end for the moment.

With all the phone records LE has obtained there would at least one call to or from an unknown phone number. Casey was on her phone for hours every day, and it was always the same phone. If she had another phone, there would have been large gaps of time when she was using another phone.

BBM

I think you have hit the nail on the head. With all the information regarding cell pings, texts we have seen, and call records, this statement really serves to point out the lack of another phone ever existing. I was one in the beginning that thought there was another phone somewhere, but after all the info we have seen I have been convinced otherwise.

I have T-Mobile. Their phones only will use a T-Mobile sim card. I have a contract with them for my phone. I can go to Best Buy and get another T-Mobile phone to put my sim card in, which would still show up on my account. However, if I bought a T-Mobile "pay as you go" phone, I could buy some minutes and use it with the sim card it comes with (which would not show up on my account) or I could switch my sim card back and forth. Switched sim card = shows up on active account. Throw away pay as you go phone = no trace.

Seems like it would be way beyond obvious at this point.

POTD! For sure.

Yep, I have T-Mobile too and you are correct.

I just find it hard to believe that KC would use any of the stolen funds she was acquiring to pay for a "pay as you go" phone. As it was, she wasn't able to pay her regular cell phone bill and had to steal in order to keep it turned on. And it certainly appears that any other $$ she was stealing at the time (think Amy's checkbook) was going towards beer, party groceries and cheap lingerie!! And there certainly weren't many minutes available left in a 24 hour day for her to text or hold real phone conversations on an additional phone! Didn't her phone records show that she was actively using her phone for about 18 hours a day (sleep pattern docs). When would she have stopped and used a different phone, then switched back to the one we have records for?

MMM- great post. And of all the THOUSANDS of calls she made each month not one was to her Nanny.

Do you suppose Zanny could have the Blackjack? lol

The ultimate irony is that for all the protestations Cindy makes, and all the lies ( mistruths) she tells, it will probably be her initial utterances and George's statement that will send Casey to the chair. ...

I bet they wish they could suck those words back in like a "strand of spaghetti" straight out of the defense's personal bowl.

I haven't yet seen any Blackjack phones that are throw-away models. For ones that expensive (or ones that were), you generally had to go through a major carrier. Also she had ATT (as do I). I can switch out SIM cards between phones, but I was not aware I could transfer a SIM card to a buy-as-you-go phone with ATT models. I have only been able to transfer SIMs between contract phones that were configured by and sold by ATT, and I don't know if they make pay as you go's that switch. Maybe somebody here has had that experience with them and could clear that up.

And, I can't quite see KC using a cheapie PAYG phone, in any case.

Well, not unless she had something really to hide, you're right. I mean, she was stealing from people to keep her main phone bill paid.

I am on AT&T.
I have an old blackjack. I just this minute took the sim card out of my blackberry and put it in my blackjack. My service was transferred to that phone instantaneously and I did not have to contact anyone.
So, I agree that if she had 100 phones all the records would be on the same bill if she was just switching around the sim card.

I have done the same with the same results. However, I don't know that I could transfer the SIM to an ATT pay-as-you-go. I've not tried that. They might be configured not to take another SIM. Some of them are not removable.

I don't know anything about payg. I just know I do not have to contact anyone to change phones.
I am in agreement with you bean sister and I personally think all her phone records are most likely all her phone records.
