She is saying that Rafferty is the one who told her about the theory of why Tori was taken and that it was linked to James Goris who he stated was pedophile and a drug debt for coke that Tara had. I really have to think this is going to be associated with the "interest" Rafferty had with Tori and this case. This "interest" was brought up in the Crown's opening statements. Was he participating in online forums on facebook or even on here? Did he start some of the rumours himself, I wonder? I find this VERY VERY interesting. JMO

I really have to agree with you Matou!!! Not so much for MR - he was too busy driving around town, picking up chicks, looking to get rid of his car and getting a new blackberry .... but the lawyers!!! Hell, they could have joined here for all we know (looks suspiciously over shoulder) ... but even a good read here would bring up a lot of what appeared to be bits and pieces ... string em together and you have a defence.

This sounds like MTR was reading all the dirt that was brought up about them on FaceBook and relayed it to her.

These rumours were all over Woodstock from the moment it was announced that Tori was missing. The info didn't have to come from Facebook; it was even in the media. This is from May 14, 2009.

Rumours of a drug debt have swirled around the case since eight-year-old Tori vanished after school on April 8.

I'm not even sure it was necessarily MTR who told these rumours to TLM. Anyone she was in contact with before and after her initial arrest could have told her. MTR didn't have to know TM or JG to have heard or read the rumours, either. They were rampant and Tara denied them, although she now admits that JG did have a $400 debt. As for the "other" rumour, that, too, was all over town and the internet, with documentation showing what it was based on.

They did both know TLM. I don't remember ever reading that any of them knew who MTR.

I vaguely remember reading something about TS's mom TM knowing of MTR from the bar Charlie's in Woodstock. imo

Just curious, but do these people have no security on their Facebook accounts? How do LE, reporters, etc. get this Facebook information? Befriending under false pretenses, hacking?

Shortly after her arrest when her name was mentioned in the media I remember looking at her facebook. It was open for the world to see!!!! The friends on her list filled her page with hate messages. Within a week of her arrest, her account disappeared.

Yep, I know she did. That doesn't mean I have to believe her. Not a very credible witness, we've been told. She also said:

Sometimes I have doubts about her testimony. Especially when I read Tweets like this one:

I'm not saying it's not true. It could be. Only saying that I take everything TLM says with a grain of salt and that even if MTR was the one who told her, he could have heard about it anywhere and anytime after Tori's disappearance. So far, we've only heard from Derstine that it was TLM who spread those rumours (which were not entirely baseless), not MTR. Just her word against his at this point.

There were at least four WS members who said they knew MR personally. None of them joined (and as far as I know, were even interested in) Websleuths until after his arrest. Some several weeks after. Their shock was palpable.

I remember this AG, someone here mentioned that MR hung out at Good Times, we all knew that TM and JG did as well. With W being a small city, we figured they must have, at the least, bumped into each other at sometime or other.
