Defense can try but they will convince exactly zero people that KA was cool with CS hooking up with Mo. All of her actions at the time and subsequently show she was threatened and bothered and obsessed.

Next witness: Caitlin Cash. Cash was the friend who Wilson was visiting at the time of her death. She performed CPR on Wilson and called 911.


State begins its line of questioning. First exhibit is a map of Maple Ave with a pinpoint on the apartment/crime scene.

Cash is being asked about her memories from May 11, 2022. Walks through their morning together and how Wilson left to hang out with Strickland. We are now looking at a screenshot of the locking/unlocking of the deadbolt on Cash's apartment.


"Her brain is leaking," Cash tells the dispatcher. Cash is now very visibly distraught on the witness stand as she hears it again. The family behind the prosecution is crying into tissues and holding each other. This is a very hard phone call for everyone to hear.

"Don't give up," dispatcher tells Cash who is still administering CPR. She is crying as she counts out loud. Dispatcher is encouraging her along the way.Cash says she can hear the sirens in the distance. The 911 phone call has lasted 7 minutes so far.

Cash is on the brink of exhaustion when police officers arrive. The 911 call ends.


That was an incredibly heavy moment for everyone in this courtroom. There is a collective sigh when the 911 call ends.Back to witness testimony:Cash says she remembers that moment, has had CPR training but did not know at the time if Mo was still alive.


We are now being shown photos of Cash's apartment exterior. There is crime scene tape blocking it off from a back driveway. Cash's car can be seen underneath an overhang.A different angle shows the staircase that leads to the front door of the apartment. Mo's bike bag is at the base of the stairs on the grass. Earlier in the day, it was at the top of the stairs on the porch.

We are now looking at interiors of Cash's apartment. It is small with hardwood floors. There is a staircase that leads to a loft. You can see the lock with a keypad on it that deadbolts the door and electronically sends timestamps to Cash's phone.


We are looking at an alternate angle of the crime scene now. You can see Mo's legs and feet lying on the floor of the bathroom. Her body is covered by a wall from the knee up.


We are now looking at a picture of Mo's race bike which has been thrown into heavy brush. Cash says it is a bamboo forest that is close to her house. Another photo shows Cash after the murder. She looks shook. Her eyes are wide. She says she was "completely shocked.”


Cash says she spoke to police at her home and at the police station that same night. Cash says she knew about Mo's relationship with Strickland. Says they were romantic in Oct. 2021 but not May 2022.


Now recalling a night at The Meteor in Fall 2021, a café hangout for cyclists on South Congress.Mo and Cash had a conversation about a phone call Mo received. Cash says Mo was agitated and caught-off-guard about the phone call. No further questions from State.


Defense's cross-examination...


Defense: Who else in #ATX did Mo know? Mo knew a college friend named Jeanene (sp?).Talking about Oct. 2021 relationship: Not dating, but more than a friendship. Not a fling, but casual relationship. At the time, Strickland and Armstrong had broken up.

Cash's testimony was extremely hard for me to read. Reminded me of a time in my youth when my small group of young friends helped our buddy in the moments after he broke his neck in a bike accident. You never really recover from sudden trauma like that. Hopefully she has all the support she needs to get through this.

Both, I think. IMO (in her twisted mind), Mo represented what she hadn’t attained: CS’s fascination, and affection & acclamation for her gifts. Plus youth. Became a sick obsession, with others too much in denial a/o cowed to intervene—before it was too late. But the onus is on *her.* Plus, who knows what kind of toxic stuff was going on in the relationship with CS. No excuse. Hideous. My projection.

Mo's bike was swabbed after it was found in the bushes 20 yards from the murder scene; DNA expert found strong likelihood that DNA matches that of KA

This is nicely laid out, and the digital footprint will be key to a conviction - imo, she was filled with rage, jealous and hate and wasn't going to stop until she succeeded in getting rid of the person (all created in her own mind) she thought to be a threat. moo

Also, I think she feels entirely justified. Passive aggressive, playing at nice, her target IMO was always CS. Apply maximum pain. Destroy is pretty plaything.

Looking at a screenshot of Cash's call log. 9:54pm, Cash calls 911.Walking through her memories of entering crime scene: Door is already unlocked. Cash says she see's Mo's feet sticking out from bathroom. She is about 15-20 feet away. She says, "Hi Mo, I'm home." When she got closer, she could see her whole body lying there. It is hard for Cash to speak now in the courtroom. Her voice is breaking. But she is not crying.Says Mo was covered in blood and lying on her back. Cash immediately bent down and tried to wake her up. She called 911. She was holding her phone, purse and leftovers from dinner. All were dropped.#KaitlinArmstrong

We are now about to listen to Cash's 911 call:Cash is frantic, asks for EMS. You can hear panting/grunting in the background. An EMS answering machine picks up. Takes 15-20 seconds to get a dispatcher.Cash finally speaks to dispatcher. Gives address. Tells dispatcher about her friend on the floor and "there is blood everywhere." She doesn't know what happened. Mo is not awake and there is blood all over her face and head. Wilson is not bleeding.Cash is now crying on the witness stand as she listens to this recording.

The fact that Mo was caught off guard and agitated by the call which came from an angry and territorial KA, indicates to me that CS may well have led her to believe that KA and he were “not a couple anymore, just friends”.
