But wasn't Karla forced to leave Canada after she served her time? For some reason I thought that was in a book I read years ago about her and Paul (can't remember the name of the book...it was during one of my fogs :( )

It is irritating to think of Karla living in the Caribbean with her 3 children. She was evil...

She fully participated in what her husband was doing. The only reason she is out today is because she pleaded a deal (yay JM for not allowing such things). Karla basically assisted her husband in almost everything he did and most Canadian's (including myself) are still so mortified by the thought that was allowed that we basically pretend it didn't happen.

Karla is as vile and hideous as JA.

JA's trial is still in court. I hope the judge will start to be a judge!

I no longer have faith in "justice".

Sociopaths generally have no interest in getting pregnant/procreating. Geez, they wouldn't want anything to do with having a responsibility to raise anyone or any thing.

The "pet" thing. Mine had one. Took him for his walk EVERY single day for three years. When he got sick? 6 months of barfing. The dog was barfing, whimpering, all over the house with our toddler crawling around...He did NOTHING until I told him I would take the dog to the vet to have him taken down. I cried for the dog. I never once saw him shed a tear.

To this day, people remarked as to how much he "loved" his dog. For SIX months this dog could not hold his food down. He basically was starving to death.

He took the dog out for a walk every single day that I ever knew him. That is, until his dog couldn't walk anymore.

This is what these "creatures" are about.

moo

ETA - JA's pic with the chocolate lab doesn't do "anything" for me. The sociopath I knew would have happily taken a pic with the dog that he treated like chit.

My husband had a friend who did the same type of thing to his pet. The dog was constantly sick but never went to the vet becuase of "money issues". Yet he could buy cigarettes, beer and go on binges. The dog's hair was falling out, he was constantly sneezing, scratching and rubbing his body on the furniture while crying. The house smelled very bad from it. It was agonizing to see but I was being told that he was going to the vet and getting shots for it. It went on like this for years until his wife finally left him for his "rage".

It's hard to find a place to crash with a mangy sick dog. Instead of taking the dog to the Humane society to at least be put down he drove 30 miles away, then into a neighborhood and left him. He drove away with the dog chasing the car. His excuse? Someone kind will find his dog and keep him. The dog looked HORRIBLE no one would ever go near it and he was so family oriented it must have been torture to be left like that. I knew he probably got hit by a car or attacked by other dogs.

This guy still claimed up and down that he loved his dog very much. When I found out the truth he was no longer allowed to be around my home or family. If you can do a thing like that there is something very wrong with your head and I don't trust you.

When he found out that he was no longer allowed in my house and my husband was done with him too he called and threatened my life for weeks. Said he was going to stick a shot gun in my mouth and blow my head off. I was truly terrified. I filed a report with the police and with 911 so if my number popped up but I could not speak they will know there is a history of threats to my life and by who.

I don't believe so. I know she lived in Montreal for awhile after she was released. I'm from the same city where the murders occurred and where her family and victim's family still live. It was a very scary time. She is a monster. After all she did though she made a deal and had very limited jail time. She also took part in jail activities...fashion shows, singing, hanging out with her jail friends. Many Canadians were and still are disgusted and felt justice wasn't served. Don't get me started about her partner in crime, PB. Sick people!!!:banghead:
They just aired a show on her and her hubby a couple of night ago, including "some" of the tapes. She served what 12 years?
She must be mental, or there is no way she could live with killing her own sister, among others.
(By mental - I do not mean not responsible - she should have gone to death row.)

Did I ask if she was the lady who puked? (JM impression)

ETA: Yup. I was commenting on how that lady in the picture got her drink in the courtroom.

Too funny JM style

I think the Defense is in trouble and 'behind schedule.' I think by now they wanted the jury to believe that she had PTSD---but NOT from the events of June 4th. I think they need her to be seen as having PTSD from Travis's 'abuse.' And Samuels has not been able to deliver on that. He is struggling from Juan's brutal cross, and he is clinging to his assertion that Jodi has PTSD, even if only because of her own violent actions.

Not wanting to continue being OT here...just wanted to clear something up. I used Karla's case as a comparison to the OP reference that in Canada the defendant would be in a prisoner's box during trial and not as free as JA.

IMO the police had enough evidence against PB (including the evidence against him as a serial rapist and the 3 murders - her sister, and two other young girls). They didn't need KH to turn on him and cut a deal. He would still have been put away for life. She was just as culpable in the murders IMO and should have been locked up forever.

Anyway...again this is not the place to debate the two cases. I still believe the Canadian system needs to be tougher on criminals....BUT that is just my opinion.

Hmm ... why wasn't this incident brought out on direct exam of either Arias or Samuels ? Sounds fishy to me ... like maybe the DT concocted this fable last night over 2nd and 3rd helpings at the Golden Corral.
They're at Swiss Chalet tonight. Waiting with baited breath. Special sauce?

Evening all! At the Dr's office today ALL day. Cable is out because my HDMI cord is messed up...

Help! What did I miss?

Oh no! It was a good day to skip though. Willmott finished redirect with Samuels and somehow managed to produce no testimony of note, then someone barfed in the courtroom and they called it a day.

HA. After I posted that I realized that might be your answer.:giggle:

Who knows...maybe that WAS a goal of hers but she just didn't get pregnant. Anal and BJs won't get you pregnant and just because you have vaginal sex doesn't mean you will automatically get knocked up either.

The only reason I think that MIGHT not have been a goal of Jodi's is because she is such a narrcisst and obsessed with travis affection, a baby might have been a threat to jodi.

