TX TX - Elizabeth Barraza, 29, murdered setting up garage sale, Harris Co, Jan 2019 #7

I just read that Sergio had a 2005 black Toyota Tundra that he kept at his parents house. He said he thought the killer used a black Nissan Frontier because it looked similar to his Tundra.... but I wonder if the shooter was actually driving his Tundra and added the Frontier decal. In this scenario it would be someone with access to his Toyota Tundra that shot Liz.
No, it was definitely a Frontier. It was clearly identifiable in all the video footage. More than just the logo matched up. Plus a Frontier is not a “full size” truck like the Tundra and it’s less common so stands out more. Anyone who knows vehicles can easily identify this truck in the video.

  • #722
This is my best recollection, but I recall seeing a police report on a true crime website where Sergio was asked in the back of a police car parked at the scene of the murder, "Do you know anyone who might want to harm Liz?" and he responded with the name of a female member of the Star Wars group, who was involved in a dispute with Liz of some sort. I wasn't allowed to post the police report, because of law enforcement practices for active homicide investigations, but I saw it that's what I recall! JMO.
There is a whole lot more than just that.

There’s some dots that connect with huge question marks behind them.

That’s asking a decal to do a lot of heavy lifting to overcome the rest of the Toyota branding, not to mention the different front ends, for example. (Tundra, Frontier)

Did Liz or Sergio know anyone that worked at a rental car company, a dealership, buy here pay here lot, or anywhere else that might have access to cars?

I ask this because its the same way Sheila Warren (dressed up like a clown to shoot her love rival on her doorstep) was able to use a car that didn't belong to her.

She worked at a dealership of some kind and a couple returned the car to her dealership mistakenly, when it belonged to another dealership. She carried out the crime in that car and it was almost impossible to figure out.

Houston Crime Stoppers determined to help Texas family get justice for the 2019 shooting of Liz Barraza; up to $50,000 reward offered

Liz’s father, Robert Nuelle Jr., recently recorded a quick video for Crime Stoppers. He shared the news that he received a cancer diagnosis in June, and would be fighting it hard. “I am extremely positive and hopeful,” Bob told the organization. “You guys are family to us. I am going to fight this thing as hard as I can for as long as I can.”

1755463681568.webp

In his video message, Bob had one other thing to say to the team at Crime Stoppers: “I am so grateful for all the support you’ve given us over the years,” he said. “Just keep this in mind: We ain’t done yet.”

Andy Kahan agrees. “Six years have gone by, and technology has improved. So there’s been the detectives that — that I’ve worked so closely with this. This — again, this is so near and dear to their heart. We meet regularly, and they’ve been able to use some of the advances in technology,” he said. “The bottom line is there’s somebody out there that knows who did this. And so we’re hoping that-- that you get a bolt, that you get a conscience, and you want to unburden yourself.”

“I’ve made a vow to Bob and Rosemary,” Kahan told Dateline. “You know, I’m — I’m never gonna leave what I’m doing until this case is solved.”

a quote from Mr. Nuelle, True Crime Unsolved Episode,

"I want that money. I mean, we raised 30,000 of that money ourselves.

I want that money to go to someone who took the risk of turning in these heartless animals that killed my daughter because I recognize that there's a risk.

You know, these guys clearly, clearly are not afraid to kill anyone they feel like killing.

and if you're willing to believe in the anonymity and come forward and break this case, I will never know who you are.

I will pray for you until the day I die because that's an extraordinary piece of courage and that's really what we're hoping for is we're hoping that someone will call the tip line and drop the tip that breaks this case."
****************************
My biggest worry is loved ones and family won't live to see the justice they seek in these horrific cases.

The quote breaks my heart; he is the courageous one.

Praying he wins both battles; the fight against cancer and the fight for justice 4 Liz.

Liz’s mother does not think Liz knew the shooter and she explains.

Being in the 501st group you learn of people’s patterns, the way they walk, and how you can identify each other, even though they are in full costume. They know who other people are that are in that group because they see each other frequently. So Liz’s mother said even though they weren’t in costume she doesnt think Liz would have recognized (killer) them.

Pershaps thats why SB watched the video of Liz's execution once. Ive always wondered why he watched it once only.

Did he not recognize the killer as someone in their group; and therefore he didnt need to watch video again?
Time will tell. jmo

I can assure you that the members of her local 501st have spent as many hours as all of us have, and likely many more, sleuthing this murder. I am just at a complete loss that nobody has been able to make any connections that have led to an arrest here. Nobody recognizes that truck, nobody recognizes that person in any way, nobody has put 2 and 2 together to say so -and-so wasn't where they were supposed to be that day etc...

Trucks can be borrowed (with or without the owners permission) obtained from different places (rentals, buy here pay here, dealerships) and cosplayers in particular imaginative, prepared, are really good at dressing up as someone or something else, just saying…..

Glad that Bob Nuelle explained how Crime Stopper's [HOU] tip line works. I wasnt aware of a lot of this info.

Timestamp 57:24
The best thing that anyone could do if they think they know something is dial 713-222 - tips [8477]
and register that tip. And one of the things that I I think is really
important for folks to understand for that Crimestoppper system to work the
preservation of anonymity is at the core of it.

And so for instance, they don't have caller ID.
They don't know who called them. They have no and the tips are taken by law enforcement.
And the thing about it is they give you a number, you know, your tip 407, okay?
And that tip is passed on to the detective in the case.
And if that detective, when the case solves and they have a Crimestoppers reward on it,
they contact the detective and they say, "Did any Crimestoppers tip provided break the case for you?"

And he says, "Oh yes, tip 407 did it. Okay, then their board of directors
meets on a monthly basis and they fund those tipsters.

But guess what?

They don't know who they are. They have no way of knowing.

