No body found in search for Evelyn Boswell at North Carolina pond, authorities say

A rescue team searched the pond using a remote-operated vehicle after a tip was submitted to North Carolina authorities.

That tip was one of more than 570 that have been checked out by police in the ongoing investigation, said Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Leslie Earhart, adding that investigators have not verified whether Evelyn was taken across state lines.

"All tips have to be checked out just to make sure," she said.

The probe has yielded few answers. Family members of Evelyn, some of whom have violent criminal histories, have only complicated matters by giving conflicting, changing statements to investigators. Three people have been arrested, though no one has been directly charged in the toddler's disappearance.

CA told WVLT News that she has known Megan since they were in high school. CA said when they talked in March 2019, Megan wanted to go back to work and was looking for a babysitter.

On February 21, CA said Megan texted her, "I'm scared. I was scared of the person who took her." That night, CA said Megan talked to her differently.

CA said the situation "doesn't add up" and added that, "I did at first [believe her] but as the interviews went on, I think she knows. I think she knows where Evelyn is, and I think she knows who has her."

I 'gave them DNA' says William McCloud on search for missing Tenn. toddler

William McCloud, the boyfriend of Angela Boswell, spoke to WVLT News reporter Gwendolyn Ducre from jail in Sullivan County.

McCloud told WVLT News that he has only seen Evelyn "twice in my life," and that was when he began a relationship with Angela, which he said was in June 2019.

McCloud said Angela and Megan were not estranged but "they just had some issues where they weren't getting along." McCloud said they began talking when Angela wanted to see Evelyn again, "but she [Megan] can't never come up with a reason to produce the kid."

McCloud said" I don't have a clue" as to where Evelyn could be. He added that he didn't know Megan that well and that the situation is "confusing" and "scary."

"I just want to help find where the kid is and make sure she's okay," he told WVLT News. He also said that he volunteered to take a polygraph and gave investigators his DNA.

"I've answered questions to the best of my knowledge. I've volunteered the polygraph and everything."

McCloud said he has not spoken to Angela in several days as they have both been jailed.

McCloud's bond was set at $500,000. The bail-bondsman said the bond was set high, "probably hoping that" McCloud wouldn't post bond on Wednesday night.

... McCloud is set for arraignment on February 27.

Wednesday night, Seabolt told News Channel 11 that they are being held in the general population holding area with other inmates, though they are being separated from each other. He added that the Sullivan County Jail is not equipped at this time to specifically hold the two Boswells in solitary confinement.

Wilkes Co. search for missing Tennessee toddler 'inconclusive'
...staff at Lowe's Motel in Wilkesboro tell WXII 12 News that William McCloud and Angela Boswell stayed at the hotel last week. Hotel staff also says they did not see a child with the couple.

MM said her grandson and his girlfriend, Angela Boswell, were in Wilkes County last week to visit an aunt. They stayed at the Lowe’s Motel in nearby Wilkesboro, she said. The woman said she was told there was a water line break in the room at the motel, which cost her grandson some money.

The woman said her grandson then came to her house to borrow money, which is the only time she said he usually visits. Angela Boswell stayed in the BMW when they stopped at McCloud’s house, according to his grandmother, who said he didn’t mention Evelyn.

On February 26, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office held a press conference after the arrest of Megan Boswell.

Just after 4 p.m., it was reported that the property at the center of the search for Evelyn in Wilkes County, North Carolina was connected to Boswell through family. Property records show a home near the pond is owned by a family member of William McCloud — the boyfriend of Evelyn's grandmother.

At around 5:20 p.m., the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office announced the search for Evelyn in the pond was inconclusive. Investigators used a Remote Operated Vehicle to search the pond and found nothing.

On Wednesday evening, a friend of Megan Boswell's spoke to WVLT News. The friend said she believed Megan knew where Evelyn was and who had her. Investigators have said that Megan has continued to offer conflicting stories.

Later that evening, WVLT News spoke with McCloud over the telephone. McCloud had called A-Hood Bonding in Kingsport, Tennessee, and WVLT News reporter Gwendolyn Ducre interviewed him via the phone.

McCloud said he had only seen Evelyn one or two times since he began dating Angela Boswell in June 2019. He said he had offered to do a polygraph test and offered his DNA to investigators.

Court documents say the BMW belonged to Melissa Wood and has an estimated value of $4,500.

McCloud was extradited back to Tennessee with Angela and was arraigned by video in Sullivan County Sessions Court on Thursday morning.

McCloud was arraigned on a charge of theft of property over $2,500.

He is currently being held on a $10,000 bond in Sullivan County with the condition that he wear an ankle monitor.

McCloud’s next court date has not been scheduled yet.

Angela’s next court appearance in Kingsport court was scheduled for April 30 at 9:30 a.m.

Angela has paid all but $1,000 of her bond regarding her charge of probation violation out of Kingsport.

She is also facing a charge of theft of property over $2,500 in Sullivan County General Session Court in Bristol.

Angela’s bond for her theft of property charge was set at $5,000 with the condition that she wears an ankle monitor if her bond is posted.

She is due back in court in Bristol on March 4.

According to Commander Randy Dimmett at the Yadkinville Police Department, the tip came in Thursday morning that Evelyn was spotted with her grandmother, Angela Boswell, and Boswell’s boyfriend, William McCloud, two to three weeks ago at the KFC.

The tip came in from an employee, according to police.

Police confirmed that they were reviewing security footage and interviewing employees.

The KFC is located on South State Street in Yadkinville, North Carolina.

Sullivan County jail records reveal Megan Boswell, the mother at the center of a statewide AMBER alert, is not pregnant.

"I am pregnant....that's why they wont give me a polygraph. Due to policy if you are pregnant they will not give you one."

Sheriffs Office records reveal that on Monday, Feb. 24th there were 4 pregnant inmates housed at the Sullivan County jail.

On Tuesday, when Megan Boswell was booked into jail at 9:09 p.m., there was still only 4 inmates listed as pregnant.

That number remained the same until 11 p.m. when a fifth pregnant woman was booked in. No other pregnant inmate was released.
