@morf13 owns such a truck and may have some insights into your questions.

I am thinking that Pro-4X stickers and an endless variety of other car stickers come in three flavors:

A. Factory option on certain models.
B. Dealer add on (dealers keep a supply of high quality 'official' stickers and other add ons on display to sell to enthusiasts)
C. "Aftermarket" stickers via the internet of various quality.

I dont know if the Pro-4X sticker was of the same size, design and placement as the official ones from a dealership or factory. If the sticker is official, the cost might partially negate somebody buying it for one night only. "Official" add ons tend to be pricey.

Also.... the Pro-4X is a higher end version of the lower level Nissan Frontier. Some manufacturers give higher end models slightly different body styles, "ground effects", hood designs etc. A truck enthusiast might be able to tell the difference between the Frontier body trim and the Pro-4X body trim.

The look of the stickers leads me to believe that this is a factory Pro4x. Here's what my stock, unmodified truck looks like keep in mind it's a 2022 and mine is the bigger Titan, not a Frontier.

Or they adlibbed to get out of there
The maddening thing here is that police in Idaho had the same evidence when they identified BK as a person of interest (before they had the familial DNA analysis all they had was a make and model of a white car).

Good point, and "white car" is a lot less specific

One thing I did not see mentioned in this case, and maybe I missed it, does anyone know about what was done regarding cell phone pings & tracking in the area that morning? Because a person with that truck, who also pinged in that area, would certainly have some explaining to do. Then again, if they were smart, they may have left their cell phone at home. Let's hope they were not smart.

It looks like your idea of searching Texas DMV records for all black Pro-4X sales could bear fruit.

Starting with: - About 900K Nissan Frontiers sold in US from introduction to 2019. (I cant find numbers for high end Pro-4X sales). Then starting to break it down....

- Texas is about 10% of US population. Trucks, however, are popular in Texas. So, lets give trucks sales in proportion to Texas population a 50% increase. This would yield: 135,000 Nissan Frontier sales in Texas.

- Lets say that... what? 25% of Nissan Frontiers sold have been the Pro-4X trim level?

- This would yield about 33,000 Nissan Pro-4X truck sales in Texas since the introduction of the Frontier.

- There are 9 color possibilities with Frontiers. Lets say that.... black is 50% more popular than the possible proportional average.

- This yields 5,500 Black Pro-4Xs sold in Texas.

Then.... break it down by filtering out owners age 50(+) etc. Then.... filter the final group of owner's names though a tweaked up people finder data base used by advertisers looking for connections to Elizabeth Barrera via interests, social media, address etc.

Little to nothing about the investigative approach or evidence has been released.

What is everyone's opinion as to the audio and video evidence in this case? To me, both are too distorted and grainy to accurately say what I see or hear. I can't tell if there are two people in the truck. I can't tell if the killer put on or took off a mask of some sort. Although it does appear to me the killer has some sort of dress or bath robe on, I cant tell for sure. I can't be sure what the conversation is between Liz and the killer, although it does sound a bit like "Garage Sale" and it does not seem like Liz greets this person as if she knows them.

One other thought, it's early morning, still dark and Liz is alone, and a stranger is walking up to her. While she may have thought it was a buyer for the sale, she could have also been nervous since it's dark and she's alone, so it would make sense that the person would make some reference to the sale to get closer to Liz and ease her mind so her guard is down.

One other thing I may have missed, if anyone knows, please let me know. Is it accurate that Sergio called home and talked over the intercom of the security system while police were at the scene? If so, what did he say and what prompted him to do that?

I like your reasoning all until the last part where you say "Then.... break it down by filtering out owners age 50(+) etc"
We don't know if the killer borrowed the truck from their parents, grandparents, etc so I would not rule anyone out on age.

They should go painstakingly one at a time thru every Pro4X owner and see if they had connections to the victim, did they loan their truck to anyone, etc

Good point, and I agree. Borrowing is a real possibility.

There was an extensive discussion on why this person felt comfortable letting the car be seen so many times without (seemingly) a care.

#1 was that they had access to a car that could never be linked to them: for example, a personal care giver, a rental or repair person, a friend's, brother's 3rd cousin's girlfriend's uncle scenario.

#2 they were from far away with very little or no connection to Liz

#3 the only person who would recognize the car is in on it

#4 they are law enforcement

Still the possibility of having the plate # captured was there, and if it was, game over... the breadcrumbs will lead back to you.

I believe the answer to this is on Google's servers. Somebody mapped their way to her house the evening before to check where she lived and somebody found their way back home from there the day of the murders.

My working assumption is they are not local.

IMO
Good points!
Random thoughts I have:
- I just don't understand why they installed numerous cameras and security system especially the door alarm.
- Why did he and his parents feel the need to go to the house.
- All seems strange to me for them to be so young and afraid.
- Why was the front door camera recording when no one was at the door.

The police report shows case status closed. So is this case closed? Does LE already know who killed Liz? Does LE simply need that one tip, that one bit of information that someone may not even know is valuable information that will give LE exactly what is needed to make an arrest?

This case rarely gets any media attention. Why? Has this case been forgotten?
Why do some cases get more attention than others?

I know the family want answers… are they in contact with LE for updates?

Liz’s dad asked podcasters and TikTok’er to tell his daughter Liz’s story and that’s been done. Does more need to be done? Well, of course, it would help the case to use social media platforms and get Liz’s story out there.

Curious why hasn’t the award money increased?
Why isn’t there a billboard for Liz’s case… maybe a photo of the truck on a billboard?

Is the killer watching? … I would bet he/she is? The killer would want to know who is investigating the case and where the investigation is going. Probably feeling maybe they got away with murder… think again!

Liz and her family deserve justice!

Speculation and moo

Some cases get more attention because family and friends get out in front of the camera and address the public, grant interviews, make noise. Oh wait, that's happening here. Well, there ones that get attention have FB pages or websites. Hmmm...we have that here, too.

Maybe if Elizabeth 20 years old and looked like a model. But I've come across cases where that hasn't happened either.

Maybe if she had been with Suzanne Morphew on that 'bike ride' we'd be hearing more.

OK, I'm back where you started and out of ideas.

Thank you, @JnRyan. My bad, I don't use FB, instagram or TikTok. ;)

There really isn't an active public FB group on her. There are two or three private groups and the 501st has a page. There was one public group but nothing has been posted there since Feb 2019. BUT they do have a webpage with the timeline and references to media articles.

Have any new investigators been brought in to go back and look at this case from the beginning? I'm not saying the original ones didn't do a good job, but just thinking of a case like Delphi where the answer was there from pretty much day 1 and it took re-looking at everything to find it.

I also agree with those of you saying they may have a good idea and just need one tip. Perhaps the person they strongly believe it to be currently has a strong alibi provided by someone else. Maybe they need that person to decide to tell the truth and come forward. MOO

  • #219
To be clear, not saying LE didn't do their job. Only saying triple/double looks may be necessary. Go back to the friends, best friend of Liz Barraza and reinterview or re-review those interviews. Re check Liz’s colleagues’ interviews and alibis. The best friend or a close friend is going to know more about Liz and what was going on in her life prior to the senseless brutal killing than most anyone, maybe including S. Moo

I always wonder why some of these idiots think they’re going to get away with murder. But this case shows that sometimes they do get away with it, even on video. Great planning or just good luck?
