TX - Austin Metcalf - 17 - fatally stabbed at track meet, 2 April 2025

I watched footage of the race crime that split America
Behind a paywall as the DM thinks its' articles are that valuable... hahaha.

But the gist of it was that the reporters could see no visible altercation beforehand at all.
Makes me wonder if Austin just mentioned that KA was under the wrong tent and KA decided he felt disrespected ?
Speculation only.
The witness' testimony will be vital here.
Hoping KA will get first degree murder charges. I believe they're warranted.
Omo.

Does anyone know if anyone else was in the tent at the time other than the two boys?

The article mentions some other kids scattering out from under the tent, so yes, I believe so !

I read it was a high level view type photo & it was hard to distinguish things.

Yes was highly pixelated video. But that is good news that there were witnesses close up who will be able to tell what they saw and heard.

I do hope those witnesses will stay safe until the trial, and I don't say that lightly.

So over twenty other kids from different high schools witnessed Austin’s stabbing? What attracted their attention from other tents?
Objectively......

The 'tents' usually have open sides and are also relatively close to each other. So, its easy to see what is going on under them.

Subjectively......

Though our school plays Frisco schools in some sports, we usually play other largely low income schools with similar challenges as our own.

There is an expectation that one stays away from other school's tent areas and their associated possessions. Warm fuzzy possibilities of meeting and greeting aside, sitting in another school's area and being around their possessions has a big potential to lead to avoidable problems.

In short, I think the other students noticed the violation of the expectation, knew that there was a potential for problems and already had half an eye out for something to happen.

I thought the tents were on the ground. This is the 1st time I've seen tents on bleachers. When we attend cross-country meets, the team tents are set up on the ground where teammates and their families usually sit nearby in bag chairs.
Just going to say the same thing. I envisioned them being on the grass in the center of the field.

These same images have been connected to the story since it was first reported.

I think the Daily Mail published an up-close photo right after the incident & the tents (we always called them canopies) were in the seat part of the stadium. The photo may be in this thread.

Thanks! I'm sure I saw the pictures but I didn't pay attention.

Thank you - this is excellent news IMO.

"Today’s indictment of Karmelo Anthony is an expected and routine step in the legal process," Defense Attorney Mike Howard said. "An indictment simply means that a grand jury, after hearing only the prosecution's side of the story, determined that there was enough evidence to allow the case to move forward to court. That's all an indictment means. Karmelo and his family are confident in the justice system and the people of Collin County to be fair and impartial. Of course, Karmelo looks forward to his day in court."

A murder charge is punishable by 5-99 years or life in prison.
Karmelo Anthony indicted in Frisco track meet stabbing death of Austin Metcalf, officials say

“We know this case has struck a deep nerve — here in Collin County and beyond. That’s understandable. When something like this happens at a school event, it shakes people to the core,” District Attorney Greg Willis said in a news release. “But the justice system works best when it moves with steadiness and with principle. That’s what we’re committed to. And that’s exactly what this case deserves.”

“Karmelo will have his day in court — not in the court of public opinion,” officials with an advocacy group representing Anthony’s family said on X. “He will finally have the opportunity to present his self-defense claim in a real courtroom.”

so sayeth the minister of justice or whatever he styles himself. Good thing Anthony will be heading to "real" court to present his self defense case

it went over like a big lead balloon in the court of public opinion. JMO it will go over in similar fashion in a "real" court room.

Rbm.
Everybody deserves a fair trial.

With that being said..... 'Karmelo looks forward....'
As if he's innocent & is going to make his case to the jury.
Just ugh. 🤬

He's found out quite hand$omely, how there's good money to be made in victimhood these days.
He's literally being "marketed" as the victim in this case, when he's the one who killed someone.
It's so revolting I can't even come up with the right word to say how infuriating it is.
I only hope everyone on the jury feels the same way.
