good stress list, ThinkofLaura, and I agree, stress was mounting.
For a couple short on cash, i would think that the pets and the internet access could go for a while ... he seemed to work on the internet quite a bit and from the little bit of searching i have done, it seems he posted on a few sites... one about cars, then there was classmates, his site, and his interest in the stock market which is huge online ... who knows if he lost any money in the stock market.
Please, if you can, do a search on the property situation. I don't know how to do that or I would help ya! Thanks!
This is all opinion only, except for the paraphrasing from his site and the item taken in the property search.
I just found this post of yours, and had missed the gambling question/ speculation the first time around. Sorry, because I do think it has a lot of merit.
Eerily enough, I had again been debating all day yesterday on whether to post my suspicions that he may have been trying to " earn" back money in a hurry through the speculative and extremely high pressure area of stock market trading known as " day trading".
I don't know a huge amount about day traders, except that they can sit at a computer and hedge many very small stock calls from minute to minute. They don't have to have a lot of money to start, but most become addicted and debt-riddled in a very short period of time because the short term stock market investments are horribly risky and almost pre-destined to fail. It doesn't seem like a large amount of money to lose at first, but it adds up in a hurry.
IF a person is a narcissist, they probably think they would make really great stock decisions..
Also, it's a variation on gambling, IMO, and a " get rich scheme" which has led to inveatigation of the regulations within the day trader industry in the past 3-4 years.
I had been contemplating what a self-absorbed head of a household with an infant and a wife to provide for might have been desperate enough to do legally, either before or just after the firing for the claim of embezzlement.
I think there's a possibility that he was into day trading, and was losing big time, money that they obviously didn't have the luxury of losing.
He could have owed more than he could pay back, except with a life insurance policy and a seemingly solid alibi.
Or maybe Janet, who appeared to be a straight arrow, hard working person, found out and confronted him on the night of her murder.
I do know that a Palm Pilot was seized in the home search. I did a screen freeze on the TV news station video which waved the inventory list around a bit. It's item #2. Maybe he was shrewd enough to keep all his stock trading on his Palm Pilot, not on a shared computer.. and Janet got curious and checked out some numbers, or maybe he asked her parents for a large loan under some other pretense, didn't make any effort to pay them back, and they asked Janet about it.
If the reports about email related to the murder early on are true, perhaps they relate back to something of this nature. I am speculating once again, but the police are not calling this a random crime and I don't think it was a suicide by any stretch of the imagination, so I am going with theories which could explain a total meltdown and unleashed rage with someone who wants to be " perfect" is discovered to have done something extremely unwise- again.
I also keep remembering that Raven was very out of touch with the reality which was his life at the time, and his blog entry about having made unfortunate business and personal decisions in the past and starting over.. Maybe he saw this as his way to succeed. From what I have read, the addicted day trader thinks their big stock " hit" is their next pick.
I know there was a family murder by a desperate day trader in GA a few years ago.. I don't remember the specifics but people running all over the grounds of large offices in Atlanta was on the national news. The shooter was at large inside the day trading office, killing the people he believed had lied to him and the people in surrounding offices and buildings were terrified.
It appears that Raven has never quite found his true self.. There's quite a bit of bragging and untruths to what he chose to post about his life.. There's also the last entry he posted about how he had been dealt a difficult hand in life from birth, and how he planned on a whole new " beginning".
I hope I am wrong. I hope she was loved and cherished and that he was honest with her. I hope he didn't fall into the trap of the lure of easy money.