Moo:fence:

So true that even in this day and age there are some things we don't control.

It took me and my ex 3 years of trying and disappointment until we were blessed with my lil Knot!

And we then tried again for #2 and after 3 years and a miscarriage finally decided to be happy with the blessings we held.

All this to say, not everyone gets knocked up just because they want to.

I think she is guilty of premediated murder! I also think Juan needs to stop his badgering. It would turn me off as a juror, I would think why is he trying so hard?

MOO is that its obvious what the man is working so hard at and its getting justice for Travis and his loved ones ..and IMO that includes setting the record straight about the God forsaken filth that this murdering wench has spewed from her mouth repeatedly and exhaustively that Travis was beating off to pictures of young boys!

IMO that's exactly what Juan Martinez is working his 🤬🤬🤬 off to prove and moo is he's doing a damn good job at it..

This is MOO and fortunately we're all entitled to see it differently, tho..

More inappropriate cackling from the murderer <modsnip>....

Can someone just page me when we get to closing arguments??

I think we're all going to lose our ever lovin minds before this trial is over. By yesterday a.m. I had had about enough. Turned the TV on in the kitchen and between yesterday and today, the kitchen walls are scrubbed, curtains washed and appliances, counters and cupboards are all polished. When I'm upset, I look like a dustbuster in action.

Not sure ... she probably under the protected witness program.

I read that book years ago also- should read it again.

Karla was not forced to leave the Country, nor is she under any witness protection program. She fled Canada of her own free will because she was relentlessly hounded by the press after she was released. She is currently married to her lawyer's brother, and (I believe) has three children. Scary isn't it?

From the mouths of babes...the high school girl who is a Dr. Drew juror says the testimony today was repetitive, jury bored and "what does POST traumatic stress have to do with PRE meditation or this crime"

I think she is guilty of premediated murder! I also think Juan needs to stop his badgering. It would turn me off as a juror, I would think why is he trying so hard?

Because he believes in justice and fighting for it. God bless him.

He does not badger witnesses. I have seen worse Prosecutors in other cases that screamed to the top of their lungs and the Judges allowed it. This is not a walk in the park. Cross examination is suppose to be confrontational and then add that to a doctor who is inept, clueless and less than credible.........Juan did the right thing.

I have been a juror 5 times. I find Juan Martinez to be the best Prosecutor I have ever seen since watching criminal cases. I would have liked to have seen some of the Prosecutors on the cases I served on that has this much passion when seeking justice for the victim.

I am in awe of Juan and I am riveted every time he is up. The only ones that seem to criticize him are the ones that are not in the courtroom. Everyone that has been in that courtroom day in and day out... including Beth Karas...said in all of her years as a commentator in courtrooms he is by far the best she has ever seen.

If he was badgering the Judge would tell him to stop. He doesn't have to play Mr. Nice Guy with not so nice people.

IMO

Hey! I'm in Canada too. You can't compare Karla to Jodi. Karla made her deal before LE found the videos showing she was an active participant in the crimes. Holmoka got lucky. Jodi had no such option. Too much forensic evidence to prove she did it. With the Bernardo/Holmoka case, if they found the videos beforehand, Karla would also be serving a life sentence. The cops screwed up for not finding the videos in the house before her deal, but come on! No comparison.
<

I am in Canada too. I HATE that Homlka got off with such a light sentence. She was obviously in a sex-slave relationship with Bernardo, but she should have NEVER been allowed to walk free (after 12 short years).

Anyway, back on topic. There is NO screw up by the cops in this case. Jodi Arias should fry this brutal murder-slaughter. The more I watch this case and listen to the way they are trying to trash Travis, the sicker I feel about this whole thing. How many times to we have to kill this guy. I feel for his poor family .... and, of course ... for him. Please please give her death ... jury:please:. I have never been a supporter of the DP ... but this is the first time I have ever felt it should be applied.

But Clancy had been drinking, so her testimony about those events would be called into question.

And the defense would also say " did she hit you or harm you in any way?'

I don't think it would really be that helpful in the end. JMO

Clancy was on the NG show tonight...Jodi took offense when Travis walked Clancy back to her seat, but it was the following day when Jodi confronted her. She felt threatened and was relieved when her friend came back into the rest room to see what was taking so long.

Ugh, I just plugged in the old fashioned way, with the red, white and yellow spare jacks that I had. What is with the freaky hair flipping video?!

While I have a moment before the bill comes, can I just say that I often look at my daughter and say " I can't believe I made her"". Then I see this picture of JA's Mom and think....what is she thinking? Perhaps the same thing, different emotion? As in, I can't believe I made a cold blooded murderer? That has to feel very, very, harrowing....

BBM

I can't tell you how many times I have thought about this. I also know I started thinking about this more when JA was on the stand & stated that her relationship with her mother is strained. (iirc, that was the word she used)

How *does* JA's mom feel? How is she not just falling all to pieces in the courtroom? Seriously. I know we're all wired differently....but I would just be in shambles.

As mothers, I feel we all want our children to be the best. Whether it's being the best manager at McDonald's, or the best nuclear physicist. However, being the best crazy ex girlfriend & killer.....that's nowhere on our list, imo.

Do she & JAs dad talk about the trial at home? Is she afraid of her own daughter? I have so many questions about this.....

I wish I could remember the name of the book...just remember that it had a picture on the cover of she and Paul on their wedding day. I do remember, however, that of all the books I read back then (I really loved Ann Rule's books the best!) it was one where the crimes were so horrific that I would actually have to put the book down and walk away...
