They could have popped in one of the films to create terror in her for the film and that's when she freaked out and realized that Pak set this job up for her knowing...Maybe the girls were told they were going to be working on a film with a famous person and they were not allowed to bring there phones per famous persons rule. They never imagined it would be this kind of film.That would also explain the baby and the Asian man.

Explain the baby and asian male how? No i don't buy the "celebrity don't bring your phones angle". I think it's more likely the girls ran outside to meet a drug dealer real quick than they left their phones intentionally

The speculation (per your ripperologist-LISK podcast) about LISK possibly being a member of a male/female duo (with the female being a prostitute) makes complete sense particularly with regard to the victims' lack of (usual) defense mechanisms. (Of course, this is based on the premise that SG is not an LISK victim) I don't remember this possibility being discussed here at WS so it wouldn't be a rehashing of ideas... yay!

I'm headed out for dinner but I think this deserves more consideration and thoughts from others.

I think the promise of big money served two purposes. It lured Amber out of the house and kept David S. at bay. They were both looking forward to reaping the benefits.

If it involved snuff films...it would involve all levels of depravity and not just be about sex. I find it hard to believe they all ran outside to meet a drug dealer and left their phone inside. There is an angle that I am not sure what it is but it presented an acceptable reason to the girls to leave there phones behind. Street savy girls/men don't just travel without safety measures in place.

I dunno about the safety protocols thing. I'm inclined to agree with the posters who have surmised that desperation for money to support a habit (especially big money) combined with over time letting their guard down led to the victims getting tripped up unexpectedly.

I mean, really, Dave and Amber ripping off johns with the "busting in with a baseball bat" ruse is risky AF as far as I can see. All sorts of things could go wrong and result in injury or death, including the mark having a lethal weapon on him, but they took the risk for the payoff. That makes me think "safety protocols" weren't as big a deal to them as is being suggested.

You are assuming Megan left her phone behind.
As Robert Anderson so correctly stated earlier, the girls have more than one phone. Shannan had five phones.

I spoke with DS years ago, about a number of things, and he specifically told me that Amber did not have a phone; that she used his phone.
So Amber didn't leave a phone behind. She didn't have one to bring with her.

So Maureen did NOT leave her phone behind as it pinged in Massapequa and/or Fire Island.
Melissa did NOT leave her phone behind as it pinged in Massapequa and/or Fire Island.

We all know that Shannan called 911 in hysterics (as per the family's briefing early on in this case) and if Shannan was NOT screaming for her life, and
was so calm she was getting a pedi/manicure as Detective Steven Vincent (is that his name) from SCPD insisted in his op ed to Newsday, well then
heck - what's the harm in releasing the call?

Megan most likely had more than one phone and no one knows the details of how many phones she had, nor if she brought one two or three
phones with her to meet her "date:"

Woah, how about that. If the creeps who frequent that board picked up the phrase I wouldn't be surprised.

As I mentioned before, another place that term shows ALL THE TIME is on the cesspool NYPD board "Thee Rant". Doing a targeted google search of the site brings the slur up multiple times by a few different LE. Could be that the killer reads those boards as they are public (or he's a member, or hangs around the fringes of cop culture etc.) Just another possibility.

According to Brodsky, it seems Amber bought herself a phone after moving to NY in "late 2009". Sometime after that, she was in rehab and met Brodsky. The way the article is worded, it sounds like she bought the phone in the spring of 2010 after she and Brodsky relapsed and before she disappeared in September of 2010.

a prepaid phone is a burner phone. she could have run out of minutes and not reupped at the time she went missing, alot of times people just toss these phones after they run out of minutes i wouldnt expect one to last a whole year. Here's a thought to kick around. All the gals that have been identified are WHITE. The area is Oak Beach. It is less noticeable to slip in white gals than black gals. They even have a gate and a camera to record all that go in and out.
