If you watch the video of her at the airport going through security, you can see that her hair is still long - or was at least up until that point.

Here's a screenshot from the video:

I agree. In every picture and the video I have seen so far, her hair was very long.

I'm beginning to think the two women's death might be related but not in that way. For sarai to happen upon a murder, would mean she would of had to wander to that place alone, and that I just really don't believe. It would also mean that just per chance another crime was taking place at that spot in broad daylight. I'm not sure that adds up for me.

I'm more curious if this other woman, the one with the red shirt pulled from the water, is the same woman who was mistaken as sarai on video on the 21st. And IF she is the woman, on the 21st, and its not sarai, then when did sarai actually go missing?

And if that footage on the 21st isn't Sarai, but the woman pulled from the water then is that just a coincidence tan someone who looked liked sarai and was even mistaken for sarai, also ended up dead? Or was she hired to look like sarai, and then disposed of after.

Very strange. It's just that not even Krysp thinks the woman on the 21st is sarai. So could she actually be the one found in the water? They were both wearing red shirts.

Wow! This also makes sense to me.

Firstly, there is no date in any place of that page. I'm not sure if it is a recent article or an old one.

Here's the translation:

Police is looking for Taylan!

A big breakthrough came to Istanbul Police's attention about the case of Sarai Sierra, US citizen, who went missing in the city. According to the FBI, day before her disappearence, Sarai Sierra was talking with an individual named Taylan. Police is now looking for him.

Sarai Sierra is currently searched extensively by Istanbul Police. According to the FBI, Sarai was exchanging communication on 21st of January, the day before she went missing with an individual named Taylan. FBI passed on the information that Sarai was supposed to meet with Taylan in Galata Tower for taking photographs.

One of the messages Sarai sent Taylan is reported to be "I'm going accross the Galata Tower, would you like to join me?". Afterwards, Sarai sent a message again and told Taylan "I'm leaving now, if you want to reach me, give me a call." In response, at 12.45, Taylan replied "I'll be joining you there, I hope you have wireless access".

Police is now checking through the surveillence camera footage of the area. Sarai Sierra is reported to have corresponded with Taylan before, at the time that she in the United States.

This seems to be a news article before SS was found as it refers to SS as 'missing' instead of 'murdered'.

Alp, Thanks so much for translating this.
It's an old article. I saved as it had actual times.

In your translation you mention the 12:45, but not the 11:33 and that's what I'm trying to figure out. What is the 11:33 time referring to?
Thanks.

"Sarai Sierra, ‘Taylan’ adlı bu kişiye, “Ben birazdan Galata Kulesi’nin karşısına gelicem, gelir misin?” mesajı geçti. Saat 11.33’te tekrar mesaj geçen Sierra, bu kez, “Ben çıkıyorum ulaşmak istersen beni telefondan ara” dedi. Saat 12.45’te, bu kez ‘Taylan’ adlı kullanıcı,"

Hi! I just wanted to say that you do not need to be afraid when out and about alone. You should be prepared and aware, but don't be afraid. For one thing, if you are afraid you probably look afraid and that makes you an easy target. Next, take a good reputable self-defense class. Also, carry a weapon of some sort. I am a woman and get unwanted attention when out and about. I have taken self defense classes and I am armed (with a gun, I have a CCW) and trained to use it. I feel confident when alone and know how to protect myself in various situations. And I live in a super safe area and my town has very low crime. BUT that means nothing. Never know what criminal is going to try and take an opportunity!

All women should take the necessarily steps to ensure their safety at all times for we cannot rely on anyone other than ourselves! We are our first line of defense. I probably take it much further than some, but I (as many) have seen the horrible consequences of what can happen......

Welcome and thanks for sharing your personal story/connection to this tragic situation!

Thank you, for this friendly advice. I guess I shouldn't have used the word afraid. I found myself more nervous than anything. SS story really opened my eyes. I guess its because I knew her and something like this happened to someone I knew. I definitely will find myself being more aware of my surroundings though. And I guess it wouldn't be too much to take a self defend class. Never thought of that. I might enjoy that

I believe it was close to the time when Sarai went missing. Perhaps January 22 or so.

It was also close to the place where Saria was found.

Thank you!
Sarai wasn't reported missing to the Istanbul police until Jan 25.

I agree. In every picture and the video I have seen so far, her hair was very long.

BUT... not once was she seen wondering around without a hat. In the next few seconds after the screenshot I posted, she put a knit cap on.

Honestly? It doesn't look like her in this latest photo/video that was released. Maybe it is - I guess LE has reviewed it with family. But she was a skinny-jeans person. I haven't seen her in anything but skinny jeans. The woman in that picture looks a bit more frumpy than Sarai's style, IMO. And not once did she have her hair down. I think she knew better b/c she was trying to stay under the radar (IMO) and not catch men's eyes/attention.

Hi Krys! Just back from dinner and am reading up. I guess you figured out the question, as you responded to it. Nice to see you here.

It's always been a question mark in my head since day one about day/time of death, and other posters are also confused. The information shifts around alot as I'm sure you realize.

I'm sure you remember the fake texting murder case of Staten Island's Jessica T. by Tom P. from 3 years ago, where the texts supposedly came from her, but of course she was dead by then.

Same here. Got my permit to carry a concealed weapon and a .38 Special when a college friend was found raped/strangled in her apartment where she was living alone. I was living alone at the time also not too far away. I also believe the revolver saved my life one night. Firm believer.

I love it.....great workout, super fun and I feel safe!

Hi Prima, are you in the US. If so, could you please tell me where these classes are offered? Thank you!

This is getting more and more interesting.

Thank you Miziree. Do you remember where you read or heard about it?

It was mentioned before she was found..in the second thread possibly. I tried looking up more info and asked if anyone heard anything more about her but haven't seen or got any reply how she passed.

Could somebody please be so kind as to translate this please?
Now i'm really boggled for sure.

I'm sure everyone noticed that the police guy with the smart phone pulled up photos of SS. Why, if they thought she'd be murdered on ground and dragged to a cave? They had her body. Why all the checking of the cell phone photos of her? I can imagine they might be looking at a serial killer, but that's about all. Maybe someone who preys on women who bear a physical resemblance to SS.

Thank you, Miziree. I am having trouble keeping up with all the information and, may I say, misinformation. I remember what I have read or heard, but not always where and when. My apologies. :(

This is exactly what many of us here on WS think happened with Phylicia Barnes. The perp kept texting Phylicia's sisters to throw them off and give him time to dispose of her, in our opinion. It was important b/c a witness claimed to have seen him carrying a plastic bin (determined later to supposedly have had her body in it... :() before the texts stopped. The defense tried to use that in court to say that it couldn't have been her. But he was found guilty anyway - just a week or two ago.

I'm not sure i follow? Or am aware of what you are referencing. Could you elaborate?
