Yep.
The poor kid actually got two whoopings during this visit to his Daddy Peterson:
"Peterson also admitted that he administered two different “whoopings” to his son during the visit to Texas, the other being a punishment for the 4-year-old scratching the face of a 5-year-old."

It's pretty clear from Peterson's own words that the children are expected to shut up and take it:
A text from Peterson to the woman reportedly said, "Be still n take ya whooping he would have saved the scare (scar). He aight (all right)."

Of course, this child was apparently strapped into his carseat while he was getting whooped. Not much choice but to take it.
Mother: "What happened to his head?"
Peterson: "Hit his head on the Carseat." [sic]
Mother: "How does that happen, he got a whoopin' in the car."
Peterson: "Yep."
Mother: "Why?"
Peterson: "I felt so bad. But he did it his self."

Checking google news for the most recent news stories, I am greatly encouraged that opinion seems to be running against the Vikings for reinstating him.
