I agree that the gay comments are distasteful, but some of her testimony so far has sounded like she is somewhat biased against men -- at least in the domestic violence context.

IMO, a woman's sexual preference for other women has nothing to do with, and is completely unrelated to the issue of whether she is "biased against men."

i can see it coming...since she was hit with a wooden spoon, slapped by her father, she is going to be a woman who was used to being abused. so she let herself be abused and kept coming back for more. REALLY?? this witness wants to more jobs..she was willing to take on this high profile case to get her 15 minutes.

Well, she's created her own abuse continuum redefining a spectrum of sorts for abusive relationships and authored a paper on male abuse victims, essentially stating, females aren't prone to battering as often as men and really, professionals shouldn't become ensued in a gender war anyway... so I'm thinking, no?

Initially she does seem to be biased toward males being abusive toward females but I guess we'll see if it's one-sided.

To our legal eagles on this site: How much does the defense share with an expert witness? Do they have full access to the evidence? Or is the evidence "cherry-picked" to help the defense?

I am interested in her history in domestic violence programs. I was almost choked to death by my ex-husb in 1979 and there was really no help/counseling back then. Cops dumped me in some horrible Salvation Army (I think) shelter. That was it. Things were very different back then.

Fair enough. I'll keep an open mind. There was just one comment early on from her that kind of made me cringe because it sounded like she only believes that women can be abuse victims - and I work closely with male domestic abuse victims, so I'm kind of biased myself.

Understandable... I'd bet no domestic violence expert could treat and study only male victims. They would starve to death! There is such a stigma attached ... It's like male victims of sexual assault. In our society ... It's just not encouraged to report, acknowledged or understood by the public.
