Found Deceased TX - Chrissy Powell, 39, San Antonio, Paralegal, didn’t arrive @work, BOLO, 5 July 2022

Custody could mean "legal custody" or just the colloquial use of the term. If they were never married, then there was no divorce and so its possible no legal custody order exists. They could have certainly established a legal custody but it wouldn't be unusual if they didn't. Especially if father isn't looking for child support.
Thanks.
As English is a foreign language for me Im sometimes lost :)

Your understanding of English is fine. I would never have guessed that it is not your first language. Glad you are here with us, and I have spoken English for 60+ years, and I still get lost sometimes too!

Do you know if a silver alert was issued, since she was lacking her necessary medication? TIA
I did not see a Silver Alert

A BOLO was issued, but it's more of an internal thing and a press release. I have no idea if shopping center security looked at the BOLO.

BBM

IMO My ex-husband and I mutually agreed, without courts involved, that our son should be with my ex rather than me. The reason is that I have major depressive disorder and have been hospitalized 3 times for suicide ideation, and I don't have a support system.

In no way is there any animosity between me and my ex. My ex has a better support system than I do, and our son flourishes with him. I get to visit and have my son visit me as often as desired.

I did what was best for my son and not my own heart. Does it affect me? Every hour, every minute, my heart aches. The pain of this situation can be downright intolerable for me. The anniversary of my ex and son leaving will forever be seared in my heart. It is nearly impossible for me to get out of bed on that date.

Thus, I can understand 110% CP's frame of mind if this were the case for her too. Something like this can absolutely devastate a person.

Undoubtedly, it's a tragic situation for CP's whole family, and I hope they get they answers they deserve. And may CP rest in peace, whatever the cause of her death might have been.

MOO
Hugs! You put your child’s well-being first. It sounds like your son’s doing great and thriving.

In NY a Silver Alert is for elderly missing persons. Hence silver for the gray hair.

I believe each state may set other parameters, such as mentally or cognitively impaired, even if below the age of 65. However, Texas does not appear to be one of those states. (See link above). Therefore it doesn't seem that any Silver Alert would have been issued for Chrissy, even if she were lacking her medication.

I’m really shocked no one discovered her for three weeks. A decomposing body in a 150-200F car for THREE WEEKS, in the middle of a busy shopping center?! It must have been horrific, how did no one smell anything? Or how many people smelled something terrible while parking and shopping there but are only realizing now what it was? Is it possible her new car was so well sealed and insulated?

If I was one of those mall security parking lot guards, in that area, I would have certainly been on the lookout for Chrissy’s car-even during the day when the lot was full. But we don’t know what, if any, updates were provided to the security workers. If it was a person who didn’t follow local news, they might not even know there was a car to look for. I don‘t know what to think as to COD-if she went there to use, I imagine there would be something on scene that would indicate it. Same with suicide.

I didn't know anyone was missing. I guess I would have found out if I checked the miss forum on Websleuths, but I didn't know anything and I live in San Antonio. Her being missing wasn't really in the local news. There were a few local articles and that's it. Even though there was extensive coverage in the DM and by Nancy Grace, it wasn't on the news here. (Except for a few blurbs here and there)

When Andreen McDonald went missing in 2019, it was front page news, but this case was not.

We have alot of missing persons cases that don't make it to the media.

That never occurred to me. Wow, good thinking.

I was thinking that she went through either the cash machine or the coffee drive-through and dropped her credit card down between the seat and the console when she went to put it away. In our Subaru, you can only reach that spot from the opposite seat--so the driver can reach beside the passenger seat, but if it's beside the driver's seat you have to go around to the passenger side, or crawl over. (I am too old, out of shape, and overweight for the crawling over thing.)
Hmmm. I drive a Nissan Rogue. The space between the center console and seat is tight for a hand to reach between. I wonder if she got her hand caught and with her position and the heat, she passed out. Possibly a case of positional asphyxiation? Although, that would seem somewhat obvious and sensible for an ME to conclude?

I've never passed out either or known anyone who did, not from a panic attack. I've seen someone appear to be having a heart attack. And while he struggled to catch his breath, he never passed out. For those who are familiar with passing out during a panic attack, can you inform us, please? TIA
I have passed out from panic attacks. For me, it comes on fast. It has never happened while driving because I am seated. If it did, I would need to pull over immediately at first signs of lightheadedness and ear ringing. I most likely wouldn't make it to an exit and I surely wouldn't make it into a parking lot and into a parking space. I wouldn't be able to get out of the car, walk around the car and climb into the passenger seat. If I opened the driver's side door I would fall out onto the ground.

Just last night I passed out from a panic attack (terrible situation with an injured cat). I couldn't inhale/breathe/swallow and I went limp. Paramedics came but I didn't go to the hospital, because I knew it was just a panic attack since I have had them before. I also passed out from one 3 years ago. So yes, if you have extreme anxiety, you can get to a point of losing consciousness (I think that would be the case even if it wasn't chronic anxiety, but situational). If she couldn't breathe, she may have passed out in the parking lot, then heat overcame her. Moo.

It would normally be fairly obvious, but I'm not sure what the situation would be after three weeks in the heat. (I am trying to avoid being gross.)

I agree, we have no reason to believe the youngest boy's father has been manipulative and/or controlling. There has been no MSM reporting on why he has custody of the child.
Is there any actual evidence that the older boy's father is no longer in the picture either? TIA

I haven't read anything in MSM about the older boy's father, but maybe I missed it.

As far as I know it was just a statement made by CP's mother.

I haven't heard anything.

It is not unusual for there to be a custody differences with a younger child.
My son's daughter had a child when she was in HS. They welcomed the baby into their home and basically raised her.

Six years later, my sister in law had health problems and they didn't have the energy to help out. My niece got a divorce and her ex just "kept" their new baby. His family had money. She had moved to Wisconsin with him, but then when they got divorced she moved back to Texas and the baby just stayed with him.

A sad, tragic "accident" for a sad, tragic soul. May her family find what peace they can.

Found July 23, 2022
48 days to
Cause of death released Sept 7, 2022

Hyperthermia complicated by alcohol intoxication
She might have been extremely hungover/still intoxicated and gave up on driving to work. We probably won't be told if an alcoholic beverage container was found in the car.
I hope it gives her family and boys some peace, it seems to be an accidental death.
