Found Deceased TX - Lauren Elizabeth Thompson, 32, Panola County, 10 Jan 2019 *called 911, car found in a ditch*

I thought Lauren had custody of her children - meaning they lived with her?
It is unclear exactly what the circumstances were at the time she disappeared. The action by Child Services happened 5 days after she disappeared. Usually with a missing person and relatives to take care of children you don't see Child Services taking action. It leads me to believe that Lauren had some interaction with Child Services prior to her disappearance.

Something significant was going on prior to her disappearance. Not sure what that was though her friends have mentioned prior incidents similar to what took place when she disappeared (someone after her, calling 911) but those resolved themselves pretty quickly. I am concerned that she has some sort of mental illness and drug use.

You "ain't" the only one baffled!
I am concerned that there haven't been any organized volunteer searches by friends and family as far as I know. Only the initial search by law enforcement.

The escape plan statement by her friends is puzzling.

Actually, she had family and friends that were going to do this. LE asked them not to. They said they had plenty of help with the Texas Rangers and other law enforcement. It was also very wet and had been flooding. I'm sure they didn't want someone tromping around on evidence or possibly brcoming a victim in the area. I think it is pretty certain someone took her elsewhere. Under what circumstances, I don't know. LE is keeping everything close to the vest.

Bumping for Lauren! Where are you?

I live in Panola County and have been so worried for Lauren, ever since I saw the story posted by local media the day she went missing. I’ve been a lurker here for a while and thought you all might have pieced together more information that I had.

I don’t know her, but we do have several friends in common, judging by her Facebook page. My friends who seem to know her haven’t shared any fundraising sites, any official Facebook pages, or anything else that would prove she’s actively being searched for. I do think the sheriff is doing all that he can, but they don’t seem to have any information to go on.

There is an unofficial FB group for her... it was started by strangers, but a few people have joined that do know her. This weekend, someone posted some very specific references to what they thought happened to her - and named a person. It seems like the group admin tried to report it, and then the person deleted all of their comments and left the group. I wonder if it was one of her exes? I briefly saw what name they said, and I think I would recognize it if I came across it again.

I did drive past where her car was found, just to get an idea of the terrain. It’s very hilly and wooded, and wet because of all the rain we’ve had lately. But, only on that side of the intersection - there *are* houses and more open spaces close by in other directions that would seem to be better choices if you were trying to get away from someone. :(

Well, I was going to ask if anyone thought it was possible she may have come back home and it just wasn't "reported to the news" because she wanted privacy. But....I just did a google search and found this.

Family offering $5K reward in case of missing East Texas woman

PANOLA COUNTY, Texas — The family of a missing Panola County woman has posted a $5,000 reward for information leading to her discovery.

According to the Panola County Sheriff's Office, Lauren Thompson went missing on January 10 after calling 911.

RELATED: Search continues for missing Panola Co. woman

The PCSO says Thompson seemed to be in "huge distress" and confused as to exactly where she was and felt someone was after her.

The sheriff’s office was able to get three 911 pings in the proximity of where the call was coming from. Five minutes after the call ended, Thompson's car was located.

Officials are focusing on more phone records, paper trails and calls to help gather more information as to Thompson’s possible whereabouts.

Citizens are being asked to refrain from assisting with search parties at this time.

If you have any information on this case, please contact the PCSO at (903) 683-0333.

Because her car was found within 5 minutes of her call, I'm leaning towards someone was following her and took her.

If she did run into the surrounding area, I do not understand why police are saying not to search? This one is really puzzling to me. It's been way over a month since she was missing, with no sightings of her (that's been reported at least). I can tell you if it was my family member, no way would I be sitting on my couch NOT searching. Has anyone else followed a case where they have asked not to search?

I mean, I guess they are saying "Citizens are being asked to refrain from assisting with search parties at this time." So..........ARE the police searching and just don't want the public's help? Again, I've followed many cases here and I can't remember any of them that didn't offer the public to help as long as it was organized and done correctly. There has been nothing on Lauren, just silence?

In the days right after she went missing, the sheriff posted on social media that they had enough law enforcement agencies out there and had ground searched over 1,000 acres and searched even more from an aerial search (although I’m not sure how effective aerial searches are in wooded areas). He said he was taking names of volunteers and groups willing to search, if needed, but never called on them.

JMO... It made me wonder if maybe they found something that made them think she had been taken to a different location?

They did several searches and I think they are pretty sure that she isn't there. A very short time passed between the call and the time they located her car. I think LE doesn't want others to endanger themselves.

The fact that she left a casino w one grand is not being addressed, nor have LE confirmed they went over every second of the video from the casino. This troubles me, did she slight someone at the casino or reject them outright?
It's possible someone did follow her this time. I DK, these are my opinions and thoughts. Was still on the road or only road from the casino?

Lauren was not coming from a casino. That was a different case referenced in this thread.

Why is it said cell phone ran out of battery specifically and not just “the call ended abruptly”
Also happened at 2:24 in the afternoon? Had thought it was at night.
She’s been missing SO long. I sincerely hope she had some sort of mental break and will come home soon!

I wondered that too, about the phone. Maybe she told them her battery was dying?

That's a question that I have had. Maybe she did say the battery was dying. Reception can be bad in this area as well. I also wondered if someone snatched the phone from her. Maybe the reward money will get someone talking.
