So he is 'trampling' her rights to smoke a ciggie during a traffic stop. LOL Talk about not choosing your battles wisely.

He was probably TRAINED to ask a motorist to put out their lit ciggie. Many departments have that as standard policy. She was seething and rageful, imo. Look at her social media pages. She had pure hatred for LE. He asked her politely to do a small thing and she made it a civil rights issue and blew it way out of the water.

Did he have a legal right to tell her to put out her cigarette. No and that is why he requested that she put it out. There was more going on than fighting about a cigarette in that video if you're willing to see it. IMO

No one wants it shut down. Some want opposing views and especially those that won't back down shut down.

I have no problem with opposing views (I even argue with myself at times!), and I think most threads would be pretty boring if they consisted mainly of one person posting a thought and everybody else posting that they agree. That said, I enjoy threads much more when people with opposing opinions debate the issues rather than insulting, criticizing, mocking, etc the other person. I know that how other people post isn't up to me, but this is how it would be if I ran the world!

MOO and all that rot...

No, we have techniques for working with students, Mainly we start the year with building rekationships with students and parents,

We used to call every parent to discuss positive things with their student, but with caller ID, there is no time to call at school using their phone and I do not want to use my home phone, so that became a oroblem.

If you do bot develop a relationship with students and parents, nothing can work.

BTW, what is the big focus on weapons and Sandra? She is not a felon, so she can have guns, right

what big focus on Sandra and guns?

So according to you, it is great that she was hostile and rude. But he is condemned for responding in kind?

He worked for SB. He is a public servant. And by the way he started it...lol

Guess what? Teachers are constantly berated. Does that mean we get to throw tantrums and push students to the ground or start screaming at negligent parents?

For that matter, does ANYONE who is treated rudely or aggressively get to retaliate with like measures? Except cops...

Police are PUBLIC SERVANTS. They are not despots.

And they are not above the law.

I have no problem with anything she did. I have a lot o problems with what he did.

You can phrase the question however you like but my answer will not change.

I haver googled the heck out of that question and there are opposing views. Some say he did have a legal right, others say no. But it is not out of the question for him to ask. And that is all he did--he said 'would you mind putting out your cig...?'

He did not demand or tell her to.

And I know there was more. He did not handle his own anger in response to her hostility very well at all. And for that, he was wrong. But so was she, imo.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a cover up. Edited video, moving her off camera, telling a witness to stop filming, releasing an incomplete autopsy report, the list goes on, and on. How much more evidence of cover up do you need?

Factual proof, not opinion of a cover up would be fine with me

Right. so I see that as kind of biased. You have no problem with her being rude and condescending. I do. whatever.

I was not accusing anyone. My question was in general because the topic had been brought up. There's no need to be defensive.

Ok thanks for the advice

I am so sick of that refrain. Even public servants should be treated with some level of civility and respect. And imo, he was professional and polite at the start of their interaction. She was the one that was cold and rude from jump. JMO

Yep. I have seen the way students are acting in school these days. I find it kind of alarming , actually.

So if you ask a student to put their phone away during class, and they say NO, I can do what I want---do you shrug and let them text during your lesson? You pretty much have to these days.
But...

OBVIOUSLY I was being sarcastic in the post where I said my teacher friends were thrilled at how respectful students are these days. They routinely get cussed at, even sometimes punched. My friend who is already 63 and about to retire had a chair thrown at her recently.

Here is the approach many schools are using to develop relationships.

Just like the code of ethics that I posted for Law Enforcement.

My sentiments exactly.

I'm at a loss why this police officer escalated a situation and wanted Sandra in jail?! Is there some quota he's trying fill, why waste time on a minor traffic violation?
He's going to make an example of her.....??

She kicked him. He is not going to ignore that. JMO

Respect breeds respect. Being an a-hole will return the same. It doesn't matter if you wear a badge or not.

You can't mandate how an average citizen acts, but in his case he should have had training on how to deal with many different difficult situations.
Back to the factory for him. IMO
