I thought the same. (Though I thought maybe they hoped for that after she was placed.) I also wondered if that's why TX Equuseach came in so quickly but I didn't realize they were based so closely. I'm glad she was found before any weather could have affected her recovery (or how far she could have traveled in the bayou.)

Are there alligators in the bayou?

One other reason LE may be able to quickly call it foul play - it is clear that there was decomposition inconsistent with the story being told.

ETA - that may be why there hasn't been a definitive ID yet. I would think identity would be immediately apparent if the "timeline" as reported were correct.

SBM * The police was too quick to immediately call it a homicide. IMO the body must have had very visible marks of violence, black eyes, bruises, burns etc. I think that a pedophile would strangle his victim so an autopsy would be needed to find COD or if it was an accidental drowning water in the lungs.

* I dont know this QX fellow that some people are criticizing, but in my opinion he was the only one who spoke well and what he said was damning to the mother and her boyfriend. (please stop referring to the four month old boyfriend as a parent).

I am still looking for KPRC Taisha Walker's report that was on the 4p and 5p news today. I ran across this on TW's Instagram, an interview with a woman at the apt complex. She was very upset. Hope this link works. Login • Instagram

I'm sorry, I guess you have to have an Instagram account to view it. Maybe someone can figure out how others can view the interview. Sorry to be such a #linkloser
I saw the video, can we discuss the neighbor’s interview with MSM?

If so, she said the body was found NUDE and then went on to say after the missing person report said the clothing she was last seen in, anyone could’ve removed the child’s clothing. I didn’t quite follow because she was so emotional, but if there was no clothing on the body, this is going to be more horrifying than I thought.

Sitting tightly on my hands.

If the mom and boyfriend were in the black truck as the upset neighbor believed, it may have a GPS on it. That’s a newer model Honda Ridgeline, only in production since 2017. Pretty nice and expensive vehicle for 20 year olds. Moo

Piecing together what happened to two-year-old Maliyah Bass
"When I went over there, saw the apartment, talked with neighbors, learned a few things. I also learned that the day the baby went missing, they were here at this store, late late night and the baby was at home by herself," Quannell said

Someone should count the number of apartments there with those or similar coverings. It could be a maintenance issue?
It doesn't really matter why the board was on the window. The fact that the board was on their window is relevant because it totally refutes the claim that they were able to see Maliyah through the window. Unless they have X-Ray vision, I don't see how they could've been able to really watch her outside. And the fact that they made a point to remove the board is also very telling. I guess they didn't think the neighbors would remember the board being on the window prior to her disappearance.

I know you were making a point/a joke but I’d just like to point out that there are men, even older than him, that don’t cook, for whatever unbeknownst reason to me...*inserting eye-roll * My husband is one of those men. He’s 52 and still doesn’t make himself food, let alone a sandwich. It truly BAFFLES me. If I don’t cook he won’t make himself food, and will not eat. He will complain that he’s hungry, and I will give him ideas of stuff to make but he never makes himself food. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Maybe this guy is on the spectrum. I definitely don’t think that he is, but I definitely think my husband is.
Anyway, are his reactions crocodile tears or is he really upset? And why haven’t we seen a reaction like this from her mother? (I’m only on page 10, so I don’t know all the deets yet). If his emotions are real, I bet he’s a Libra. MOO.
Plenty of people on the spectrum, and with extensive disabilities are still very much capable of doing things like making a sandwich. I don't like cooking, at all. If I'm home alone I would rather go out and buy something already made, but <modsnip> making a sandwich is not cooking. And I'm in no way judging you and your husband, you do what works for you. This man was capable of teaching a 2-year-old her ABC's and her 1,2,3's, he even managed to teach her how to get home but he is unable to make his own breakfast? Can't grab an apple and eat it? Can't pour cereal and milk into a bowl? That's the bare minimum. Why call the mother to come inside and make breakfast if she was outside with the baby? Makes no sense. I also wonder if they work and how they support themselves financially. QX stating that the living conditions were not appropriate for a child to live there also tells me a whole lot.

I suspect the child's body was in the pillow case the bf mentioned. That could explain why the jogger had to get her husband to come and verify what she saw was really a body. It could also explain why LE immediately called it foul play and opened a homicide investigation.

I also think we are going to find out that Maliyah was deceased days before she was reported missing.

It's sad. Reminds me of poor Chance Walsh.

ETA: If Maliyah was put in a pillow case and placed in water, that statistically speaks to female offender behavior.

We have only seen a few photos of little Tootie. In the few she appears clean, hair done nicely, nourished and cute clothes. So what the hell happened. Did life go South in say the past 4 months??

Pretty intense video at link. The neighbors are livid at these two for some reason. I wonder if any of them took their concerns to CPS prior to this murder happening?

Family of missing 2-year-old meets with Quanell X, seeks answers

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- People across Houston are upset and demand justice after the body of a young girl was found in a southeast Houston bayou as crews searched for missing 2-year-old Maliyah "Tootie" Bass.

On Monday, Maliyah's mom and her boyfriend went back to the apartment, where neighbors who had set up a memorial for the toddler at the front door of where she lived, became very angry.

They were yelling at Bass' mother and her boyfriend who were escorted into their apartment by members of Quanell X's team. Neighbors were having to hold back others who live in the complex from charging at the child's mother. They said the story that has been told does not make sense and they want justice for the child.

I was thinking the same thing. But then why would the BF bring up the pillowcase in his interview? He said he gave her one to hold her blocks after he broke her toy chest. Another odd thing to mention.

I know LE is going over every word said by whomever was interviewed by reporters. I feel confident that they will piece this all together perfectly.

Let's wait and see how long this baby was dead. I think it could have been longer than just the time she supposedly disappeared off the playground, and maybe that is why she was not seen on security cam leaving the complex. She was already gone.

IMO the pillow case was mentioned as it may very well be what little Tootie was placed in as CharlestonGal suggests. It was with her when she was "taken"

There is always a smidgen of truth in every lie. Nothing is said in a vacuum.

"If" all is not as is currently being presented, then every word spoken, every nuance, every detail means something.

MOO

People often "leak" information under stress. The fact that he mentioned the pillow case and the broken toy box at all says those two items are probably significant to him. jmo
