I'm so glad that her family knows where she's been this whole time. Of course it's not the outcome I'm sure they hoped for. But at least they can have her back now.

Thanks to everyone here who has continued caring about her!

Rest peacefully now sweet girl.

Thank you for the update!
I hope, in the near future, her family will at least share her first name...we have all grown to have a special spot in our hearts for "our girl."
<modsnip>
May she rest in peace and I pray her family and loved ones find strength, healing, and resolution.

OH WOW.

I am glad this thread is unlocked. She is probably the main reason I used this site so much. Hope we hear something on the anniversary coming up next week.

Carl did make a post on fb page that tells is her age and initials, I won't post them here though as I'm not sure if its allowed.
I don't have FB. What was her age?

I don't see why we shouldn't be allowed to post the info here. It's publicly available and it was Carl who shared it. She was 14 and her initials were SJ

Wow. She was young. RIP SJ.

Poor, poor SJ. I hope her family finds peace and comfort in these times. I've known about her age since Carl posted it, but I still truly haven't gotten over it. Only 14... how horrible :(

Godspeed, SJ. Only 14. No wonder the waitress did not believe that you were “nineteen”.

Rest in peace Jane Doe, my thoughts are with you and your family.

Love and continued strength to her family.

I think now we should focus on finding justice for her. The chapter in her case on who she was, how old she was, or where she hailed from is closed (at least for now). The family still doesnt know who murdered their child and it would probably remove a lot of pain if the person who did it was identified. WCJD would probably want the same as well.

Yes, this child suffered a horrific death, and was then tossed like trash. I keep going back to the bite mark. I think that needs to be revisited. What if a comparison was done years later after the Perp had a lot of dental work done? I think that needs to be considered.

Amateur opinion and speculation

Rest in Peace, sweet girl.

May the news of your identification bring your family closure after so many years.

You are always in our thoughts. <3

Bite marks are INCREDIBLY unreliable. Think about it, the skin is elastic and twists and stretches in many different ways. The jaw is also flexible and can move in a a variety of ways, overbite, underbite, from one side to the other.

The Innocence Files went into this with a "leading expert" Micheal West who has a ton of false convictions under his belt due to his expert witness testimony and just today TheTrailWentCold discussed how Raymond Rawson helped convict more than one person who was later ruled innocent by DNA testing.

The Innocence Project has a great article about it: Why Bite Mark Evidence Should Never Be Used in Criminal Trials

No offense to Carl here, but releasing her initials was not a good idea. Ive already seen a witch-hunt begin, and it’s not in Salem, Massachusetts.

I've not seen anything about her identity or family at all. I've seen a couple of idiots on fb with the usual "why weren't they looking for her" nonsense comments ignorant to the many posts that tell them that they were looking for her,she was reported missing, she was loved and valued, but I haven't seen anyone try to out her identity if they do indeed know it.

Considering that it's been nearly a month and no name has been released, it's gonna be another Lyle Stevik, we all know it at this point. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if they chose to do a press conference and (possibly) release her name then. Just look at some of these comment sections on videos about her already.
