My grandchildren weren't to be alone with the kids, but her mother would take them back to her, you know she'd changed, even knowing there were restrictions in place. What sealed the deal for the judge was mom's new boyfriend of five days handing my four year old grandson a handgun.

The type of injury and evidence of abuse including other injuries.

I shudder to think of a country where the burden of proof changes to what you want it to be.

I am not saying that DV didn't do something here. I just see the previous injury being used to throw shade at the mother, which is a violation of TOS. She is z victim.

Is that why all her kids have been taken away and she is barred from contact with them?

I think the fact that mom has been barred from contact with her kids likely shows she was involved in the decision to allow boyfriend to care for Maleah.

I agree. If true, how horribly awful. For the life of me I can’t imsgine why she’d do so. Moo

It wasn’t her new man. It was someone she had been with for at a couple of years at least. She has a child with him and he appeared to be an active parental figure from sm. I’m sure she trusted him with her kids. It’s easy to act like you’d never leave your kids alone with your partner. But this was a funeral not a planned vaca.

She most likely trusted him. :(

Thank you for this, it's quite telling!
He was ever so close to that airport when things fell apart.
Below all MOO

Also, I'm not from Texas nor have I driven in the Houston area. I have, however, driven in many other busy metro areas. And I always ALWAYS avoid driving thru the city center. For example, I swing around Chicago on 294 instead of driving straight thru on 90/94. The traffic is just so inconsistent that I could get caught for 2 hours in a jam near city center.

I would assume the same would be true for Houston. One would drive AROUND Houston up to the airport like Google maps recommends. Is there are reason one would drive straight thru the heart of Houston to go to the airport? I feel like if you're trying to get to the airport at a specific time and don't want to get caught in traffic, you're going to avoid 69.

And it’s not the first time her children have been removed from her care. Something major has to change when the removed-returned-removed-returned cycle only stops when a child is dead.

I want so badly to feel sympathy for this mother but it is just so hard. My heart hurts for this baby, whatever happened, wherever she is, I just pray she is found soon. This has been off to me since day 1 and I do not know how anyone could defend him but time is up. It's time to tell the truth.

Oh, the children were removed by CPS prior to the August '18 incident?

I agree - or possibly near where the car was found.

That creek is awfully close to where they found the car, which is troubling.
My initial thought with that circle is that he would want to put some distance between Maleah and the car.
But he also told the worst story in the world, presumably expecting people to believe him... so...

I cannot find a link that says anything about the flu or the last person to see her besides DV, which is kind of strange If you ask me, I am curious to hear who actually saw her alive last.

Any and all comments about her Aunt last trying to see her and being told she had the flu on Thursday before Amber alert cannot be confirmed nor denied and were found from sleuthing SM which is why it cannot be discussed further here.
KHOU had live video feed earlier that discussed many, MANY things, including the DCS documents.

Not that MSM has reported. But this is the second time in less than a year.

DV last person to see her, unless someone buys the three Hispanic male story.
Yes,that's true.( according to him. )

I meant outside of that family/friends entirely.

I haven't read anywhere that she was in preschool or daycare, so those aren't options either, unfortunately.

Many links on page 1. Sometimes we don’t repost the same link repeatedly.
Emph. mine

Was going to comment something similar, but you beat me to it. :)
Thanks for clearing that up !

Why did missing 4-year-old Maleah Davis need brain surgery?

Thanks.

If CPS still has temporary custody can they be held responsible?

The case is still ongoing, and CPS still has temporary custody of Maleah. The next court date is set for May 22.

Why did missing 4-year-old Maleah Davis need brain surgery?

It looks like the child's physical custody was returned to the mother but the state still had legal custody of the child.

Whether or not CPS officials could be criminally liable for what happened to Maleah depends on the facts. Some were charged out here in CA in the abuse death of Gabriel Fernandez:

An 8-Year-Old Was Brutally Abused for Months. Why Did No One Save Him?

What I see here, from your link, is that Maleah was living with grandma, mother and mom's boyfriend when she went to the hospital on July 10, 2018, due to throwing up blood and lethargy.

Next, she was taken to the hospital on July 28, 2018 for a cut on her forehead. Still living with the same people.

Finally, still living with mom, boyfriend, and grandma, she was taken to the hospital in August, 2018, for a horrible head injury and bleeding in her brain.

Suspected child abuse was reported. CPS took the kids away. But ultimately could not confirm the abuse and allowed the kids to return to mom's physical custody in February of this year, while retaining legal custody, monitoring the situation and mandating parenting classes for mom and boyfriend. Neither have taken the classes yet.

Now, two months after Maleah was returned to mom, she's missing and I think we all know she's dead.

It's not hard to figure out, IMO, that this poor child was the victim of systemic abuse.

So.

9pm 5/3 - DV assaulted and abducted at 69 & Greens Road.
?? Morning 5/4 - family reports DV missing to police.
3pm 5/4 - Nissan spotted by traffic camera near Cheesecake Factory (near First Colony Mall)
6pm 5/4 - DV "wakes" on the side of the road with son and Maleah missing at Highway 6 and Southwest Freeway (near First Colony Mall)
9-10pm 5/4 - DV arrives at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital with son. He is treated for minor injuries. He was dropped off in a vehicle and did not walk.
11am 5/9 - Nissan found in parking lot at Highway 6 & Murphy Road

Here's a map I made for easy locating of the individual places: Maleah Map - Google My Maps
Let me know if anyone wants me to add any other pins.
I'm just now getting to look at your map and it's fantastic. Thank you! I've asked for it to be copied over to the next thread. :)

As a person living in Chicago close enough to 90 that I can hear it with my windows open, I just wanted to take a moment to praise your wise choices.

Also, you're right. His route makes no sense in general, but most particularly on a Friday night.

@gitana1 if M is found deceased & someone was supposed to have M in their custody, but did not, can charges be levied against them?

CPS took advantage of their temporary custody to remove the children from the house which includes DV. The disappearance of Maleah prompted the latest action. The head injury was not determined to be the result of abuse.

So sad. Kids deserve better. :(
