I am sure right now MR is taking the lord he did take Derstein. Look at all the trouble Matheson is in himself.... Seems to me Derstein is a better lawyer anyways. JMHO

I ask also because it seems that whenever RS is talking to the media its as if he wants to badly to blurt something out.

Rodney Stafford frustrated by inabilty to talk about trial "you can't talk about it, there are so many gag orders" -Rafferty trial transcripts day 1 LFPress

I wonder what RS meant by that.

While I understand keeping the media away from the jury, for various reasons (including the media's tendency to bug and question people, wouldn't want one of them to try to get to one of the jurors and potentially influence their opinion), but I am curious as to why MR was hidden. If they were afraid for his safety, they wouldn't have brought him along. I will assume that the general public was NOT allowed near the scene, and the chances of somebody from the media going after him is very slim. I would understand the media to be instructed NOT to report on his presence until after he has left, and not to take any photographs of him... but... I don't get why he was hidden.

Anybody have any idea why this might have been done?

The only reason I can think of is that someone may try to assassinate him. There must be a lot of people out there who hate him. That may not be the official reason, but JMO.

Indeed, that was my first thought, but then I figured that if the public isn't allowed near the scene, and the reporters do not wish to lose their jobs/freedom... once he gets there, he really isn't in that much danger.
Unless he asked to be hidden? I imagine, guilty or innocent, he is probably pretty embarrassed/ashamed and he might not want people to see him.

I wonder if police can determine where exactly was RM's phone when it pinged off the cell tower... I wonder if they can tell that by the strength of the signal in relation to the tower.

IMO could be many reasons. Maybe LE didn't want him to have the privilage of walking on "free" grounds. Or possibly since the jurors were going to be moving about freely they didn't want them to feel intimidated. Or out of respect for Tori it was decided he would NOT stand on earth where she was killed. Or maybe LE didn't want his team to be able to claim cross contamination. Or maybe that place is spookey enough without him all up in it.

Considering the connection WK (of the Bandidos) has to Tori's family, there may have been extra precautions taken wrt MTR's safety. JMO

bet LE had to give him a vest to wear.

Glad everything went accordingly.
No chance of mistrial thus far :O)

I hope Tori's spirit is at peace today despite MR's visit.

Cops hid #Rafferty at crime scene but i have it confirmed he was there looking with jurors.

Why did they hide him were they afraid someone would get even with him????

Maybe his team wanted to observe from a distance what portions of the crime scene attracted which jurors to gage their defence IMO

They aren't done with chapter 4 yet are they?

not sure nettie_82

Chapter 4: The Mount Forest death scene, which the jury will visit. "It will be difficult to go the very place where this happened, I know that, but understanding the crime scene is crucial to understanding the crime," Gowdey said. Photographs, some of them graphic, will be used to explain "exactly how the killing happened."

From my understand Chapter 4 was just visiting the scene

I assumed we would hear more in this chapter yet as to any forensic evidence found at the scene...if any. As well, as maybe putting the medical examiner on the stand who performed the autopsy, etc. JMO

Security has been a concern since this trial began

Rafferty will sit in the prisoner’s box during the trial, which is standard practice in many cases. Superior Court Justice Thomas Heeney ruled he could not sit with his lawyer because of security concerns as a result of the nature and history of the case. Heeney also said this arrangement would provide a better line of sight between the accused and the jurors.
