There were some news reports that David and Steven stayed with"friends of friends" in Istanbul. So family did know someone even if indirectly
That's what I said earlier. David Jimenez appears to have some Turkish contacts in Istanbul who got him and Steven Sierra free accommodations there. That seems weird to me for a random guy from Staten Island whose sister ended up going there "on vacation."
Just to make a comment: women would scream or say something or report a couple having sex in the women's room; men would apologize for interrupting. Okay, I had to say it...![]()

I'm guessing that when sarai went missing, some acquaintence of his said I have friends/family in Istanbul and they would be happy to help out.
Turkish people are very hospitable that way.
I don't think this is really that weird. Haven't you ever heard 6 degrees of separation.
Thanks for all the posts - I am trying to keep up with all your posts which is a challenge when one has to go to work.
After reading most of your posts - I will share my opinion.
I am a female American living/working in the Middle East for the last 33 years. I have visited Istanbul a couple times and traveled throughout various countries in this area.
Considering my personal experiences while traveling and the places I have visited I do not think Sarai's death was drug related. In my opinion - here is what happened - IMO:
There are several points combined that resulted in her tragedy.
Sarai married very young (age 19), she appeared to have lived a sheltered life, she was on the outs with her husband, and then started meeting guys through the photo online site. Plus she had never traveled - her trip to Istanbul was the spreading of her wings.
Without any travel experience, she was entirely too trusting which resulted in carelessness which resulted in her vulnerability: she was an easy target walking around Istanbul alone. Plus staying in that apartment alone for 17 $ per nite in not the best part of town - another bad idea.
Meeting and talking with men on the streets of Istanbul - meeting and staying with guys she met online - not a good idea.
One of these points may not have resulted in the tragedy, but when these behaviors and facts are combined they can easily result in a tragedy.
Sarai was a target the minute she arrived in Istanbul, and it is heartbreaking that she lost her life.
Drugs ? No. Naivety and carelessness, yes.
But why was she beaten and not raped?
That is the mystery for me.

I agree, and since they were religious they may have had a wide circle of friends/associates through the church whose friends then heard about Sarai on the news and offered to help out.
I do not agree. Their noses and ethnicity in the photos are entirely different.
Okay, I can now confidently say Tarkan and Taylan are different. Tarkan is Tarkan A. (@tarkan1971) and Taylan is Taylan K. (@taylloo)
Since the article mentions Tarkan A. as to be working in Finance, we can safely assume he did not kill her. He is white collar, his work schedule is tight and during his schedule (working in Finance) he has the perfect alibi. He either works in a Bank branch or HQ and every movement of his during work time is surveilled and recorded. Simply put, Tarkan A. cannot be the perp.
But all the photos that have been online - smiling or serious, handsome and young or older and rough - are Taylan? The "sex-in-the-bathroom when I thought LE had my DNA" guy whose lawyer then said "no-sex-in-bathroom when DNA didn't match."
THIS is what worries me about posting pictures when speculating. When I click on that 2nd or 3rd picture on Google, it circumvents back to an old post on here. This is how rumors get started and innocent people get dragged into things. And lawsuits get started. Just sayin'....
OK, Think Hard, but a working-class guy from Staten Island who has connections in Turkey? Even through his church, that seems pretty unlikely to me.
Correct, all the photos online belong to @taylloo, real name Taylan K. He is the one who claimed to have sex in the bathroom with SS.
The article makes it very clear.
