They have such clear footage let’s hope they are caught ASAP . I can’t begin to imagine where this could lead .

Do you think this is interesting wording (from the police statement): "We are aware of a video circulating on social media filmed in east London appearing to show two men impersonating police officers." (my bold)

I wonder if they're just being thorough or if there's any suggestion that the video isn't depicting what it claims? I feel it's odd to call the police to report that incident and then put the video clip on social media instead of just supplying it to them and letting them get on with investigating. (Or is it? Perhaps all it says is that whoever posted it wanted to warn people in the area?)

Where does the video seem to have come from? Filmed by someone on their phone?

(I can't read the DM item, only the press release, so apologies if some of these questions are covered.)

Scary stuff.

Another part I found interesting from the DM article is that it says "She then chases them from the building and they run down the road." So what were they trying to gain access for? According to the DM they had gained access to the property but were then asked for ID and chased from the building. But once they were inside I imagine two men could of easily over powered the woman...yet she chased them. Very strange. Hopefully with such clear images they can be identified soon.

The police statement says "the residents became suspicious", so it sounds like she wasn't alone. Perhaps they were expecting she would be and lost their nerve when a second person appeared (perhaps filming them)? Just speculating.

That's a good point actually, sounds like a logical scenario to have happened. So women are now supposed to be wary of going out after dark, walking alone, being alone in your own home, policemen, men pretending to be policemen and just men in general basically.

I presumed it ment as it was in a block of flats by the look of things that someone else came out of their flat . (Just my thoughts)

Yes, maybe, I wondered that too, although now I've watched the video in the Sun link posted above, it does seem to me that there's a man's voice as well as a woman's while they're still in the original flat. It may be one of the bogus officers though. There's so much bleeping out it's hard to follow a lot of what's said! They picked the wrong woman, that's for sure.

BBM.

As they’re being chased down the stairwell and into the street, one of the suspects alleges that the husband/male partner of the female filming is selling cannabis. This may suggest a motive for them to be trying to gain access under false pretences: to steal drug supplies under the guise of confiscation.

Of course, I’m not accusing the victims of selling (or even using) cannabis, just pointing out that - if the suspects’ belief was genuine (in that they did believe there was cannabis in the residence, and weren’t just throwing it out there as a last chance to explain why they were there) - then that might explain why they were attempting to gain access (ie a theft, rather than something more violent).

Still, if truly not police (which it 100% does look as though they are not IMO) then this an alarming tactic, at any time but especially so in light of recent high profile crimes.
