Court hears from Dr. Pollanen (the pathologist performed #ToriStafford's autopsy). His slides show Tori's body as found on July 19, 2009

The rocks around and on top of #ToriStafford acted as a "grave" around her remains, he tells court #Rafferty

  • Pollanen said the difficulty was removing the bags without altering the positioning of the body.

#Rafferty's lawyer has no more questions for Scoyne. Crown redirects. Also asking about silo location at crime scene.

I'm way behind and trying to catch up but I think the cross was an attempt to discredit where TLM says she walked away and was standing while she was looking around. In other words - to show that TLM did NOT walk away, that she saw everything either from the car while driving or from the the assault site.

More and more, I am tending to believe her first confession. This is so sad. :(

Okay - back to catching up.

The garbage bags were stained by decompositional fluid. Also had pine needles and dirt on them, Pollanen says.

Pollanen describing how he cut the bag open without altering the body.

The body had been covered by two garbage bags. Pollanen detailing how bags were removed to examine remains

Pollanen cut along the seem of the bag with a scalpel.

The poor little baby .... I cannot imagine how her family must feel seeing and hearing all of this testimony ... my heart just breaks for Tori and her family.

yes I understand what you mean...actually visited a Mennonite farm back in the fall and was shocked at the conditions of the rabbit barn and the chicken barn/coop...poor little buggers never saw the light of day...sure changed my attitude about Mennonites...couldn't keep my mouth shut and had to walk away from the tour guide and the rest of the group...also on that visit I noticed children in the fields and it was explained that they were picking up rocks which they have to do once the fields are harvested and before they are planted in the spring...guess they either grow or are thrown up because of frost...:moo: MOO but as usual I have to say I am still surprised that a farmer used to odours would not have notice something...just saying...

Maybe the farmer had a head cold that day.

The remains of #ToriStafford were found in two garbage bags. One covered top of her body; the second covered the lower portion, he says

Showing jurors which portions of the bag were damaged.

I'm grateful Tori had such a reputable, experienced professional looking after her. I think this Mr. Pollanen used every iota of his knowledge, experience and skill to bring justice to the victim.

Next slide is from the autopsy room. Pollanen warns the following photos will be "very confronting". "Let science be your guide," he says.

Pollanen tells jury next photos will be "confronting." Jury should look at them scientifically not emotionally

Also asks jurors not to let emotion cloud their judgement. Hundreds of photos were taken. Only key ones presented.

Dr. Pollanen tells the jury though the images might be "confronting" there are things to be learned from them

If the forensic anthropologist is who I think she is, she is also a caring person who I know personally from university. JMO
