just think if LE didn't have TLM's statement that MR was involved in this does anyone think that the evidence that they have provided in court and to the public to date would be enough to not have the judge throw this case out.... JMO

I agree with that statement.

LE had the CASS video - they didn't have a bead on his car until the neighbours provided them with one.

LE would not have had the info regarding the pick up in Guelph, or Timmies or Home Depot ...

LE might have looked at MR as an associate of TLMs, but most certainly they would not have had any of the paltry evidence they have presented so far.

I am amused that the Crown's opening statement promised pie in the sky, and the list of the Chapters seemed to forecast incriminating evidence from the car, the blackberry (so far), the "lost weekend" and the connections to Mount Forest ... IMO I expected that the car would have yielded much more ... IMO the Crown isn't really selling it ... and Derstine is the next batter up. Which is NOT to say that LE didnt do a fantastic job, cause they did .... but the Crown seems a bit complacent???

I wanted to point out that:
iPhone has an app that allows you to track where your phone is as long as the "location" setting is enabled, and providing you allow the app to operate on your phone. There are two that I know of that can do this the first is called findmyiphone and the second is called findmyfriends.

Both will show you on a map the real time location of the phone when you log in (via another computer or smart phone). The findmyiphone app will also allow you to remotely lock and wipe your cell phone from any computer if it is missing and you're worried about someone finding it and seeing its contents.

Does anyone know if the blackberry had the same feature back then? TIA

Well I can't speak for the current Iphone because I have been out of the loop since I went on med leave in Oct 2010, but I don't think the earlier Iphone models had it. In any case, Iphones are different beasts altogether :) And of course everyone is developing all kinds of cool apps now, so I would imagine that eventually someone would come out with something like that. I just can't imagine losing an Iphone I just purchased for full price, I mean that would be my life savings!!! (just kidding)

ps, the best way to keep your phone safe make sure you carrier has the imei number at all times in their records for your account. Unless they have cracked or jailbroken the phone, if they try to activate it, the records will show someone else is using that imei number, specially if there was a lost and stolen block on the phone.

I agree on that point. It's like I'm expecting alot because they promised alot, but crown is leaving us with a great big ol cliffhanger. I hope their closing arguments and their questioning of defense witness is going to be a star performance. Or maybe I just watch too much Law and Order.

In my case, it's probably because I've been spoiled with the televised US trials. It's just not the same with these tweets. I'm sure there is so much that is not being tweeted. I noticed the tweets from the different reporters. Some get more detailed than others. Some post 3 or 4 for the entire day! WTH? What's the point of attending the trial?

*sigh*

Thank goodness she did! JMO

oh my god!

I'm sorry if this has been answered already:
Just wondering if anyone happens to know what time the officer ran the plate? I see that the officer didn't remember why he ran the plate, which is also annoying, but what time did this happen at? Is it possible that he ran the plate while Tori was in the car? If so, what a shame he didn't pull him over!

So did he or did he not go to the US on May 18?

No. IIRC, JW's trip to Vegas was scheduled for the 20th. He got arrested on the 19th.

They did go 3 days prior to that and he was looking for his Puma shoes. Didn't find the ones he was looking for.

IMO

respectfully...I am not seeing at this stage how LE did a fantastic job..

It was TM herself that put LE on to TLM
It was TLM (after being told the jig was up that put LE on to MR
It was TLM that told LE about the drug stop, HD & Timmies
It was TLM who half assed told LE where to look for body (but held the actual location back)
It was a sudden revelation to Smyth to search the area that TS was found in
It was a stranger that found the shoes even though LE trolled the highways
It was a G/F that mentioned the BB

Lord I could go on and on but you get the idea eh...the rest of the footwork they did as would be expected...follow up on info received from others..

Any thoughts on why he would buy her clothes for her Vegas trip?

I think the Crown has to establish that they were thorough with the investigation. IMO MR had plenty of time to cover his tracks and he did just that. JMO

I don't recall the exact wording of the testimony, if it was tweeted, but The reporter said Norwich Ave, Highway 59. It's actually County Road 59 now, after downloading. I'm not sure where exactly CR 59 Changes to Norwich Ave, but I'm guessing it's right around the 401 (not at Parkinson Rd, as shown on Google Maps). I imagine the OPP was coming into Woodstock from the south and saw the Civic coming out of town and turning onto Hwy 401 westbound at the light. There's a light on both sides of the bridge.

I think you are right........around the area of the interchange or north of it heading towards Parkinson Road.

If so, why didn't the Crown ask? or what time?

If LE spotted MR's car..........south of the 401 interchange.......TLM has some explaining to do.

If it was spotted anywhere else on Norwich.........so what.........MR lives in that area.

I don't get this testimony yet.

JMO.........

Any thoughts on why he would buy her clothes for her Vegas trip?

Is that what the LaSenza bag was? There looks like a Jacob bag in the car too. Presents for her? JMO

Why the heck didn't crown ask(can they question their own witness)? Or is it because it's not in the disclosure? I guess I know why defense didn't ask.

In fairness, I'm getting the same feeling with the defense's cross of some of the witnesses. Questions that leave me scratching my head wondering what the relevance is (one was a question asked today regarding farmland in Woodstock).

I have to believe that there is so much more that we're missing and we're just not seeing and feeling the full impact of this trial, imo.

How witnesses are questioned. Body language. Tone of voice. How evidence is being presented. etc etc etc

Tweets are better than nothing but it's just not the same as watching the entire trial live, imo

I agree, we hear some evidence, but yet we don't seem to get it all!!!!

oh I agree they would have nabbed him but I meant with the lack of evidence produced by LE to date how would they be able to make their charges stick...nothing there so far...JMO.. but then again I could very well be wrong...

Weren't the police suspicious after their initial visit with him? Suspicious enough that they went back to have a look at the car and couldn't find it? And this was before TLM's confession. I believe with some leg work and no info from TLM that the police would have looked further into him. JMO

I do agree, though, that the Crown's case seems weak on delivering what many of us expected to hear regarding direct evidence.

Ohhh, maybe a romantic vacation, LaSenza sells fine ladies' underthingies right?

Yup...if a guy is going to buy his girl something from LaSenza, he would want to be apart of seeing her in it...not send her off without you to Vegas!!!! JMO
