Per the post that Lera put up showing the cone path, I am in southEAST Florida and we are having very strong wind gusts and heavy rain non-stop since 1pm which is almost 5-6 hours of this. Bear in mind, I am NOT in the area of the cone which speaks volumes for the size of this storm. I drained my pool down 4" at noon and it is now almost overspilling.

Myself, if you are in the area of where the cone takes on land (once it passes over the Gulf of Mexico) I would find a way to evacuate now. Easy to navigate sooner than later when the infrastructures become congested. Before you leave, remove any patio furniture, weak branches, lawn tools/ornaments, garbage barrels, etc.

What a lot of people do not realize is that storm is usually waaaaaaay bigger than the cone,or that little hurricane symbol they use. You really need to look at a satelite image to get an idea of how far those winds DO reach.

Now the winds just blew out all of my new screens that had been installed in my screened-in porch....ugh! I am surprised we still have power.

Ok, now Plaquemines Parish mandatory evacuation ordered. (Lower southeast Louisiana tip below New Orleans region)

Here we go.

Grand isle is always the first to get evacuated. We use to spend the summers there. It was so annoying when we would have to leave all the time and go to baton rouge.

The center of the storm is heading straight for NOLA. Heed this warning get out now! Take cover, do what you gotta do, but get out of N.O!

Yeah......I'd leave New Orleans now just in case.

Do it before gridlock.

And I know many can't until a mandatory is called because of jobs!

It goes without saying that now is the time to check to see if any elderly or handicapped person you know needs help evacuating. Also if you are in a safe place you can offer to help care for someones pet that is having to evacuate. It feels good to help each other out and makes that person know someone cares.
I don't want to get in a debate about whether it is possible for everyone to evacuate.

Storm has slowed down. NOT a good sign! This is where it will strengthen, and continue to grow in size!

Mobile County no school til Wed and Mandatory evacuations in Dauphin Island, Bayou La Batre, Grand Bay, and downtown Mobile. I am very nervous. My oldest daughter lives in North Mobile County, my next daughter is in Jean Lafitte near NOLA with her boyfriend and I am in South MS with my younger girls. I am begging my second oldest to evacuate Jean Lafitte

Be very safety concious. You may have a tornado going over.
