Authorities believe, hope Evelyn Boswell is still alive
[...]

More than 425 tips about Evelyn have come in since last week, but none has resulted in a credible sighting or her recovery. Seabolt said those tips have not focused on “any specific area” but have been “widespread and have been from coast to coast.”

He also urged the public not to rely on Facebook for information about the case.

[...]

The TBI also released a statement Monday regarding the investigation.

“During the investigation, authorities have received a number of conflicting statements. That, combined with the fact that Evelyn was not immediately reported missing, makes this a complicated case,” according to the statement. “December 26 is listed as the date she was last seen. However, the child’s mother — along with others connected to the child — has given conflicting dates.”

Court documents reveal owner of stolen BMW in Evelyn Boswell disappearance

Updated: Feb 25, 2020 / 12:42 PM EST

According to an affidavit from the General Sessions Court of Sullivan County, Tennessee, the gray BMW was reported stolen by the owner, Melissa Wood, on February 20.

The affidavit says Wood had planned to sell the BMW to Megan Boswell, but no agreement of purchase was made and no money was exchanged when Megan’s mother, Angela Boswell, 47, reportedly stole it.

Court documents say Wood was unable to make contact with Angela Boswell.

Officials issued a BOLO for the BMW, saying the individuals traveling in it were suspected to have information regarding Evelyn’s disappearance.

The vehicle was spotted by deputies with the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office on February 21 in Elkin, N.C. It was later stopped in Traphill, N.C.

William McCloud, 33, was identified as the driver, and Angela Boswell was identified as the passenger.

Grandmother of missing toddler Evelyn Boswell to remain jailed as investigation continues
[...]

Angela Boswell, 42, of Kingsport, sat in the Sullivan County jail Tuesday morning and appeared for arraignments in two different courtrooms via video conferencing.

[...]

Boswell was arraigned in a Bristol courtroom Tuesday on a charge of theft of property over $2,500 in connection to the stolen car. A judge set her bond at $5,000, with the condition she wear an ankle monitor, and set another court date for March 4.

[...]

But Boswell didn't get out of jail. Before she could make bond, a bondsman revoked her bond from a previous, unrelated case, according to Sullivan County Sheriff's Office Capt. Andy Seabolt.

"She will remain incarcerated regardless of anything in Bristol General Sessions Court, where she had a bond set this morning," Seabolt said.

Also Tuesday, Boswell was arraigned in a Kingsport courtroom on several violation of probation charges, a court clerk said. She has a hearing scheduled there Thursday.

Megan Boswell speaks out about search for Evelyn, says she left her with the grandmother
[...]

Megan "Maggie" Boswell, Evelyn’s mother, says she went to Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office to volunteer to take a lie-detector test.

But she says she was sent away because she is pregnant.

According to TBI’s official policy, a pregnant mother in her first trimester can undergo a polygraph. In the second and third trimester they need a written note from her doctor. Ultimately it is up to the discretion of the examiner if they will perform the test.

'Stick to the official sources' | Social media helps, hinders search for Evelyn Boswell
[...]

With as much interaction as this AMBER Alert is getting online, it's easy for the truth to get a little muddled.

[...]

"There are a number of people sharing information on social media that's not accurate and it's not factual and in some cases that can hinder the investigation," said Leslie Earhart with the TBI.

[...]

"The fact that there's such a low barrier to entry into social media conversations means that anyone can interject and speculate and there's potential for those stories, whether they're real or not, to catch on and be spread," said Boatwright.

Any possible tips posted online aren't making it to the people who can investigate.

[...]

True and confirmed information will come from the TBI, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office and local news outlets, which get information directly from those agencies.

"Stick to the official sources and don't necessary believe everything you see online," said Earhart.
