The elusive "other" cell phone - the Blackjack - REVISITED

I only know about TMobile. My DD broke her phone and I didn't want to extend the contract on our account so we bought a throw away at WallyWorld or somewhere like that, and just switched out the sim cards. It worked. Don't know about AT&T though.

I haven't yet seen any Blackjack phones that are throw-away models. For ones that expensive (or ones that were), you generally had to go through a major carrier. Also she had ATT (as do I). I can switch out SIM cards between phones, but I was not aware I could transfer a SIM card to a buy-as-you-go phone with ATT models. I have only been able to transfer SIMs between contract phones that were configured by and sold by ATT, and I don't know if they make pay as you go's that switch. Maybe somebody here has had that experience with them and could clear that up.

A throw away model is just one cheep enough to throw away. Hence the term.

You can use any phone for pay as you go.

It would just be a huge waste to have one of those fancy ones, and not have a real service that would handle all the bells and whistles.

I have pay as I go, and I can take my chip out and put it in a better model phone. I have done that. I've even had to let my Hubby put his chip in mine, cause his busines phone stopped working.

Phones that are stricktly ATT, etc.. are 'locked'. Phones that work on any network are called "unlocked.' There is a way to unlock them, the carriers tried to stop it. But since the locks are put on after they are made, it isn't considered messing with original software to 'unlock' phones. Which is fair. If you pay big money for it, you should be able to use it, no matter what network your on. KWIM..

I'm AT&T (Pay As You Go). It works the same way.

If she had another phone, there would have been large gaps of time when she was using another phone.

unless she talked with both at the same time like in the movie "the Loop"? :)

I had to laugh, earlier I posted "track back to the black jack".....doesn't it sound like it should be sung to the Paul Simon tune

track back to the black jack
make a new plan stan
no need to be coy Roy
just get yourself free

sorry, I couldn't resist that

edited to add: Oh no! one of the lines in the song is, "Just drop off the key, L**."

I can see this becoming our song. Oh well, it's a great one if we're going to have a theme song.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. With all the information regarding cell pings, texts we have seen, and call records, this statement really serves to point out the lack of another phone ever existing. I was one in the beginning that thought there was another phone somewhere, but after all the info we have seen I have been convinced otherwise.

I started out pretty sure the other phone was just a lie (or that it was code talk for something else), and now I'm not absolutely sure. Of course it is hard to imagine when she would have had time to talk on another phone, and there's the lack of ANY calls to ZFG, JH, JL, etc on the Nokia. Unless those are code names for other people. :abnormal:

In the beginning of the case I went into a gas station one day, and saw at the counter that there were all kinds of caffeine candies and a caffeine gum or something called Blackjack. I wondered at the time if maybe Caylee had accidentally ingested some of that or something. Of course now we know that wasn't the case. But anybody know of anything else the name "blackjack" could refer to? Brainstorming: she lost a bunch of money gambling and couldn't pay up? Codetalk for someone who's known as blackjack or plays blackjack?... But wait, didn't RG say he really had lent her or given her a blackjack at one time, or was that the nokia? Oh no, I need to go read the old stuff again.

RG stated that KC never returned the phone they loaned her. It was later shown to be the Nokia as her name was listed on the account as KC Grund at one time. IIRC. I will search for the link but it may be tomorrow.

Yep, RG lent her the Nokia. She never returned it.

And still the possibility the blackjack was someone else's phone she used, whether stolen, a friend's phone, or phone provided by someone. It is still weird we've never seen anything of an interview with JP, or anything about his phone records.

No need to search for it Sleuther, I trust you. :blowkiss: And Tuffy, thanks :)

If you were an innocent person sitting in jail wouldn't you volunteer the 'blackjack' information- all they ever wanted to know and more?

LOL seagull, that's the same thing Cindy tried to tell LE during one of her interviews! Guess I would have to attribute the lack of phone calls to ZFG and JL to the fact that they don't exist, sooo...

Especially if that missing blackjack phone had the information on it that could be key to clearing you..............the phone number of the person you told LE kidnapped your daughter. And, the phone numbers of other people who would be able to help clear you if they existed.

For that reason alone, the blackjack just doesn't exist.

Let's look at this from yet another angle: If the Blackjack was also of value in clearing you in the civil case filed by ZFG via Morgan, The one you really didn't want to proceed before the criminal case, wouldn't that be yet one more reason to divulge as much detail as possible about it?

If there was any information - at all - that would have helped to stop the civil case, I am sure the attornies would have pressed hard & heavily for it.

For that additional reason, the Blackjack doesn't exist.

Kind of ties back to the proposed 'theme song', too:

Right after the Lee line, the song goes:

"Just set yourself free..."

LOL. Maybe it is a good theme song for the blackjack after all.

if I were? Yes! ha ha (unless I suffered from mental illness, delusions, or there was somebody I absolutely couldn't rat out, or..... who knows.) But if it were me, absolutely. We all know the arguments for there not being a blackjack of course and I'm not discounting those. :)

That's an awful lot of 'if's'- fortunately none of them apply to Casey- so a reasonable person would safely conclude there never was a Blackjack.

I believe Blackjack is code for Caylee and wanted her brother to find the to get rid of evidence.

And I'm confident there will be 12 reasonable people on the jury who will conclude the same - there never was a blackjack or the defense would be able to provide some evidence it existed. Kio's phone records will show calls in and out but I don't see how they can show calls from a phone contracted to KC that KC doesn't know about and have other ways to verify, kwim?

Agreed. Remember, she lost her phone at her fake job. She left it on her fake desk in her fake office and filed a fake report at universal. It would be impossible to think that phone exists when she lied about everything else.

Random thought but since the numbers for zanny were supposedly in that phone, how did she know what number to call back when she received a call from Caylee that came from a 'private' number on Jul 15th? She said she called it back but the number was disconnected. She later stated to the detectives that she only had zannys number on her blackjack.
I will never understand why Jesse G called her a diabolical liar. I think she sucks at lying. No one ever called her out on it, even though they were ridiculous, blatant lies. :loser:
