re: Taking the stand--
I think JA has probably been assessing the jury as best she can throughout the trial (behind the Cousin It hairstyle and her fake glasses).
With her skewed view on reality, her ability to lie without conscience, and her manipulative personality she's been figuring out who on the jury she can "play" and what it would take to really work that juror (or jurors). I also think her attorneys are aware of JA's "skills" and "appeal" and if they think she can garner any sympathy just by taking the stand and will blind anyone on the jury - they might take the risk.
If there were any jurors the defense really liked during voir dire and have felt positive about during trial, why not throw poor, sweet, soft-spoken, tiny, baby-faced, eye-glass wearing knitted sweater wearing JA up to testify. She'll probably break down in tears at some point anyway, who cares if its at the right time or not, she was "abused", she's "battered and broken", she's emotional, throw her on the stand as a hail mary and hope one juror connects with her enough to hang the jury.
Juan will rip her to little shreds but I can see it happening.
