I think the driver has been charged with murder as he was 'hands on ' and the rest were hands off

I can speak from experience of ferries.

But a shipping container can act like a Faraday cage and block any signals in or out... It can and I'm not saying it will either.

It was a 10 hour trip, you can get a mobile phone signal roughly half an hour sailing time on a ship off the coast of the uk. When this boat got near the Thames estuary, say level with Southend, it will have been able to get a data signal while at sea, from memory, the sailing time from level with Southend into Tilbury docks is approx one hour.

It wasn't 2 hours off Coast, it was 2 hours from port incoming towards the Thames estuary. In that area, the coast is visible from port and starboard so you're fairly close to phone masts.

The answer to your question in simple terms is, yes the phone has clearly sent the message at 10:28pm which meant it got out of the container.

Also, some of these ships can have signal boosters for mobile phone transmissions.

PS I served in the RNLI for quite a while sailing the rescue boats so I'm familiar with these kind of things.

Do we have a timeline here on this thread yet which would fit in this time?

That could very well be. But if they were frozen to death, I don't see how he's the one that did that, according to our timeline.

Is it possible the driver's been arrested on suspicion of murder because-
A) He was the driver of the vehicle found with nearly 40 bodies inside and
B) if he's arrested on suspicion of murder, he can be questioned for up to 96 hours - therefore LE can get as much info out of him as possible

Just a thought.

O
<modsnip: personalizing and off topic>

I bet the irish guy at stanstead thought he was so close! I rekon he got scared when the couple got arrested. Direct leads and all that. Mo is the small fry MOO

Personally, I think the driver knew exactly what was in the trailer. Its a very bizarre thing for him to just pick the trailer up, go a mile down the road into a secluded road at 1am, then open up a secured trailer. A secured trailer is secured so when it reaches its destination, a goods inward officer is supposed to break the seal and accept the consignment. When the seal is broken, the can decline delivery. No idea why he broke the seal other than to release the people on board. This stuff about paperwork inside is nonsense.

About the kids, it was all over the press anyway when I said they have kids.

As for the Irish guy at Stanstead, wad he arrested at the airport or town? Odd how they're all Irish bring arrested. It's quite telling and I'd suspect more will be arrested, it does seem a very complicated network unravelling by the hour.

I'd like to know this too. I think when people hear "Stansted" they immediately think it means the airport - Stansted is an actual town too. :)

errrrr no. They aren’t confirming nationality as per press conference, they were believed to be Chinese nationals but no confirmation will take place until the coroner has been involved in the ID... and a fourth person has been arrested also (48 year old man)...

Curious the driver is still being held on a murder charge. Wonder if he somehow turned the fridge on as the rest are on manslaughter charges...

Suspicion of murder, not charged with murder or held on a murder charge. We should know more of him in the coming hours.

As far as I am aware, nobody has been charged with anything so far.

My thoughts at this point -

I have no idea whether the driver knew that there were people inside the trailer but I feel he definitely didn't know they'd be dead.

I don't think the driver "killed" them. I think whoever was driving that trailer from abroad turned on the refrigerator to stop thermal imaging detecting the people inside, and then they forgot to turn it off.

TLDR: I don't think the driver murdered anyone. I think those people were dead before he even hooked up his cab to the trailer.

All just my own opinion.

How has he murdered them? He picked it up 10 minutes before he pulled up round the corner, these victims were sealed with no oxygen on a boat for a minimum of 10 hours, they were all probably dead before docking at the port, but he is involved in the ring in my opinion, he just got caught with a load of bodies he was hoping to release but that isn't actually murdering someone with intent.

Definitely at the airport, as reported by BBC and Sky. Not clear whether he was flying in or out.

Thanks Cags - poor sleuthing on my part, haven't had time to check new articles.

Wonder what time he was lifted, it would be an idea to look at incoming or outgoing flights from Stanny airport

Far too many repeat articles posted to be able to go through them all on this thread. One single source would be a bit simpler for an old man like me

Even if you go make a media thread, the duplicates will still get posted here.
