UK - 39 bodies found in lorry, Essex, 23 October 2019

The man aged, 23, is believed to be from Co Down, Northern Ireland and is expected to appear to before the Criminal Courts of Justice at 4:30pm today.

The man was arrested by gardai after getting off a ferry at the port on Saturday afternoon.

The blue Scania truck that he was driving has since been impounded by gardai.

My thinking is that Mo (the driver), on his phone got word, that there was a problem with the cargo, and this is why he stopped to check the 'paperwork'.
The victims had mobiles, so they would have been in touch with their handlers as well as loved ones. I reckon this was relayed to Mo.

Essex Police's DCI Martin Passmore says they are "open minded" about whether the deaths are part of a wider trafficking "conspiracy".

He says "it must be clear that criminals are taking more and more chances with these vulnerable people".

I'm speculating that he possibly drove one of the other alleged convoy vehicles last week. JMO

I agree with your speculation.
So it could be another arrest will happen soon if the third lorry driver is apprehended.
When they use the term convey ,does it imply they travelled together on the same crossing?

Theres a blue one showing up in 2016. Then a white one for about a month in December 2017. January 2018 the red one makes an appearance.

What i find hard to comprehend is, if this is a big organised set up, how easy has it been for them to get away with it and for how long. Living in luxury on other folks misery and had those unfortunate 39 people not lost their lives, they would no doubt have happily continued.

Hopefully those 39 didnt die in vain.

Based on this, I think "our" migrants removed clothing because of hypERthermia.

The case you quote was different though. Their container was almost fully loaded with goods, and the people were lying on top of the cargo half a metre from the roof. Conditions would have been hot and cramped. In this case the container was completely empty but for the 39 people.

So he was driving it when the Warrington couple owned it. As they say they sold it in October 18.

I think the one thing this awful case has shown us is that just how unaware we are as the general public on how checks at ports are carried out or as it appears not carried out be it for illegal people , drugs , weapons etc who knows

but if the freezer unit was running it’s a known fact that last stages of hypothermia tells your mind your burning hot and you take your clothes off
