Any city town in the gulf when there is a hurricane in the gulf and especially if you live in a BOWL area, and the cone of uncertainly is close to you. I would suggest to not wait for a local official to tell you when to leave. Your life or quality of life is not worth jeopardizing your safety.

If I lived in NOLA, even a tropical depression I would leave....Florida, I would probably stay even with a cat 1 or 2.

Lost power here.....raining cats and dogs for days now!

There are a lot of people living in the area without means. It's not an option for them to leave when the cone of uncertainty is close to them.

Ok I'm starting to identify the eye. It must be strengthening.

Oh no! Can you give a sister a lil linky?

I'm sure you have already so I apologize but I would like to watch as well all
I have at the moment is Weather Channel...

HOPEFULLY THEY WILL CONTINUE TO COVER AND NOT AIR
"STORM STORIES"!!!

It never fails when we have the worst weather in Atlanta,
they never have live coverage...

I do not need to hear about a storm 8 years ago when
the hail is about to bust my skylights and my trees
are doin the "hula dance"

There are options to them. Even if they do not have the means. City programs, friends, families, etc. There is no such thing as not having the means when a hurricane or natural disaster happens. There are plenty of programs that open up to them when a state of emergency is called.

Cnn just showed where Hurricane Katrina was in 2005 and where Issac is now. Issac is exactly where Katrina was. And is taking the same path!

  • #169
There is a chance that Issac will move even further west, which wouldn't put NOLA out of danger because of the storm surge.

New information coming out next on CNN

Remember, for Katrina ......New Orleans was on the "good" side

Upper left quad

But the surge from Lake Ponch. breached the levees......

Now the question is............how fortified are those levees?

The guy on CNN just said said they are predicting a category 2 at present, with the rule of thumb ..........differing by one each way.

So could move down to category one or up to category 3 with current prediction.

I don't think it will because of a few factor's. 1-The deep sea temp isn't has hot as one would expect to generate such strength

2-Issac is moving too fast

3-There is some dry air which is keeping Issac from gaining strength of a cat 2 or 3.

I hope not.

I just hate when it gets out into the Gulf and does that sudden slow down....

National Hurricane Center forecasters declared a hurricane warning for New Orleans and southeastern Louisiana, and now predict that Tropical Storm Isaac will make landfall just east of the New Orleans area, at the Louisiana-Mississippi border, as a strong Category 2 hurricane with top winds of 100 mph Wednesday morning
http://www.nola.com/hurricane/index.ssf/2012/08/new_orleans_area_now_in_danger.html

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal said this afternoon that at this time there are no plans to activate the state's contraflow plan, which reverses the direction of major interstate highways out of metro New Orleans during major evacuations.

As of mid-afternoon, however, officials said they don't plan to call for evacuations of areas inside the levees or the north shore -- steps that would usually require activating the contraflow.

This kind of conflicting information is dangerous. It causes confusion, and makes it difficult for citizens who have jobs to pick up and go. Business owners are reluctant to shut down until forced to do so, and likewise they don't excuse employees who wish to leave early.
