IMO time to call in Texas EquuSearch. Those woods are too thick for comfort.

I hope they are checking the ponds. She could have stumbled into the water in the dark.

The child’s mother reported Athena Strand missing to the Wise County Sheriff’s Office at 6:40 p.m., after the family had been looking for her for about an hour, according to the Wise County Messenger. Athena’s mother told the sheriff’s office that she went to her daughter’s room about 5:30 p.m. and she wasn’t there, the Messenger reported.

Independent sighting would be anyone other than parents or family. Like school or church, etc.

From the link below:
The little girl hasn't been found as of about 1 p.m. Thursday. The sheriff tells WFAA that she possibly left after an argument with her parents.

So not seen since 7 pm Wednesday, at 7pm here in Texas it is dark.
adding : A norther blow in and it was very cold last night in her area 30 and below.

7 year olds don’t “run away” this long and if there is a “history” of a child that young running away that raises red flags for me.
to me its conceivable if for example BM lost custody for some reason and she was CO to live w dad and step mom full time rather than visitation sometime recently. but other wise same.

Don't they always say they can't send out amber alerts without a vehicle description or did I imagine that?
I think what may contribute to the confusion about Amber alerts, is that each state has their own criteria for issuing one. While most (allegedly) adhere to the same set of qualifiers, not all do. More on that here Frequently Asked Questions

It's hunting season right now isn't it? At least it is where I live. Has anyone thought to take a look at deer cams in the area?
Yes it is hunting season, great idea!

A bit more info from Univision Dallas/Fort Worth (make sure you translate in Google):
The Wise County Sheriff's Office said this is not the first time the minor has left the house like this and they believe she had an argument with her parents.
The parents left the house after the discussion
, when the mother returned, she checked the minor's room and did not find her, while the father was outside.
Authorities have said that the family, especially the parents, have cooperated with the investigation.

I guess at this point whether she did or did not run away really matters not to me. My concern is where is she now and is she safe and warm?

Finally received an amber alert. I am about an hour away, many people are volunteering and assisting with drones. Paradise is a small town, I don't understand how she got away unless someone took her.
they did and amber alert w no vehicle info?

I wonder how long it has been since anyone besides her parents have seen her. Was she seen by a neighbor?

View attachment 384155Just got this on my phone.
Edited to add that I’m about 4 hours out from Paradise but the whole state of Texas probably gets it.
i thought they had to have reason to believe they were abducted and vehicle info? its good they put an alert out tho.

Am thinking the Texas AA may have been issued due to concern about weather conditions .. "The law enforcement agency believes the child is in danger of serious bodily harm or death."

If the child left the home of her own volition on foot, they need to bring dogs in.

I have a concern about the ponds in the area. Not sure the temps would be cold enough for them to be solidly frozen over at this time of year.

Wow at 7 ! That is very unusual to run away twice plus be arguing with your parents.

Lots of info in this article. I am limited to put in the post due to copyright. Worth a read.

WISE COUNTY, Texas.- In an exhaustive search with volunteers, drones and mounted police, authorities seek to find the whereabouts of 7-year-old Athena Strand , reported missing in Paradise, Texas.
The mother of the minor Maitlyn Presley Gandy published on her Facebook account, on Wednesday night, that they were looking for her daughter Athena Presley Monroe Strand.

She had last been seen leaving her dad's house , according to reports by Presley Gandy.

“We are interviewing, which is normal when there is suspicious activity,” Akin said.

If her parents weren't home then who saw her leaving her house?
