Statement regarding Julie Ann Gonzalez from the Austin Police Department
The Austin Police Department has been investigating this case since it was first reported. Because there is currently no evidence of a criminal act to justify subpoenas for bank records, phone records, etc., APD has relied greatly on the assistance of Julies family and friends to gather related information.
Numerous computer searches in Texas and other states and interviews with family, friends, and co-workers have been conducted in an effort to clarify the circumstances under which Julie disappeared. Although no evidence yet has been uncovered to indicate foul play, the longer the time passes between Julies last contact with family members and friends, the greater the concern becomes about her welfare. According to family and friends, it is inconsistent with Julies past behavior to be gone this long without contacting loved ones.
Because this is an ongoing investigation, APD is limited in the information it can release. However, APD is in regular contact with Julies mother. The Austin Police Department is grateful to the assistance of Julies family and their tireless efforts to keep Julies information in the public forum.
The Austin Police Department urges anyone with information about Julies current whereabouts or the circumstances under which she disappeared to call the Austin Police Departments Missing Persons Hotline at 512-974-5250.
