Without providing details of time or the exact location of MR's car on Hwy 59, what was the point of that testimony?

JMO............
I don't recall the exact wording of the testimony, if it was tweeted, but The reporter said Norwich Ave, Highway 59. It's actually County Road 59 now, after downloading. I'm not sure where exactly CR 59 Changes to Norwich Ave, but I'm guessing it's right around the 401 (not at Parkinson Rd, as shown on Google Maps). I imagine the OPP was coming into Woodstock from the south and saw the Civic coming out of town and turning onto Hwy 401 westbound at the light. There's a light on both sides of the bridge.

Let's hope tomorrow brings some of todays testimony full circle

IIRC some people save their cellphone info to their computers. Say if MR had internet with FB, MSN on his BB, LE may have been able to retrieve the information through those sites and his account. Wonder what was found on his computer as LE seized it also. "IT" was in his car the day they arrested him.

I was reading the thread, logged out, at work. When I read this, pre-edit, I burst out laughing. LOL

Also: almost a grand in the glove box and trying to go to the US? Very interesting. IMO, he was arrested just in the nick of time.

So does this simply mean that LE can in fact put him in that location on April 8th? What a hunch by the cop to just run the plate for no reason.

What a shame he wasn't stopped. :(

I think he may be trying to suggest that if there were places around Woodstock why go all the way to Mt. Forest...JMO this Dirk is a slick guy....
Of course there are places around Woodstock, but MR hadn't lived there that long. He just knew how to zip around town. From what we've heard so far, he was much more familiar with the back roads north of Guelph from working there and counting mailboxes with various girlfriends.

Has anyone thought why he would not just have filled his tank prior to the abduction since he knew from the morning what he was going to do or why he didn't have the garbage bags and hammer already in the car since everyone knows that Home Depot has cameras all over the place and so do gas stations, BECAUSE HE KNEW HE WAS GOING TO MAKE IT LOOK like exactly what he is claiming it to be right now. This is not only murder IMO it is premeditated

I like your posts Oldsoul.

imo I've always thought it was premeditated... as in evenutally he would be successful at abducting and raping a child. He just didn't know when it would happen?

That particular day he had the plan of the big drug buy that he hoped would make him some money. Probably planned to get gas on the way out of town. (I'd like to add that I'v seen posts regarding what he took out at the ATM both times and well... who knows how much cash he already had before the 1st ATM visit, so we really don't know the amount of 'what a baggy full of oxy' was. I don't believe the seller to give a truthful count moo)

Then their attempt to lure a child was unfortunately successful. Tori's age was the prompt for the decision of the Home Depot stop. I really think that MR thought once Tori was in the car he was in the clear. MR didn't know the video picked up TLM walking off with Tori so his only concern at the Home Depot was to stay back far enough so no one caught sight of Tori inside the car.

Thank God for the video of TLM walking away with Tori.

I've thought long and hard about why Tori would walk off with TLM and come to the conclusion that Tori had seen TLM walking her mother's dogs; she talked to her and felt safe to walk with her to go see the dogs. She was on foot out in the open. Being put in the car would have been startling and terrifying for her. There is absolutely no way that MR didn't know he was abducting a child. Tori would have been struggling, crying, sobbing and begging to be let go. This defense is insulting to say the least. With the way MR can come up with stories for all these females and keep them straight he does not come off as clueless to strategies or surroundings. moo

I've replied to more then your question and its because I don't get to posting often.

Catching up from where I left off before heading home from work but wanted to use your post to make a point regarding the prosecution (Crown). I don't know if we're missing what is being said in court but what you just posted is exactly what is lacking, imo. They need to explain this to the jury. The questioning needs to be more in depth so this jury gets it.
As an example, get the phone provider on the stand and ask them the question. Is it unusual that someone would want to wipe out their data when transferring from one phone to another? Or something along those lines.

Very frustrating. OK...off to read the other tweets.

BBM

I agree on that point. It's like I'm expecting alot because they promised alot, but crown is leaving us with a great big ol cliffhanger. I hope their closing arguments and their questioning of defense witness is going to be a star performance. Or maybe I just watch too much Law and Order.

just think if LE didn't have TLM's statement that MR was involved in this does anyone think that the evidence that they have provided in court and to the public to date would be enough to not have the judge throw this case out.... JMO

And this location would be further from the Police radar for the missing child and/or her parents searching for Tori.

IMO with all the security at the USA borders I doubt MR would have gotten very far state side...they are much more on the ball than their Cdn. counterparts...JMO

Must have been hard for MTR to live up to the image he was trying to create driving that lemon. MOO

No kidding! He should just have torched the d*mn car and be done with it. Assuming that he didn't owe anything on it, he likely only had liability (no fire, theft, vandelism - now that is funny) which made burning it for profit / replacement out of the question.

It makes no sense to me that he would hang onto a piece of crap that could potentially yield incriminating DNA for the sake of having wheels to scoot around in. After all, most of the ladies had their own cars and drove him all over ... so WHY risk your freedom for the sake of a vehicle worth next to nothing (okay, nothing) ...

If I was guilty of a crime like that, darn right I would torch the car. But then, I am just practical that way.

TLM's neighbours provided info on MR very early in the case, so yes I believe they would have eventually nabbed him even if TLM didn't talk.

GPS add-on doesn't mean your phone can be tracked. It means he requested GPS so he could figure out where he was going just like if you had it on your car. The tracking doesn't come from the GPS, it comes from the carrier and the records they keep. As of now, in canada there is a no way to track a stolen phone with gps.

I wanted to point out that:
iPhone has an app that allows you to track where your phone is as long as the "location" setting is enabled, and providing you allow the app to operate on your phone. There are two that I know of that can do this the first is called findmyiphone and the second is called findmyfriends.

Both will show you on a map the real time location of the phone when you log in (via another computer or smart phone). The findmyiphone app will also allow you to remotely lock and wipe your cell phone from any computer if it is missing and you're worried about someone finding it and seeing its contents.

Does anyone know if the blackberry had the same feature back then? TIA

oh I agree they would have nabbed him but I meant with the lack of evidence produced by LE to date how would they be able to make their charges stick...nothing there so far...JMO.. but then again I could very well be wrong...

Is it possible that the crown is calling all these girls just so the defense can't call them?? I don't know if that is how it works but lets be honest here the majority of them don't have anything damaging on him. The crown is not asking if he was ever abusive with them, what their sex life was like, if he took special interest in their children... JMO

I truly don't think they would have and he could be walking around today lurking around... JMO

I believe they would have nabbed him too even without the plates.... look how they nabbed RW, just from the roadblock looking at his tires, that was a coup!
