They didn't waste any time!
They’ll likely will be telling this story 110 years from now and future explorers will want to revisit the site.
They didn't waste any time!
After hearing the story from the previous passenger ( Arthur Loibl)
who reported that the Titan had landed on the deck of the Titanic I can't help but wonder if they attempted this action again and there was a collapse of the deck which caused them to get tangled in the wreckage.....

German who paid OceanGate to see Titanic calls it a 'suicide mission'
Arthur Loibl, 60, dove the 12,500 feet to the Atlantic ocean wreck site in August 2021, and says he was 'incredibly lucky' to survive, saying the Titanic expedition was his most 'extreme' adventure.www.dailymail.co.uk
Apollo 1 Command Module came to my mind
That post is at the beginning of page 8.There was a post earlyish in the last thread that states it was equipped with flares or suchlike and other things that they could use once surfaced. Had a search but can't find the post.
If they have lost all systems I'd be wondering whether they would survive the ascent of 15000 feet. According to this article, after the sub was lost for about 5 hours in a prior dive there was talk of installing an emergency beacon on the exterior. However, if that safety feature was installed and the sub did surface they would have been found by now. They have no means of navigation in the first place. Their navigational system was based on the pings and then the mother ship sending text messages about their position (which surely must have been at the coordinates for the Titanic wreckage or near there, when they began their descent).
They have just darkness outside their window and have lights to shine on the wreckage (likely not working if there's no electricity). Electrical problem could be the precipitating event here.
Once they lost communication via text, they lost their ability to navigate altogether. The article describing last year's trip said that the Titan did get lost at one point. I don't think that every set of passengers has been treated to the actual viewing of the Titanic, because IIRC, last year, the Titan surfaced without seeing the wreck:

Missing Titanic tourist submarine also got lost for a few hours during 2022 trip
The submarine that has gone missing during a tourist trip to the wreckage of the Titanic had gotten lost for about two-and-a-half hours during a similar trip last year.nypost.com
Article also describes an electrical system failure which left them lost and unable to navigate.
IMO.
I feel the same way, sadly. Sound seems to be the only way to pinpoint the location (IF the banging is even coming from the Titan) but I believe that's extremely difficult to do given the way sound travels underwater. Since it was stated that the search area is twice the size of Connecticut, I just don't see a positive ending here.Sadly I am expecting the Titan to be the most recent "lost at sea" and will be searched for by the hunters for years and possibly never found. It took 75 years to find the Titanic as large as it was.

Why Finding and Rescuing the Titan Sub Is So Challenging—Even for Militaries
The private tourist submarine operates at depths few people visit. Unfortunately, that includes the navies of the world.www.popularmechanics.com
Yeah but didn’t I read that once they got to the surface they had more ways to signal? Anyone else remember reading that? That’s one reason I’ve been pretty sure they did not surface.
Bbm.Boat company asked if families on board search vessels
Several journalists have been asking questions at this press conference, and Sean Leet is asked whether families of those on the Titan are on board the Polar Prince vessel which is searching for the missing sub.
He tells reporters "that's a question I can't answer".
Asked whether there was anything capable of lifting the Titan from such depths, he says:
"The equipment that is on site and coming to site .... is certainly capable of reaching those depths.2
The equipment being used in the search is the "finest in the world, the most capable in the world", he says, adding that it was mobilised "flawlessly".
And that's the end of the press conference.
