It is possible he had older parents knew of her disappearance and they died and was adopted either in the system or by relatives.

So had Never Forget me page pop up on newsfeed and there was something quite interesting about the frequently asked questions they answered. They said that police will not say whther they have the killers DNA or not? Isnt that a significant clue, why would they not release it.

I know, that confused me too. I didn't know of that until today.

My only guess is, if it's publicly released, they think the killer might flee?

Is the killer even alive? I wonder if they know who it is? Maybe waiting for identification..perhaps. That does seem likely. I wonder if it is someone well known and do not want to say anyhing until she is identified. I wonder if they do know if she is in some way related or connected to the killer, perhaps.

I could see that! If he is identified, and still alive, then I hope to God that that sick, sick 🤬🤬🤬 is locked up and never, ever allowed to see the sun again.

There's a good chance he's dead, though. If he is dead, and they identified him, at least her family can know who killed her. I'd imagine that knowing who killed your relative, even if he is dead and went unpunished, would be better than not knowing. It would likely be better to know that he is off the streets then forever wonder.

Long shot here because the age is off, but throwing it out just in case. She is not listed in NAMUS. I'm not very good at facial recgonition at all, but she seems to have some similar features. It's hard to tell, but it also seems like there could be a scar on her right eyebrow.

I think that's a really good find. I can see a resemblance with the PM pictures.

Wow.. This should be looked into even if the age is off a little. I really see a resemblance.

I would love to hear Carl's expert opinion on their facial features.. I am definitely no expert.

Ida's nose is very much different, IMO. It protrudes more prominently, the dorsum is narrower, and the columella is positioned below the nostrils. WCJD's nostrils and columella are more or less on an even plane.

Also, Ida was a couple of months short of her 25th birthday when WCJD was killed. That is well above even the loosest age estimates for WCJD's age.

I'm doubtful of the pen pal idea, simply because .. In the 80s how would a child find a pen pal in prison.. Now a days yes it would be easy.. Not so much back then.. There was no internet .. I remember in school one year we selected from a list the teacher had a pen pal in the armed services and once a kid from another country.. Surely schools weren't encouraging teen age girls to correspond with criminals .. So unless it was a family member or maybe a friend of "Ruthie" knew them I don't see how she'd get a pen pal in prison..
And (I've got to get back to town to check this theory) BUT I do believe after leaving the first gas station she would have had to go in complete different direction then the Hitchin Post to get to ellis( I forgot to go from gas station to Ellis in my trip the day )
Didn't say someone get a list of inmates from the unit not long ago.. (In case my theory is wrong) I'd be interested in seeing if any of them were from Rock Port or aransas pass??...

Is anyone going to submit Mary Louise Day? If no one else is going to, I will. It's worth a shot, and we have nothing to lose.

Also, even though I keep saying I really think Ruthie had been missing only a week, I think Mary's LKA date could be off. Although I am definitely not convinced that she is Ruthie, I think it may be worth the try. The blurry photograph wouldn't show the eyebrow scar anyway, and the only other photo of her was taken years before 1980.

Mary's case just seems jumbled. No one seems to know her LKA date. Doe Network says January 1, 1980 and Charley Project just says spring of 1980. Spring to me could mean anything from March to May. I'm sorry, but how do you not know the exact date your family member went missing? Also 5'8" seems really tall for a 12 year old. I wonder if some of the information was entered wrong.

And you're absolutely right, the photos they have for her make her look like a little girl not someone who is almost a teenager.

I made the trip from the Hitchin Post to Ellis last week. I took the 1696 exit (Pinedale Rd, north of the Hitchin Post) and went a long way their, but then returned on the 19 (south). So, someone could have given her directions leading to the south or north of the Hitchin Post. That said, I don't think she ever actually left the Hitchin Post alive.

This trip to the Ellis Unit was a very creepy drive. It's literally in the middle of nowhere. I guess I would have to assume she didn't know that. One thing did occur to me while I was out there - could she have actually been planning to go somewhere that she knew or heard about and the Ellis Unit was the landmark to find the place? There isn't much out there, but in the 80's there would have been a few farms/ranches, and a couple of churches in Riverside, the town adjacent to Ellis. So a hypothetical would be that someone said to get to my house, or the the church or whatever, "you go towards the Ellis Unit but turn on XX road about a half a mile before the prison."

I'm not sure her response that she was going to see a friend at Ellis really means she was going to see someone at Ellis. I have a 13 year old and half of what he says really means something else. So, hypothetical again, maybe the waitress said "Why are you headed out there" and she just said "to see a friend" Could be true, could be BS, could be she was going to see a friend somewhere in the generally vicinity.

It was a long drive to the Unit - I had a lot of time to think :)

I found it. At first I was not sure about this, but he does actually resemble her. I think she would be much older than him, but it's worth reaching out. I'm willing to measage him, but don't want more than one of us to do it. Let me know.

I messaged him. Will let y'all know if I hear anything back.

Late 80's/ early 90's inmates put ads in teen angels mag for pen pals. I'm sure that's not the only publication. Also could a been through friend of friend.

I think the inmate is red herring though. I think she caught the wrong ride.

My niece is 12 years old, and 5 feet 8 inches tall. Unusual, but not unheard of.

I tend to agree she did not make it away from hitching alive. She caught her last ride there. She was found not far away.
