I keep trying to think of what more we could do to help if we are not from the area.
I think someone brought up a good idea awhile back. If there was a current satellite photo of the area where we could zoom in and search from our computers, we could split up the area in grid searches and slowly but surely end up searching a lot of ground that way. But the application would have to be able to zoom down to very detailed view, like where a soda can could be found and seen.
I think I heard something similar was done in the case of a missing plane + pilot who ditched the plane. I think in a suicide or something.
Maybe this could be the future of these kinds of searches if the people who run those satellite earth image websites could get current views with enough detail where people could do this type of searching as a volunteer group around the nation or world.
Would have to have the proper application, and then some sort of organization in how the searching could be assigned to different people in different GPS coordinates or something.
If only. No doubt there would be a whole bunch of us searching if this was available to the public. *sigh*
Do you know what program was used for that airplane search you referred to in your post? TIA
