Just saw this... (bbm)

ETA: I wonder if that one clue is figuring out who some DNA matches?

Yes, Boulder is just a DNA match away from solving a case too...

No. The abductor wanted Holly...and Holly only. He didn't want the community. Others might not be safe, but it won't be in this community next time.

And, you know this for a fact, especially if he's local?

Notice in the article just mentioned a few posts back.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20062568-504083.html

"Tennessee Bureau of Investigation officials said they are getting more leads than they can handle, including hundreds of calls about rumors. They ask only people with serious information to call 800-TBI-FIND."

I think that answers why the family, LE, TBI are not going to the media...

Also - very exciting and hopeful reading,
"investigators say they think they are just one clue away from cracking the case" !!!

I am not as excited about the "one clue away" as you are. Every case is one clue away from being solved.

What I said was my opinion...my very strong opinion. I doubt very seriously that the person who abducted Holly just "happened" upon her. He most likely had an intense attraction to her and wanted to have her as his own. I would bet a years salary that this abductor would never go back to that small community to abduct another citizen. I also feel that this person WILL do it again if he is allowed to get away with Holly's abduction. I'm just feeling that he will not strike twice in the same community. This town is just too small. This is my opinion.

It's hard to hold up MSM as a good example for reliable information when Nashville's NBC channel entitles a piece,
"Investigators close to cracking Holly Bobo case," then backs it up with no new evidence, just the same old platitudes.

That link's not working for me but the page I got did ask me if I wanted to be a writer for the Examiner.

That's really odd. I quoted it from cluciano63 and looked at it myself just a couple of hours ago:

cluciano63 said:

This article has a quote that Nickell was ruled out in an attempted kidnapping in Dickson County...

I tried to look at it again and it didn't work. They must have just taken it down.

Personally, I see a major difference in the 2. DNA match is just that, they still need somebody to match it with, that narrows it down to millions. IMO when police say they are close and just need one piece of info, that tells me they know who did it but are needing confirmation on a piece of evidence.

I can see where others would or could view it differently, but this is how I view it.

I sure hope you are right, Dave!

Results back on a piece of evidence would not really be a clue in my book. Since they still want that "one lead" that might come from the public, I am not getting that this is all about awaiting test results.

I can't think of a case where the family did not want any media attention after this long, with a child missing. She still needs to be found, even if they do have a suspect (perhaps). I hope LE knows what they are doing, I am not one who automatically assumes that they do. Every case is different and this may be one that simply baffles them, so they are going with the old "silence is golden" rule.

I think most of us are thinking about this in the context of our own lives, where we live, and how we would react. But, this family is from a very small town. Much smaller than most of us can comprehend. How many of us have the first idea what it's like to live in a town so small you could know the entire police department by name?

When you live in Seattle, or Portland, and possible suspects are greatly more anonymous and far flung than they would be here, going on GMA or Today, or Nancy Grace, may help find your child. When you live in tiny little Parson's, your child disappeared from your own yard in the woods, and your everyday world consists of 2500 people, most of whom you know (or think you do), going on GMA is probably not going to have much of a payoff compared to the amount of criticism you'll receive on everything you say and do. Or don't say and do.

Think about the word parsing that went on, both here and elsewhere, after every press briefing by LE. Can you imagine how thoroughly (and in some cases heartlessly) their every word would be dissected?

After thinking it over for quite a while, I don't think I would recommend someone in their particular situation put themselves through an MSM feeding frenzy. Your mileage may vary of course. :innocent:

I have never heard such foolishness...
"only people with serious information should call."
Sorry TBI, but the average Joe has no idea what might be serious and what might be flighty. We don't know what rumors might be truth or what truth might be clues, or what clue might be the very one you're all looking for.

If they were one clue away, this little news release would be totally unnecessary.

I was only thinking about Will Nunley's baffled -sounding tweet yesterday that they would not talk to him. He seems like the best possible media option, from what I've seen, for any size town. I don't think Holly ever left TN so I don't think national coverage is really going to help anyway.

Oh no, someone posting on another thread here that her body has been found...going to look for a link...:(

I THINK the poster may have had her confused with Sarah Townsend (whose body was found today).
