I had read one article stating 8 passengers but the link about the Titan says it seats 5. If it had more on board than allowed could be the problem. Just speculating, not fact. They don't know how many people are on board?!?!?!?!?

Missing Submersible: Vessel Disappears During Dive to the Titanic Wreck Site (Published 2023)
Five people were in the submersible, which lost contact with a surface vessel on Sunday morning, the Coast Guard said. A search and rescue mission is underway in the North Atlantic.www.nytimes.com
Yeah, I strongly suspect if they find it, they're going to find there was catastrophic failure, and they're going to find evidence of explosive decompression. Incredibly unpleasant, but in its favour, at that depth, a very quick death. You couldn't pay me to go down there in that sub. !
Hope they find the missing people soon, an accident at that depth would be close to catastrophic.
I enjoy swimming and free diving in pools, lakes, and the ocean, and even at a depth of less than 20 feet, you can feel the pressure on your body and lungs.
Imagine a breach happening at the depth of more than two miles.
Ugh.![]()
Anyone having any luck with this (^) ???Here's a website with live tracking of ships. Might be able to find the rescue ships

(I don't see US Coast Guard C-130 but I don't know to utilize search feature)
Me too. I think that’s the most likely scenario here by far.Yeah, I strongly suspect if they find it, they're going to find there was catastrophic failure, and they're going to find evidence of explosive decompression. Incredibly unpleasant, but in its favour, at that depth, a very quick death.
MOO
Okay.....The U.S. Coast Guard has launched a search for a missing tourist submarine that disappeared on Sunday after it went to explore the wreck of the Titanic, the agency told NBC Boston. It is not yet known how many people were on the craft when it disappeared.![]()
Coast Guard searches for missing vessel visiting Titanic wreck with 5 people on board
The vessel lost contact with its mother ship an hour and 45 minutes after its dive began Sunday, the Coast Guard said.www.nbcnews.com
OceanGate Expeditions, a private company that charters trips to explore the Titanic wreckage, said it was working with numerous government agencies to aid in the rescue of its crew.
"Our entire focus is on the crew members in the submersible and their families, we are deeply thankful for the extensive assistance we have received from several government agencies and deep sea companies in our efforts to reestablish contact with the submersible," the company said in a statement.
The submarine was part of an OceanGate tour to explore the iconic Titanic wreckage, located 900 nautical miles east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. But it failed to return on Sunday...
RSBMOkay.....
#1. How is it not known how many people were on the craft when it disappeared? Wouldn't the company keep a log of that sort of thing?
I don't think so. The British guy described himself as a "mission specialist", so I think crew members includes people who have paid to go on board.Okay.....

#2. Is it possible it was only employess , and no paying customers who were on board as the company said "Our entie focus is on the crew members in the submersible and their families."
When I read that I thought, what about the passengers, don't you care about them? but now that you mention it, maybe only crew members were on the submersibleOkay.....
