re: Taking the stand--

I think JA has probably been assessing the jury as best she can throughout the trial (behind the Cousin It hairstyle and her fake glasses).

With her skewed view on reality, her ability to lie without conscience, and her manipulative personality she's been figuring out who on the jury she can "play" and what it would take to really work that juror (or jurors). I also think her attorneys are aware of JA's "skills" and "appeal" and if they think she can garner any sympathy just by taking the stand and will blind anyone on the jury - they might take the risk.

If there were any jurors the defense really liked during voir dire and have felt positive about during trial, why not throw poor, sweet, soft-spoken, tiny, baby-faced, eye-glass wearing knitted sweater wearing JA up to testify. She'll probably break down in tears at some point anyway, who cares if its at the right time or not, she was "abused", she's "battered and broken", she's emotional, throw her on the stand as a hail mary and hope one juror connects with her enough to hang the jury.

Juan will rip her to little shreds but I can see it happening.

I think her attacking him had something to do with something she found on the computer, between sex pics and shower photo shoot. I'm still on the fence on whether she shot him first or last. I can't imagine that she'd testify, but everything else she does and says is so freaking shocking to me, I am not a good judge or prognosticator of her behavior! I wish we had access to their texts and emails during this break!

Back to the Defense's case - premeditated?

You can argue the hairdye was to "spice up her hope to lure him to sex"
You can argue the photos were a "normal event"
You can argue that she was dressed while he was in the shower because she simply got dressed first

I can't 'splain away:
her insistence on the white rental car
the front plate being removed and the back one upside down
the coincidence of her GPs gun being stolen just before this trip
the lack of her ever acknowledging that she did it in a moment of passion/emotion etc

I'm with you. There are quite a few of us. We had a huge debate a few nights ago, and there are quite a few of us. We may be the minority though. Would love a poll on this.

I would love to see a poll!

I was present during that debate the other night but did not chime in. I don't like TO's!
I really have to say.....this murder only makes sense to me if TA was shot first. That's jMO.

I mentioned one of the last pics earlier of just his head while showering. His eyes look dark and upset to me. Something about it.

I said the same thing yesterday. All of the shower pics are taken with the flash off, until that one. I think that's when he finally realized she was there taking them. I think it startled him. It would sure scare the bejeepers out of me if she snuck up on me with a camera. I think a lot of things she did creeped him out (and maybe disgusted him as well). :cold:

Psychopaths are very hedonistic, if she wanted to have sex, IMO it wasn't for intimacy it was only because she enjoys sex. I think she made up her mind and was going to kill him either way. JMO she went through an awful lot of trouble and expense for someone considering that hasn't made up her mind yet.

Right, but why not just kill him when he let her in?

JMO, but what if he flat came out and said I changed my mind and decided to take you on the trip?

Do you think she would have killed him anyway?

Regarding the stalking issue, hearing Martinez argue it yesterday he's clearly concerned about appellate issues thinking bringing up "stalking" that's not been proven and is an entirely different charge could prove "too prejudicial" and warrant a new trial down the road. God knows there will be decades of appeals and he's trying to preserve the conviction. To me it speaks to how strong he thinks his case is and he really doesn't need it. It's almost backward now as the State doesn't need to prove she did it but the defense needs to prove her motive. Makes it kind of interesting. Wonder what this trial would have been like had she stuck with the Ninja story. Longer I'm sure.

Just a thought and JMO buttttt..... Jodi wrote entries in her diary, questioning TA's death and where abouts, and she left voicemails on his machine after his death, appearing to not have any clue about what had just happened. In interviews with officers she is seen trying to explain to the officers that she could "never stab someone" while trying to kill them and "she would have to shoot them." Just as JA made these strategic moves to cover up what she had done... could the brutality of his wounds also have been a way for JA to make it less believeable that it was her who commit the crime?

So I missed everything today. In a nut shell....her friend admitted to not really knowing Jodi at all?

Is that all of the news worthy testimony for today?

the roommate was home at that time.

(conveniently he was not home at the time she killed him... shows further planning to me)

I think Jodi's plan was way before that day. She knew she was losing/lost Travis and sex was about all that was left. If that day didn't change things between them that was the day he would die. IMO

Problem is nobody SAW Jodi slash Travis' tires. So for him to go the police and request a RO based on suspicion is difficult.

Weren't Travis' date's tires slashed also the second time? IIRC from 48 Hours someone said the tire slashing happened 2 nights in a row. The first night Travis' tires were slashed and the second night Travis' tires were slashed again and so were his date's. The fact that the tires were slashed 2 nights in a row indicates that Travis was being followed. There is no one else who could have done this besides Jodi.

I'm listening again to 48 Hours to see if I can

Still would have been some time between the roommate leaving and the sex stuff.

I do. One of the guys on tv last night said she knew in April that she was not invited. I think the car pmts pissed her off too tho. That's 2 months of fury right there.
It just seems to me that the visit, sex, etc was trying to persuade. If it didn't work, she was ready. I don't feel like she thought she was out of the picture. Would she cruel enough for one last romp, then a kill? Or did she give him a chance to change his mind?

I am very curious how she presented Travis to her family if she did at all. Did she call her Mom and tell her how she had met the man of her dreams, her best friend forever and was going to bear his children?

I think in Jodi's mind she had a big fantasy going on. She had met a successful guy who had a lot going for him. In her mind they were going to be together forever. I think Travis had been making the effort to stay away from her and the Cancun trip she was not invited to started her pot on simmer. He had told her he wasn't going to marry her. How much clearer can a person be?

The voicemail she left on Travis' phone a few hours after she killed him is unbelievable and says a lot about her personality.

The truth and evidence vs Jodi's fantasy world in her head to be continued Jan. 29th.

I'd like to see a poll addressing how many people shower with a camera, knife, and/or gun handy.

Normally I stick with shampoo, conditioner, and a loofah. That's just me.

didn't she say (that being circumspect at best) that they slept until around 1300?

the sex pictures were shortly after that

Well, if he hadn't been shot with a .25 caliber gun... would any premeditation be so evident?
