I've gotta run to take a colleague out for a drink....
I'm sure when I tell him I have a murder trial I need to get back to, he'll be very understanding that we need to wrap up.

See you all soon. Good Luck Katie! Good Luck Juan even though you don't read here.

Hi, Lithloren. Thanks for these insights and your moving candor. One question: Why do people think that Travis was gay?

I did not mention this before but on that photbucket account where I found Reciepts there is a picture of something, looks like a MySpace or Facebook posting having to do with Travis. I will not repeat it here, but the user account on photobucket is "wasthinking".

Sequence of Alexander Death
There is a span of about 2 minutes 30 seconds occurring between TA sitting in a fetal posture inside shower stall to the point of slit throat and unconsciousness.
Snipped BM for space

Great post, very plausible scenario. Thanks!

P.S. Article was added in Sequence of Events Thread by nursebee.

Question for the seasoned professionals on this board...could JA win on appeal for ineffective counsel due to the blubbering mess of a female DA?

Just curious....she was a hot mess!

No. Ineffective counsel is something really egregious like sleeping through trial or not bothering to interview any witnesses or make objections to clearly inadmissible evidence. And it has to be something that had some likelihood of affecting the outcome of the trial.

These attorneys are not ineffective, they just have nothing to work with IMO

:what: How much did she pay you?!?!

:floorlaugh: Sorry. I just could.not.resist. Nurse knows how much I love her! (And I am really, really scared of her big needle!)

Kate, didn't you see I switched to a heart for valentine's day (I guess I won't tell you what I am packing inside that heart pillow hahahahaha)

Amusing but scary...I was reading of an appeal a couple of days back in which an attorney had fallen asleep.

The conviction was upheld.

OT: This is off-topic, but while we are waiting, I have to tell you that we reached a record high of 85 degrees F today in Jacksonville. Unbeweavable.

Perhaps this is why this case in particular, has grabbed my attention to the degree it does. I ache for Lisa on that stand. She has to incure the judgement of the religion as well as trial observers - not to mention the defense taking apart an email - word by word. She is doing so well!

First, I am so sorry what you went through in not being supported when raising abuse issues. That would be an awful experience, especially when it is a church family you trust and expect to stand by you.

I can only speak for myself, but, as a Mormon, I have been proud of what Lisa wrote. She loved Travis and it must have been hard for her to love him and still maintain the sexual standards she wanted to have. Instead of giving in for what would make someone else happy, she stood by her values.

Honestly, as a Mormon, I bet that's what Travis liked about her. I bet he admired her strength. On the one hand, Jodi is throwing herself at him. And, on the other, there is someone who has self respect who says she is going to do what she wants to do, when she wants to do it. No matter what - sex, ethics, anything - that is a difficult stand to take when you really care about someone else. I am proud of her and I can see why he liked her.

I hurt for her because I can see that she saw Travis as conflicted and wanted to stay on her own path. I believe she hoped he would choose that path, too. Now that he is gone, I am sure she still cares deeply for him and is pained to read this email listing all his flaws which were important at the time in their personal relationship but seem so unimportant now that he is gone. I personally would not like my break up emails read and aired all over the world.

But, I am with the rest of you. I think she will benefit the prosecution more. She seems able to use her strength to convey all of this for what it was - a break up - and not let the defense carry her down the abuse trail.

And, just to add, in the Mormon world, touching her rearend could be simply patting her on the rump. A devout Mormon girl would be offended by that. I think the defense read that as grabbing her, but it could have been something that is relatively minor to everyone else.
