Did it say somewhere in MSM that the shell casings matched those at the scene of the murder? I only remember seeing that LE stated that the gun was a possible match to the one used to murder MW. At the time they put out this statement, I don't think they had the ballistic results back yet, and I haven't seen an updated LE statement since then. Perhaps I missed it.
I thought I had read that, or maybe I assumed it when they said that they had “matched the gun” to the crime scene.

I am proposing a possible theory that would divert LE Authorities. KA got off the plane in Laguardia airport, she remains in the secure area (i do not know if she checked baggage), an accomplice who has already cleared TSA security and is making a connecting flight switch to the 2nd leg flight in secure area of airport, gives KA their boarding pass to 2nd leg, KA boards under accomplices 2nd leg ticket, and KA flies under someone else's name to a different city in US....AMOO
This is really intriguing. Though someone would really be sticking her neck out to help KA like that.

Very interesting! I didn't realize this was possible in the US.

In Canada, airlines are required to check ID at the boarding gate to ensure that names match those on the boarding passes. I've flown between Canada and the US many times but never picked up on that difference.

Agree, and it’d make for a good movie or thriller plot. It speaks to a huge weakness in airport security, which is the ease of switching boarding passes when two individuals are both past TSA. There is no facial matching at jetway check-in. this really could only work for a domestic flight, as there is ID/ticket database cross-match at arrivals customs. But Spider92 - great point and very doable within the US.

Police recovered two handguns from Armstrong and Strickland's residence on May 12, Spitler said, but did not match one of those handguns to Wilson's murder until the 17th.

Perhaps it is just the wording, but earlier LE had stated the likelihood of the gun being a match was "significant". I think we can safely assume the Sig Sauer found at CS's home is the weapon that was used to kill MW. JMO

The attendant who scans my ticket always looks at me when she scans it before I enter the terminal to board the plane. So, it would have to be a female, IMO, to be able to pull this off.

He reads to me as a fairly typical 25-39yo male with a big-ego athletic pursuit who isn’t dreaming of family and corporate job. He liked having his cake and eating it. He never proposed to his 35yo live-in girlfriend who was administratively organizing his life. He picked up M on his BMW motorcycle and tried to convince the girlfriend after he was dropping off flowers (ever try to motorcycle with a bouquet? ;)).

Maybe this is because I have a circle of friends and history a lot like M’s (different sport but similar profile of academically successful Ivy grads and self-perceived rock stars) - but I know DOZENS of men who lived their 20s like this, multiple women, usually two or three at a time, always a main sacrificing syncophant at the house without a ring and the captivating two or three rotating side pieces. I’m not making excuses for this guy. I am saying he’s not rare. He was just out for his own cake and he never stopped eating it.

And are all of them attention wenches, for lack of a better term?

Because the last thing he publicly declared was how scared he was and that he was in hiding. Dragging all the limelight to himself, and in the meantime, there is a young victim, prey to his ex, but also to his dalliances.

I think the behavior, the cheating, the attitude to women might be sport-specific, but the response after the tragedy might still depend on a person; some people are brave, some, cowards.

YES. Agree. Tremendous parallels between the two cases. One key difference: Jennair Gerardot thought she had nothing left to live for. She’d been with Mark since high school, her career had hit roadblocks, she was in a new state away from friends and support and she saw no path forward; thus the murder-suicide. KA walked through airports with her yoga mat on a few days following a murder. She sees a path forward. What was it? When LE figures out what that path was - this case will resolve.
True. But they indicate that they believe she’s just winging it without a solid plan. Who knows? But it’s clear that a path forward which includes being the subject of an international manhunt with a federal warrant out on you for “unlawful flight to avoid prosecution [for capital murder]” is not the best avenue one could choose in life.

The lack of news updates on the search for KA is disturbing. It seems she really has managed to evade capture. Despite LE’s claims that they are closing in on her, it really doesn’t look promising at this point.

I don't think CS really cared that much about MW, I think he wanted to keep an eye on her and keep her close as she was a competitor in his field and a rising star, which could eclipse his fame, in his own mind, that is.

MW thougth they had a relationship, and he kept skirting around it. At some point I think she would have ended it without a commitment from him, maybe after she left Austin this time, or shortly after, but she never got the chance.

All the more terrible that she had to be murdered for a romance that wasn’t even real. Her confused text to CS after seeing him at an event with KA was pathetic and heartbreaking.

I really feel sorry for CC, the friend of MW's at whose place she was saying. I have to assume she was part of the cycling crowd, but I don't know how else she would know MW well enough to host her for the race.

The affidavit said CC did not know KA, but she evidently had a concern about MW to warn her about seeing CS, possibly entirely independent of KA's involvement;=.

MW was really the higher ranking cyclist and that her relationship with CS was doomed, anyway. She has to be independent enough to make her cycling her only priority, and there is nothing I've read so far that gave me any indication CS was going to leave KA for her. I was looking at race standings and MW had far more wins and higher placings than CS in the last year. She was substantially better ranked.

I think she had a good instinct about keeping the relationship friendly and collegial, at least from the description of her text to him.

I also think CS going into hiding over fear of an attack by KA is............

more like hiding from the media.

Her gun is likely in the hands of LE, or maybe he still has his gun.

Probably, yes.

I had initially believed — or wanted to believe, perhaps — that CS had really fallen for MW, but didn’t know how to extricate himself from the relationship with KA.

MW just seems so special and charismatic that I can’t imagine CS viewing her casually….

Some info I have not seen reported before here. The reporter reviewed APD documents.

This is cold:
9:20 am - Police make contact with Strickland. [(3)]
They write, "Strickland originally acted as though he did not know who Wilson was but eventually admitted to knowing her.” [(3), (4)]

I guess it's no more Red Bull and he can just kiss off that Wheaties box.

That’s not good. I suppose he was scared, but….
