I'm in New England, or I would go to the library etc and ask around. Is anyone following local? Or even local-ish? I think it might also be helpful to be from the area, or some connection to the area if you reach out on Facebook too. Just a thought as it is a smaller town. People might be more receptive?

Hey, you're in my neck of the woods!

41 years in a few weeks. Forty one long years… that sends up another flag because you could think she’d have at least gone to a school at SOME point yet not a single classmate in four decades has followed the trail of bread crumbs or connected the dots?

Agree that it is peculiar that no one has come forth. Given that she didn't have even a backpack or overnight bag (that we know of), she couldn't have come from that far away?

The only explanation that I can think of is that she was a chronic runaway, or throwaway child that everyone assumed just took off one last time. HOWEVER, the good dental care, stylish hair cut and sandals suggest some level of care. Nothing about this case adds up except I am sure she had someone she cared about at that prison who chose not to claim knowledge of her.
I'd sure like to know who was in that prison at that time from the Aransas Pass. As I suggested upthread it could have been an illicit BF, b/c a father or brother would have claimed knowledge of her IWT.

*IF* they are, why would classmates/other acquaintances stay silent if they know her? Not wanting to get involved, or? What a strange case.

Any locals to the Aransas Pass area on the thread?
I have the theory that our WCJD was *not* a high school student, but rather a middle school student. She looks very young to me. The only middle school I can find in Aransas Pass is A.C. Blunt Middle School.

Any locals know if this middle school was around in 1980? Not much about them online except they don't exactly shine academically. Further, anyone have access to Classmates to check my instinct on this?

I think I can lstill og into Classmates. I know I have in the past, although I have not used it in years. Let me see what I can find.

OK. Yes, I see alumni from the '70s on Classmates, so it was a school then @rosesfromangels

Given the time of year when WCJD was killed, I have often wondered if she had only just started high school that academic year, meaning she would only have attended the high school for two months at the most before her death. This would explain the lack of photos in high school year books and lack of high school friends who remember her.

Checking middle school year books is a good call!

Unfortunately, I do not see a middle school yearbook. There is a high school one for 1979 on Classmates. I might be mistaken, but I think people scoured it previously? I see one Freshman girl so far with similar features, but it is not enough where I would think it was WCJD based on that alone. edited: although comparing various sketches, and post-mortems, it is a decently strong resemblance.Of course, there is nothing we can do to compare or suggest though, without knowing if she is missing.

Hmm...So I looked at the businesses advertising in the 1979 Aransas Pass yearbook, and there was a jeweler, but sadly they seem to no longer be in business. The same for cafes, stores, etc.

I'm having a hard time finding anything out about the middle school; if it was even around in 1980. I am convinced she was not a high schooler.
Further, that area is close to various military bases. One I checked, opened after she had already passed. None the less, she could have been a "military brat" who was new to the area and yet unknown...another possibility. Although, I think the focus has been on checking high school books, and I think the focus should be on middle school.

I was just reading the various summaries on this case. This poor, poor girl was horribly brutalized and died a very painful death. In looking at all the killers apprehended and executed during that timeframe in Texas, it is likely her killer is dead and burning in hades. The bite mark on her right shoulder should have been an easy match to one of these miscreants, one would think? Let's hope their dental records are still available. This poor child's case if way overdue for justice.

Does anyone know which agency is now handling it? I've seen various reports on exhumations, tests, and so forth. Why no identification? Makes no sense what so ever.

It would nice if there was a way to get her a billboard or something in the area.

THank you! Please scour those pictures and see if you can spot her!
Whoops - moving too fast. You couldn't find evidence of the middle school in 1980? "AC Blunt Middle School" in Aransas Pass

I'm fairly certain CarlK has scoured this one.

Yes, I'm sure he has too. I think we're looking at the wrong thing. Not high school year books; we need MIDDLE SCHOOL year books. (Or school pics). I feel strongly this is what we need to find.

Private schools? Religious schools?

Doing photorealistic renditions of how she would have looked in elementary school is another option that might jog memories?