So they tell people when you get your tip number that when you hear that the case is solved,
call us back and say, "Hi, I was tip 407 on the Liz Barraza case."
and they will tell you your tip was recognized by law enforcement.

You need to go to a bank. They'll tell you which bank. I'm not going to say which bank. You need to go to a bank next
Tuesday and identify yourself as tip 407 and they'll hand you a cashier's check
made out to cash for your tip amount.

Wow. I never knew that's how it worked. That's so cool.
Even the bank doesn't know who you are. My understanding is that for Liz, the
whatever you want to call it, reward, right?
The reward money is pretty high now, right? $50,000. $50,000. It's nothing that's nothing to
cashier's check straight, right? I mean, ultimately, here's what it comes down to. It's not $50,000
for a conviction. It's $50,000 for a tip that leads to the arrest and or charging
of an individual. Just an arrest. Yeah. Yeah.

And they may decide, for instance, like if you called up and you said, "Oh,
it's Mr. Magoo." Uh, and they had 25 other people that said it's Mr. Magoo
that had similar evidence, they're going to split that reward.

But if you call in and you mention something that is not
public knowledge, you call in and give them a tip that law enforcement is able to really use to narrow it down and get
to a suspect, get an arrest warrant, and get somebody in handcuffs, that reward is going to go claimed. And
and that's what we live for. I want that money. I mean, we raised 30,000 of that
money ourselves. I want that money to go to someone who took the risk of turning
in these heartless animals that killed my daughter because I recognize that there's a risk.

You know, these guys clearly are not afraid to kill anyone they feel like killing.
And if you're willing to to believe in the anonymity and come forward and break this case, I will never know who you

DTPete, thanks for the helpful reminders on this case. I hadn't realized that the burglary had happened quite a ways in the past.

I really have a hard time understanding this case. Is it a case of LE not having a clue? Or is it a case of LE knowing who did this, but cannot get the evidence to make an arrest (and get a conviction)
My pleasure!

Like @flowershop, I don't totally discount their apartment burglary or the "office/building" shooting incident, since Morf said that was recent.

Stranger things have happened in cases. Dan Markel's coked-up hired murders accidently shot a hole in the floorboard of their rental car on one of their recognizance trips. Could be the killer checking out her workplace, scouting.

Sergio said they were like Velcro. It would be one of the places she is without him. ALONE though: NO, but parking lot shootings are much more plausible than garage sales ones.

I have chalked it up to late night H-town antics for the building shooting, BUT "there is no such thing as a coincidence. They’re always suspicious. They happen more than once, they become evidence.”- Detective Joe Kenda
Florida has Florida Man
we unfortunately have H-town Man & Woman
Interesting thought/theory from Rosemary Nuelle:
~15:00 mark, "and so I really don't think that she knew the shooter, but the person that hired the shooter, I firmly believe that. I'm as positive as I possibly can be with not knowing what really happened, that person knew her and I think Sergio as well intimately. I mean, I think that they were very close friends, or they certainly had been at their house on multiple occasions."

In light of this it's also possible they knew Liz/Sergio during their apartment era.

What's the catalyst, Anniversary, the Trip, Christmas, New Years, Jealousy, $$

I certainly hope her family gets these answers soon and most of all Justice.

I have wondered before if Liz was selling and MLM.

Imagine a single mother (big targets around Christmas time) spending her last money on some kind of MLM and then blaming Liz for all her bad decisions. “Oh H**L no! This b* is going to DISNEYLAND?”

Never seen Liz attached to any multi-level marketing scheme.

I even joined the one local buy, sell, trade group she was in. Nothing for sell n there by her: Nada. Zip. Zilch.

There is no way I can see her getting caught up in a pyramid scheme. 1/She's smart, 2/What would be the point? She's already been employed at Rosen by 2014, probably her first "real professional" job, apparently with great benefits to have a $250,000 life insurance policy and paid vacation time for all their trips. 3/She's sweet by nature

via FB, around July 2018, she sold custom Harry Potter shoes and Hogwarts letters.
Did Liz or Sergio know anyone that worked at a rental car company, a dealership, buy here pay here lot, or anywhere else that might have access to cars?
Liz worked at Hertz way back in 2014 (via her FB).

Unsure what a buy here pays here lot is (not a good idea in Houston)

Keep in mind, most but not all, rental agencies even the little fly by night shady places, have installed trackers.

Definitely would be picked up by a Geo-Fence as that is the epitome of GPS.

I wonder if they were lost and had to make a U-turn because they switched off their cellphones, but on the reconnaissance night before, they had to have some way to navigate. I hope they triangulated all phones in the vicinity.

Can you tell me how this works? Do you mean that they compare the locations of known phones?

Detectives typically ask questions to build a profile of the victim and identify motives, suspects and circumstances surrounding a homicide.

-- Key question: Who would benefit from the victim’s death?
-- More key questions: Who was the victim close to or in conflict with?

-- What was the victim’s routine or last known activities?
Im sure all these have been looked at in Liz Barraza’s case. Something got missed, or more is needed!

The timing of when the Nissan Frontier arrives is suspect.
jmo

  • Early Morning [06:47:50 AM] The Nissan Frontier arrives and pulls into the neighborhood Princeton Place Drive from Kuykendahl Road and then drives into the Goddard School parking lot.
  • Early Morning [06:48:00 AM] The Nissan Frontier leaves the Goddard School parking lot to conceal on a different street.
  • Early Morning [06:48:00 AM] Sergio leaves the property to go to work, in a white panel van.
  • Early Morning [06:51:40 AM] The Nissan Frontier comes back into view and heads towards the Barraza home.
  • Early Morning [06:52:12 AM] The murderer does a 3-point turn on Cedar Walk, parks behind Liz’s car, and then exits walking towards the driveway where Liz is still setting up.
