I think this GJ who saw the evidence and videos, and returned a true bill for 1st-degree murder, is telling the public this is not a case of self-defense, period.

Let Karmelo string out his "victimhood". I have no doubt this will be a very long journey. With hearings, on and on...and his attorneys have plenty of cash to waste time. I will predict a trial around 3 or 4 years from now.

I am hoping that "Don't Mess With Texas" sentiment will apply in this case and that it doesn't get dragged out in the WONG direction after this GJ correct decision. I feel that during trial we will discover that this was a total hate crime, of the opposite kind ~ than is being sold to the public by the murder's camp. JMO

But … we haven’t heard “the full story”. I have seen this same exact statement from at least five different people associated with Karmelo Anthony.

Really looking forward to hearing these details which his defense and others think will clear him of a murder charge. Can’t help but wonder though, why they didn’t share these details with investigators when he was arrested, making a trial unnecessary to begin with?

IMO, The family is not helping themselves, especially their son, by continuing to be associated with this ‘advocacy’ group. The group seems like a bunch of grifters, just using AM’s death to further their own agenda. Truth doesn’t matter to them, only the money and recognition. I believe KA murdered AM, and I pray for justice in this case.

IMHO, there will be very little evidence that a jury would actually accept in regard to someone bringing a knife to a track event and stabbing someone because they got yelled at or pushed.

The premeditation of bringing a lethal sized knife to a track event held on school grounds is almost enough already to convict him. The other kid did not have a lethal weapon. No self-defense will work unless he was getting choked or continuously battered which he wasn't.. .not a single scratch on his face in his mug shot.

According to an arrest affidavit, the confrontation began when Anthony sat under a team tent belonging to Metcalf’s school. When Metcalf asked him to move, Anthony reportedly responded, “Touch me and see what happens.” Metcalf then touched Anthony, prompting a second warning. Moments later, the two became physical, and Anthony allegedly stabbed Metcalf with a knife.

Anthony later told police he acted in self-defense, saying Metcalf had “put his hands on me,” according to the report.

“We expect that when the full story is heard, the prosecution will not be able to rule out the reasonable doubt that Karmelo Anthony may have acted in self-defense,” Howard said.

"We know this case has struck a deep nerve — here in Collin County and beyond. That’s understandable," Willis said. "When something like this happens at a school event, it shakes people to the core."

When a school resource officer arrived at the scene, Anthony reportedly said: "I was protecting myself."

Anthony also said Metcalf put his hands on him and admitted to stabbing the teen out of self-defense, according to his arrest affidavit.

"With the first-degree murder indictment, it now goes into the court system. I fully believe that justice will be served for Austin Metcalf. I look forward to the forthcoming trial. But it will never bring my son back," Jeff Metcalf said.

Yes, well.... you can't murder someone for putting their hands on you, in this particular situation.
Maybe no one should be touching anyone else in a confrontational manner, given that there are people ready to escalate towards violence these days.
But this was (imo !) different than someone grabbing you, showing their weapon, and saying hand over your wallet.
I don't know if Austin said he was going to murder KA however it's doubtful.

It sounds from what we know so far that KA came that day prepared for deadly violence and was itching for the slightest excuse to use that knife.

Witness testimony as to what that 'physical' confrontation and what was said-- will be crucial.

A shoving , grabbing or punching match still will not get Karmelo off the hook !
Boys and young men have been scuffling for ages.
I don't believe anything Austin did justified murder.
